Right....but it will cost enough that it doesn't make sense anymore. I haven't even watched the video yet, but they sell a lot of 7.62 uppers, they aren't going to say "no, not worth it, don't buy them" however, me and alot of others built there 7.62 ars because we could get 40 rounds for $9 or less. The whole point was essentially Russian surplus. "Tul ammo, bear, wolf, etc. If 7.62 starts to approach the price of low end 300 blk.....it doesn't make sense anymore, period. (As in doesn't make sense to buy or build a NEW gun that takes that chambering)

@@neroaugustus5378 I have to disagree, the 762x39 round is a very good round, and in my opinion worth paying more for if it comes down to that, or worth paying more for over replacing the upper I have for a caliber I didn't want to begin with. I personally didn't get a 762 upper for to take advantage of cheaper ammo, since my next build was a 50 Beowulf and lord knows that ammo is at a premium, but its fun to shoot.

@@kaylachapman4469 I don't think so, PSA is generally pretty budget friendly on they stuff they make, their goal was to keep a supply of less expensive ammo, 762x39 is readily available now in brand name brass case but you will pay a price for it, its usually in line with better hunting ammo. I bought some Winchester game point in 762x39 and if I recall it was close to 17 a box. its been 2 years now and haven't had the want to shoot that pricey stuff

that’s the idea we go out panic buy making it look like the manufacturers are low on product and demand so high they have the justification to raise the prices. then when the buying slows down they keep the same price slow down production until we panic buy what’s on the shelves then they put out some and raise the price again.

Hannity was just talking about the price of ammo. He mentioned how they are sending all the ammo , or a good chunk of it, over to Ukraine. Meanwhile, most of the ammo manufacturers have been swallowed up by the large companies so there is only 4 left in the US creating a monopoly like environment. May be a good startup business if you are willing to sell at reduced prices.

5.45 is not a "successor" to the 7.62x39. AK'S manufactured in the US, or fr the US market, can be found in a variety of sizes; however, they're all 7.62x39 for thr rest of the world. Where they are primarily used for target shooting in the US, where a lethal round isn't so necessary, they are
primarily a combat weapon in the rest of the world, where a "killing" round is necessary. A 5.45/.223 is a "fat" .22, and shooting an enemy with layers of clothing, gear vests, etc. More often than not wounds them. The object in combat is to kill the enemy so he can't kll you. 7.62x39 is very capable of doing that !!

I see an absolute ton of people talking about the side charger. They are amazing. BUT, one thing I learned; the idea you have for the side charger still doesn't come to what your expecting because you have to either break firing grip, or reach over the top with the awkward Ak charge. For a while, I was cutting a slot in the left side of my receivers, drilling and tapping the hole, and moving the charging handle to the left side. This combined with a bad lever altered the manual of arms with an AR into something Intuitive. I manipulate the bolt with firing hand in the grip, both to lock it to the rear, and to drop it. The lever sits right where you index you finger when your displaying "trigger control". Bang, bang bang, click: instead of that awkward, break your grip, hold in the bolt catch with left, while bracing the gun against.... something....and charging from the rear, or the first part the same, and reaching over the top of the gun, all I have to do when that happens is drop mag, push up with my trigger finger, and pull the bolt to the rear simultaneously with my left on the left side, smack mag against gun, reinsert, push up with triger finger, bang bang bang. It SO much more intuitive. Anyways, the point of the comment is to say that bear creek in the last year or two has come out with left side charging right side eject uppers......now literally all you have to do is buy a b.a.d. lever (battery assist device) (piece of advice, I bed mine down with jb weld to essentially make one solid piece from the bolt catch and the bad lever, otherwise, it can shift when your really torquing on it and it bugs me. I just filled it with jb, reassembled, and wiped away the excess and let it cure. Apparently they sell one piece bolt catch's with bad lever now as well, might be a better idea) daaaamn long ass comment, my bad.

But even when PSA spins up their AK 47-74 and 54R production, I don't see 7.62X39 getting below 38 cents per round shipped. It might be scarce in stores, but you can always get it online for 40 cpr or less. I don't expect this to fluctuate much in the next few years. Arsenal BG is a military contractor. I can get a box of Tula 762 for 9.99 the box of Tula 223 cost me $14.99. Plus it's easy enough for them to import the ammo from a country that doesn't have a ban on it. I'm willing to bet we'll see a shortage of 223 again before we see the 762 go anywhere.

When the Russian import ban was first made known…I started buying the steel cased European non corrosive 7.62x39 as much as possible (happy to say it’s stacked pretty deep and the funny thing is that at that time, I didn’t even own a rifle chambered in the caliber)…then I ordered two BCA 16” Gen 2 side charging uppers (one for me and one for my brother…excellent uppers 👍👍👍) and bought a myself a Ruger American Ranch in 7.62X39 at a good price from a local FFL dealer who had one a customer had requested but backed out of his order for the fear of the upcoming ammo ban ??? 🙄🙄🙄…another remedy to insure a steady source of 7.62X39 was to stock up on reloadable brass ammo from NORMA and BELOM by utilizing free shipping and special offers from both online sources and my local Rural King farm store (I’m a reloader and bullet caster/powder coater) even though the initial cost was somewhat higher for the reloadable brass, the option to having it for a reloadable source of ammunition out weighed that cost 😊…7.62X39 reloadable brass ammunition is pretty much out of stock at NORMA but BELOM still pops up from time to time from Global Ordinance and if you have a Rural King in your area it’s worth checking into (they sometimes even have TULA steel in stock) 👍👍👍

But Russia isn’t the only manufacturer of cheap steel cased 7.62x39, cause all the satellite nations of the former Soviet Union also had ammo making capabilities. Serbia, Ukraine (when not at war) Romania all have ability to manufacture ammo. Plus, if Tula or anyone like that wants to, they could send the tooling to another country, and manufacture there. Wouldn’t be Russian made anymore.

got the rear charging handle 16". the BELOM gave consistent moa or less 5 round groups off sandbags at 50 yards. Am Dying to get the rig out to the 100 and 200. That means 1/2 inch or less groups at 50 yards. the steel case soft point ammo gave me about 1.5 moa, very happy. For those who question the 7.62x39 for hunting, I spent hours researching REAL ballistics acquired by chronograph on youtube. Seems like days of it. Transcribed the manufacturer and bullet weight along with the average MV. Same for the 300 hammer and the 30-30, No, I am not going to even try to post the pages of information and reference information. Feel free to do your own search and investigation. Bottom line, barnaul is the hottest at about 2550 from a 16 inch bbl/125gr sp. The cartridge is Very close to the 30-30 out of a 20 inch barrel and the 300 hammer. Hours actually was spread out over a couple of weeks. A couple of hours a day. I did not want to come to a conclusion until I found youtube posts that were younger than a year old. Get one, realize that if you shoot it like a 22lr semi auto the need to replace that extractor increases. Four of my hunting buddies now have semi auto and bolt guns in this cartridge and they are Very happy.

I for now am regulating my 7.62 AR15 upper to training. Premature extractor breakage seems to be given for AR15 bolts set up to handle 7.62x39. There was an internet claim that Young manufacturing bolts have a superior extractor. I will have to test that out. For now for self defense the 300 blackout chambered AR is more reliable than is the 7.62x39 AR15 upper. A broken extract make an AR good for just one shot.
PSA announces plans to make steel case russian calibers. No mention of pricing, but if the steel case is boxer primed it may be reloadable.
''McCallum said in his post that PSA had indeed been working on building their own steel-cased ammunition production facility. They planned to start churning out Russian calibers first, including 5.45×39, which some combloc fans worried would disappear from shelves completely in the US.
PSA’s decision to make these calibers wasn’t directly related to the Russian ammo ban, though. McCallum said in his post that PSA’s ammo production facility had already been under construction for a year. “Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than right,” he commented in his post.''
