this time you're just seeing 2 singers, but during the worst of the pandemic, so many of them actually got together in quite a few virtual aka online concerts to raise funds for frontliners, for colleagues who had no income to live on and nearly everything under the sun that they could help with. you haven't really heard martin nievera yet. i remember him singing so often and taking as many requests as he could just to help anyone listening be able to smile about something good. martin is one of the best male singers of his time and he's actually one of the bigger artists who gave regine all the help he could to give her more airtime.

At this time, these zoom duets have been happening and Lea shared at an interview (I guess with fellow actors in Broadway and the West End) that she didn't have a proper microphone for these live performances from home and planned on getting one for this purpose. I'm guessing during this duet she didn't have a microphone at home yet and was just using the mic from her phone headset. Btw, I requested this!!! Thank you for reacting to it!

When you react to Regine and Martin Nievera's Broadway Musical Medley which is heavily suggested in the comment section already😅, keep in mind Regine was actually suffering a migraine attack during that time and was rushed to the hospital right after. They did another duet after the medley and regine mentioned in an interview she was already grabbing onto Martin's arm so she wouldn't fall over or lose her balance from the dizziness. She was feeling the migraine while belting out crazy notes "seemingly" with ease. She is something else!!
It's actually "what I did for love", not life. I adore both. Lea is Broadway's best for me, and regine has that Barbara Streisand sound. They make my heart melt with their renditions.

This is done live! I remember this. The pianist (musical director) is Lea's brother, Gerald, who I think (if I"m not mistaken) was Regine's musical director in one (or two) of her concerts.

She talks about how singing with Regine is hard, but Regine asked her to be part of this online concert (a birthday fundraiser for a charity Regine supports) and Lea couldn't say no. Lea also mentions how the next time they sing together she hopes it will be in person in front of a live audience with both of them glammed up. Suffice it to say, TONS of fans of both of these ladies (among them me) immediately started clamoring for them to do a concert together. It hasn't happened yet. I'm still praying for it! It seems highly unlikely it will happen anytime within the next year. Lea still has concert dates on and off in the USA for the next month or two, and then she is going to be in the Broadway musical HERE LIES LOVE for a limited engagement of 5 weeks. (Lea is also a co-producer for that Broadway musical, so she'll be very busy promoting it in the summer.) And then from September - December Lea will be in Stephen Sondheim's OLD FRIENDS in London. This is her first time doing a show in the West End (not just a concert) in 27 years. FYI: Lea and Regine are two of my absolute favorite singers. They sent me the minus one which was created by her musical director Raul Mitra. I got that. I put my video and vocals together and I sent it back. That’s what I did,” she said. If I'm not mistaken this was Regine's online birthday stream/concert and she was raising funds for a charity. Mind you, this was broadcast live, in real time and of course our speaking voice is a 'lil different from our singing voice. With or without post production, these two sound amazing. And I think Lea was only using her earphone's microphone as she might have mentioned in an interview. By the way, they were saying.....what I did for "LOVE" and not life.
I think the concert was live, but I'm pretty sure the duet portion was pre-recorded. Lea definitely said she was sent the music, recorded her part, and sent it back. If you look at the table beside Regine, the setup is slightly different when Regine introduces Lea and while Regine is singing. Absolutely no shade - I have no problem with these awesome ladies recording their parts separately. The bottom line is that they both sound fantastic separate and together!
Josh, this brings back memories. Their cover of this iconic song from Andrew Lloyd Webber's, "Jesus Christ Superstar". This certainly brings back lots of memories. I was in my early teens when this song was so popular. This, however, is not Regines' first time doing Broadway Musical Medley. *Salonga shared what it was like working with Velasquez for the first time*
“Here’s the funny thing, we didn’t get to actually work together in the traditional sense,” Salonga began.
“There was a sequence of how everything came together. They sent me the minus one which was created by her musical director Raul Mitra. I got that. I put my video and vocals together and I sent it back. That’s what I did,” she said.
Salonga said it was Velasquez who worked around the vocals that she did and Mitra “added whatever else needed to be added later on.”
While technically it was the first time they actually did a duet, Salonga explained there was no way they could do it live at that time.
“There’s always gonna be a one or two-second delay. It’s impossible for any two people to sing together until that is figured out, or one of the pair is constantly conscious of the delay. It’s always singing either a beat ahead or a beat behind. Mentally it’s difficult,” she said.
For this reason, Salonga said she and Velasquez have yet to actually work together and that is something she is excited about in the future.
“We’ll be older. She just turned 50 and I am turning 50. The moral of the story is you can be in your 50s and you still have something to look forward to."
Lea sang that duet with that wired earphones. She said in an interview.

One good example of what you said about recording separately from one member to another is SB19's IKAKO mv. You need to check Regine and Martin's broadway performance. They were in white clothes.
If I'm not mistaken this was Regine's online birthday stream/concert and she was raising funds for a charity. Mind you, this was broadcast live, in real time and of course our speaking voice is a 'lil different from our singing voice. With or without post production, these two sound amazing. And I think Lea was only using her earphone's microphone as she might have mentioned in an interview. By the way, they were saying.....what I did for "LOVE" and not life.
I think the concert was live, but I'm pretty sure the duet portion was pre-recorded. Lea definitely said she was sent the music, recorded her part, and sent it back. If you look at the table beside Regine, the setup is slightly different when Regine introduces Lea and while Regine is singing. Absolutely no shade - I have no problem with these awesome ladies recording their parts separately. The bottom line is that they both sound fantastic separate and together!

Josh, this brings back memories. Their cover of this iconic song from Andrew Lloyd Webber's, "Jesus Christ Superstar". This certainly brings back lots of memories. I was in my early teens when this song was so popular. This, however, is not Regines' first time doing Broadway Musical Medley. She and Martin Nievera; another Iconic Filipino singer; do check him out, performed live a Broadway Musical Medley. It's a bit dated but do check it out and you will be amazed; I guarantee.
