    Its a cool rig, and thankfully I am certainly one of the people it was designed for. I love scale driving and have gotten used to how it performs compared to a more bashing-oriented sct. Plus, it looks great on a trailer behind one of my trail trucks.
    For anyone watching wanting some setup tips (keep in mind, Im no professional just someone who has spent a lot of time with scale desert trucks), i would start with the suspension. I would keep the preload all the way loose (unscrewed to top of shock) and stick with the stock oil weight of around 40wt. If you go to bigger shocks, youll probably need to drop the oil weight in the rear and up it in the front to compensate for the new shock volumes (I run 50w Front and 25wt Rear in RCAWD aftermarket shocks). I locked the rear diff with plugs and changed the center diff to 100k to keep ballooning down, but I think i may up it to 250k. I added a swaybar kit from ThreeDPrintDesigns to keep the rear end tidier and that did help some with the torque twist but I dont think it is necessary unless you plan on running it on the road a lot; the stock rear sway bars do a good enough job but drop me a comment if you know of a good front swaybar kit for this car. Lastly, i dropped the motor pinion from 13t to 12t to increase the torque a bit. With these mods and a 2s lipo, I set the AVC to about 25% and the truck runs about as well as I could hope; the locked diff and increased torque make it easier to steer with the rear and allows for more control in slides. With a 3s, I usually run the power at 75% as it overpowers the car a bit in my opinion but a better driver could compensate for that. It may be tempting to swap to the 0 degree rear toe inserts to get the rear to slide out more but i found that they made this car two unruly in the corners and straights, and upping the AVC to remedy this will cause it to cut power in the slides defeating the purpose. Most likely a skill issue but Im not a fan nonetheless. It will never jump well so I dont think its worth trying to set it up that way unless you want to pay Losi replacement part prices.
    Great video as always, cant wait for the roundup.

    The F100 something Brothers body is my absolute favorite sct body.
    I love my SBR 2.0 but it's a very unique and niche driving experience. It loves smooth and wide open places. It'll jump but it's no basher. It looks awesome and is decently tough. I really wish Losi would make a 12S 5T. While I'm at it it'd be awesome if Arrma would make a bigger 8s Mojave exb next. Currently my 4s Mojave is my favorite SCT. My buddy went to buy a 6s Mojave and when our crappy LHS didn't have one he brought back a UDR. That is an amazing truck, until it breaks. It's great to drive but, his at least, is very fragile.

      Very different machines aren't they. These desert trucks aren't for everyone, but they do deliver the kind of driving specific to their class. I think they've got a winner here.

    How come we haven't spoken in nearly three years of one of our other great passions, simracing!?
    This was one of my most anticipated reviews of yours for a few months, and it hasn't disappointed at all!
    I'm so excited to adding it to my garage at some point. Super scale, yet tough enough for the harsh condition of the test. Good one from Losi.

    Great video. I'm a racer type, so when I first drove mine, I was quite annoyed with the traction rolling into turns and regretting buying one. I am glad you pointed out the scale driver factor, so with that in mind, I took mine out again today at Knox RC track. Driving it with care, it behaved nicely on 2S and handled the track like a how a long travel 4WD desert truck should.
    PRO: I loved long travel suspension, squared edged hits didn't faze it, looked awesome charging through the choppy terrain. And the scaled body looks marvellous as the car dances over bumps.
    CON: The Spektrum servo is a weak point, feels weedy, slow, indirect and developed fault after 4 batteries packs. Replacing that servo is a pain, requires removal of body panels, roll cage, mock radiator etc just to get to the plug.
    Modelflight Australia still don’t have any spares available after 6 months of preorder, so take care not crashing it too hard.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the summary. I'll add that removing preload from the rear can be helpful. Quite a few commenters have pointed out mine was too high in my video, and they were right! Lower means more rubbing but less rolling, so it's a net gain.
      Glad you're enjoying yours!

    I really like these “scale Drivers”, they can be a bit of a handful and a challenge to drive well. That intrigues me and keeps it entertaining. Bigger thicker sway bars sometimes help with rolling. Although a similar but different animal, My Wendigo behaves the same way and I can say that it’s never boring. Great job on this my friend!👊🏼🍻😎

    It may handle better if you lower the stance a bit; shocks seem tight and truck seems high; it will topple less if u lower it. Also, and i could be wrong; try AVC at zero or 10-15% max; that will make it drive better and more stable as well. Sorry about that scar on the body!

      More likely to roll than cars with IRS and sway bars, for sure. You can mitigate it somewhat - my preload is too high in this video, for example - but it still won't corner as well as a more course oriented design. These things love big bumps that's their strength.

    These Baja Rey’s are very cool as far as scale appearance and functionality……the 1/10 (or some say 1/8 scale) models are expensive and somewhat difficult to work on if need be…..I’ve had 2 of the previous generation that I bought used …both were broken and owners gave up fixing them…I resold one of them after repair and kept the second one (I did more mods to it and was actually much better than stock form)
    For people wondering about these rigs you are correct ….they are designed for a specific driving style but that being said….the Super Baja Rey is much better as far as handling and stability goes! (I bought one on sale from horizon when they were $700) for only $200 more than the 1/10 scale new was a no brainer….downside it you need more room to drive these monsters….😅

      Well, you've seen both my videos on these cars, so you'll have seen just how much more capable the Mojave 4s is. My general advice would be the Mojave 4s is best for nearly everyone. The Baja Rey 2.0 here is for those who want desert truck handling and the limitations that comes with that. It's a form of enjoyment that comes from practice and terrain selection. The mojave is your best mate for most surfaces and mindsets. Smooth and tidy laps? Yes. Rough bashing? Definitely. Launching into orbit?... Well, everything has its limits, but the Mojave 4s is one heck of an intro to RC. It would be my recommendation to you, if you have the budget for it.

    Hi is it normal the reverse is weak?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's common, though many after market ESCs will give you full reverse.
      The reason is one of cost, and of how mosfets work. They're the electronic component that handles power flow from battery to motor. You need a separate bank of them for each motor direction. A cost saving measure is to use less mosfets for reverse, given you're usually going to want full power forward and usually not care so much about reverse.
      So that's why many cars are like that!

    Hmmmm... I think a short course body might've bent in & popped back out, probably with a crease but not necessarily a puncture.?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe. But the cage under the body panels on this thing kept the damage local and minor. I don't really want to test the theory but I expect a SCT body would have been badly cracked here, at least.
      I knew better but did it anyway. I'll be more careful next time!

    I think y'all should give the HPI Jumpshot Flux SC some light. Looks promising! Not much content on it.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. Could do. I've done the Jumpshot SC V2 and since converted it to brushless. How different to that is the Flux SC?

    • @Aaronjaycardwell
      @Aaronjaycardwell 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Flux cones with metal trans and differential internals and a 4000kv brushless motor and 2S-3S esc. Have you shown yours with the upgrades? Cant find it.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @Aaronjaycardwell thanks for that! Upgrade video: not yet, but I will. Getting through all the SCT and desert trucks first, then the big comparison video, then I'll run through the upgrade videos for the various trucks. It's all coming, but as you can imagine, each video takes a while to make. Definitely coming though 😎

      I own the Jumpshot SC flux and I love it. In the UK it's only £199 which makes it incredible value for such a fast and fun machine. I'm biased towards RTR, but why anyone would buy any sort of Tamiya when you can get so much more performance (and build quality) for less money, I dont know 😀
      They are quite big and seriously fast, and so look very impressive when whizzing along the beach.
      Powerful 2WD means you have to be a bit more finessed with your driving style (compared to more forgiving 4WD) but the flux is also silky smooth and quiet. A real joy.
      I mainly save mine for the beach now as the far simpler drive train and TVP chassis makes the post run clean up far easier and quicker compared to most other cars.
      Only downside is that because the car is so light and fast, the big body likes to parachute and flip over. Even with some vent holes, I'm never really able to go full trigger pull. Thankfully, even just 3/4 trigger still gives a very rewarding turn of speed.

    Also, if it is the same chassis as original 12 screws to take of bodyshell
    back of roll cage 4 side screws, 4 screws on bottom of metal plate, were roll cage is attached, 2 screws at front of body,were it is attached to roll cage & 2 screws underneath middle of body were roll cage, is attached comes as one unit,bit of a nightmare to get back on though, well for me 😱😅😁😉👍

      UDR, if that's the only choice.
      But I have UDR coming soon, and the Cross RC UT4. Not the Yikong yet though.
      The SBR2.0 vs the UDR is a harder decision though!

      @RCTNT  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are a few others. The SBR2.0 is a great machine, I need to get around to giving it some camera time. I recently looked at the Kyosho Outlaw Rampage, which is a prerunner type front and rear trailing arms over a live rear axle. There are a few BG specials I've been trying to line up for a look, too. And I feel like I'm forgetting another one at least, too..

    Lower kv does NOT mean more torque. This car could benefit from lower kv because it rolls better than it drives.

    • @JT-6s
      @JT-6s 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Technically that’s true, the size of the windings is what gives the motor torque. But practically speaking, since lower kv limits speed with the same torque, a lower kv motors “feels” torque(ier). It also has the benefit of running cooler.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I remember how excited I was when that truck came out, how really excited I was to get it, and how disappointed I was after a quick 15 minute drive. That thing is a piece of hot GARBAGE. It doesn’t turn, it doesn’t drive straight, it over heats because the motor and esc is to small, and the first 15 minute run, it rubbed all the paint off the rear of the body. Fast forward a few runs later, nothing crazy and the whole body is destroyed and cracked. That was the last rc I buy new. I tend to build most of my RC’s from the ground up with as much aftermarket as possible from scratch. But this RC was the last straw. I will never buy a new RC ever again.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I feel for you, Alan. I think this is a difficult model to own, as it's really made for desert truck fans who aren't going to drive it like a short course truck (that includes me, I've learned). Losi have some interesting models but several of them are made for a particular purpose or drive style.
      The more general use models like the Mojave 4s or the Rival MT10 can be very rewarding to own. But yeah I feel you. Sorry you've had a bad run
