I love watching things like this so I know I would rather pay someone to do it before I attempt

Dude I don't know if you do all your videos in this style but it's incredibly helpful! You could add some of the other components that you remove into this video title and it would help a lot more people find it and I just got to say great walkthrough with your comments and the You deserve more subscribers and views than you're getting, a little bit of title work would help draw more viewers I believe. Thanks, brother!

This is really an amazing video. Great quality, I can see what you're doing and you explain what you're doing. None of that "installation is reverse of removal, end of video" crap like other videos.
    Thank you, thank you!

Here is a trick. If the axle wont go in with a push it may go in with a jack. I was able to slowly lift the hub with a floor jack so the axle had a straight line into the differential. This pushed the axle in with very little effort in a slow controlled motion. This video saved me ~$2200. I bought the parts online (corteco mounts and a new bosch alternator - $300). and did the labor myself.

Great video. I just completed this job yesterday on a 2012 C300 4 matic. Exactly the same job. This is a hell of a job that ended up taking me about 10 hours to do. With a lift. I spent several of those hours just trying to get the mount top bolts out. It cannot be done without a crows foot 16mm or modified tool such as the one he used. If I had to do this again it may take me about 7 or 8 hours knowing what I did on this one. I don’t want to do this job again. Ever. Why Mercedes couldn’t have used a design that makes those top bolts 1” further out to make them accessible is an engineering failure. I learned a lot watching this video before I even started. Thank you.

I give you a ton of credit doing this job on the ground. I am a former MB Tech, now own my own mobile auto repair business and it still takes me 6- 8 hours on the ground especially here in NY with corrosion issues. I usually lose one exhaust bolt and both exhaust clamps due to rust. The tool he actually used was not modified. I have bought them on Ebay or Amazon. He shaved a little off because none of them fit on the right for some odd reason. A tip for that tool is using a long locking extension. it will hold it and you don't have to worry about the tool tilting or releasing. Also a flex head 16 or 17mm ratchet wrench if it is still snug after breaking it loose. The dealer gets alot to do this job to the tune of about $2,000+ which doesn't include broken hardware

Quesiton - did you have to remove the drivers side axle to get that new motor mount in?

You should edit the title and description and add some GLK Alternator keywords. This is exactly what I needed to know how to get alternator out. Thanks

Man, impressive. I was planning to do this myself (I am a DIY person, not a qualified tech). Must say your video is very detailed and nicely done. I am really impressed with your knowledge and skill at doing the job. Great! And good luck.

    Great video!
Really crappy job to do though. I am a former MB tech and it takes me forever to do these on the ground here in NY because of corrosion. One of the exhaust bolts usually snaps and I lose both clamps because I separate the pipes in the middle. Its easier than dealing with the entire exhaust on the ground by yourself. I just so happen to be replacing the front drive shaft today when I noticed the ears on the mounts were broken off because they used some cheap aftermarket. I ordered the wrench today. Always fun!

Completed engine mount replacement on 2010 4-matic. This video was instrumental!!!Welded a custom 16mm reversible ratcheting box end wrench to 3/8 socket (2.5 center-to-center) for amazing removal of notorious top bolt. Complete in 8 hours with 2.5 guys.

  • @red95gts

Thank you for this - I recently changed mounts on my daughter’s GLK350 4Matic and this video was a huge help. My only suggestion is that the motor mount tool is too long to be effective on the GLK. I ended up cutting it and welding a cheap crows foot to it to make the effective length shorter. Thanks again!

Great video! I just completed the same job (on a 2011 GLK 350) and was SURE I was going to figure out an easier way to do it, and cut out some steps. I was wrong. ;-) Everyone, do the steps as shown in this video, and it'll be quicker. The one thing I was able to do was to not pull the alternator out of the car, or disconnect it - just dropping it (still connected) was enough to get the mount out and in. I suspect the difference was the year of the car, since I could also get my bottom bolts in and out with the alternator in place. Thanks for making this video!

  • @vadneysean72

In the case of the w204 C300 4 matic the alternator is a bit different. One bolt underneath is accessible by removing the the power steering line bracket held in by 2 e10 screws from underneath and 1 of the sub frame bolts which is 18mm. I used a 10mm combination wrench to loosen alternator bolt. The alternator needs not come out but only move. Most everything else in this video is the same.

Hi AutoRex. I saw your nice presentation many times but I missed step-by step work of how you took out the passenger side mount. As far as I gathered from your clip the center bolt is still not out from Passenger side mount due to lack of room hitting the exhaust manifold. How did you take the center bolt out? Did you had to keep raising the engine until the center bolt comes out? or do you need to take it out? Would the mount slide out of the bracket and the mount and its center bolts come out together? thanks

Guys, before you do this job on a 2012 glk 350 4 matic.
It's not as easy as he makes it seem. It took me 9.0 hrs, and I'm a certified technician. The right side axle and alternator needs to be removed in order to install that motor mount. But his video is good, but I recommend buying the correct tool from snap- on to remove the motor mounts. If not, you will hate this job.
