form? her form is way more of the proper ballet form than the others you mentioned, being the best tumbler is awesome, but true gymnastics incorporates ballet, which Mckayla mastered

I'd have no business giving this advice to her directly, but there's a way to fix those flexed feet. My punitive diving coach hated that I flexed my feet when I was afraid/hesitant on a dive, so she made me sit down by the pool and pick up 100 marbles with my toes and move them from one side of my outstretched leg to the other. It was painful and caused horrible spasms, but I only received the punishment ONCE. Her landings are the bomb though.
And that right there is why she will never make the Olympic team. Her E score is always in the 7s. Her coaches have always depended on a large D score to compensate for her lack of form/flexibility but it just hasn't played out that way.
This was a solid performance by McKayla....but thats the problem. She has so many form issues that even when she hits a routine, she can't get her execution score in the 8s. At best, she will be an alternate in my opinion. She is great at increasing her difficulty but it always seems to be negated by her form. The US is just too competitive to make an Olympic team us, on average, your E score is in the 7s. I love her, but when she made her elite comeback she should have left Desert Lights and gone to a more technical gym. You can even see in her training sessions on her vlog that they don't even address her glaring form issues. I don't know if they just done care or if she struggles with form so much that they just have given up on her form. She is so talented, and a collegiate gymnastics legend...but she just doesn't have the form necessary to make a US Olympic team. Any other country, yes.
I've never really liked her gymnastics. It lacked basics and felt " chucked". I see an improvement thought, and she deserves a spot. Biles, Mykayla, Sunisa, and Chiles. Carey and Mckusker. Memmel as an alternate just to show the world USA gymnastics is human. :)
Love how clean her dance elements, jumps, turns and leaps are. Her tumbling will get there but it’s so refreshing not to see a gymnast fall out of their turns or not hit their jumps. NCAA gymnastics definitely emphasizes those parts of the routine just as much as the tumbling and it’s benefited Mykayla!

Instead of 2.2 points, I feel like it should’ve been 1.8. Yes, she has plenty deductions, but I think that was ATLEAST a 14.100 routine.
I believe the code of points is gonna be changed in a way that will discourage gymnasts from performing wolf turns in their routines. At this time it makes sense though because they're "easy" points
There’s not really a need for her to go unfortunately. Once Jade is back in full form Skinner won’t matter. Jade is liked internationally unlike her. I think Riley will be the second specialist so her and Sunisa could potentially medal on bars. Unless if Myk does really well at Trials, she’ll be an alternate in Tokyo.
She gets hammered on execution, especially international comps. I’d be very surprised if she even made alternate unfortunately. Amazing athlete and would prob make the team in most other countries, just too many athletes in the US who score better consistently.
Top E score of the night was an 8.4 (Sunisa Lee), so no way Myk would get an 8.5. Her E score seems right in comparison. This was the 4th highest floor score for the night.
I totally love MyKayla but there were lots of deductions. I'm not an expert by any means but here's what I saw... .1 on split leap half, .3 form and .3-.5 landing position and .1 hop on 1st pass .1 leg separation and .3 landing position and .1 hop on 2nd pass, .1 control and .1 ending precision wolf turn, .1 leg separation and .1 landing position and .1 slide/hop on 3rd pass, .1 lack of splits on split leap in leap combo (possibly .1-.3 for not getting all the way around in L leap/turn thing), .1 leg separation and .1 step last pass
When she lands that last pass that smile before even finishing knowing she nailed the routine haha so great
