    This video was actually on point, had a good pace, provided useful info and most importantly helped me make a choice. That’s pretty rare on TH-cam these days. Thanks.
    (I’ll go with raindrop based on what you say. Having to pay forever to be able to keep stuff is a no go for me)

    Raindrop also has a student plan, which I've signed up to, and have been gradually importing my browser and Diigo bookmarks to it. I'm still working out my organisational structure, though Raindrop is one of those apps where I am going to be heavy on tagging.
    Only snag with Raindrop though, is that it doesn't have a native Linux client.

    Clear comparison.
    I don't use this visual bookmarking apps (yet?). My current main workflow regarding web source info goes from browser > instapaper and/or hypothes.is > Readwise > Obsidian.
    Not sure if adding more apps and filters to our already stressed workflows worths it.

    • @SantiYounger
      @SantiYounger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      to be honest I think your flow is great, you might not need these bookmark manager apps atm. Your workflow is better specially if you want to annotate pages for sure. I use raindrop pretty much as just a personal collection of bookmarks that I want to find later quickly. I used to use hypothesis for annotations, but right now Im using Readwise's reader app (not sure if it's public yet) but it's the best one for annotations

    Raindrop is really awesome I've used it for like a year!
    As a bookmark manager it does a really good job. (Although I admit I'm waiting for Readwise Reader to try out XD)
    Btw have you tried Matter before? I feel like its another alternative as well. (But I think its iOS only and Android coming, its one reason that I never tried it tho)

    • @SantiYounger
      @SantiYounger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion reader is not an alternative to Readwise, at least for the way I use Readwise vs Reader. I use Reader (beta version) as a read-later app, and Raindrop as a way to store things I want to be able to find later. But I do see how they could be somewhat interchangable.
      And I keep hearing good things about Matter, but yeah they are still working on the Android app, but really looking forward to trying it!

    I use Obsidian as a Visual Bookmark Manager. Why would I want to manage bookmarks outside that app? You can even use Obsidian with browser functionalities using s, so your bookmark is the website per se, rendered in a note.

    • @SantiYounger
      @SantiYounger  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      nice idea, glad that works for you. Personally I find that not fast enough as a quick way to capture and organize bookmarks. specially on mobile.
      I find raindrop great, specially because I can then quickly search for things without confusing bookmarks and notes. I think Obsidian is amazing for longform writing but I don't find it that useful for managing a lot of bookmark links. But if Obsidian works for you that's great, just sharing my take for others reading this

    I have used read-it-later apps and book mark apps for a long time. The same thing always happens, they become a junk drawer. I guess I have a tendency to google first and just skip over the idea I might have something book marked or in a RIL app. Any suggestions on how to deal with the propensity to junk drawer everything?

    • @SantiYounger
      @SantiYounger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know what you mean, I think as long as that junk drawer is still useful to you then I wouldn't work about it. This is why I like a separate app for collecting bookmarks (instead of doing it in my main note taker) I see this apps as a way for me to quickly search everything ive saved, i even use raindrops as a read later app, i only use it as a way to collect everything i want to be able to search in the future.
      For read later I actually use the new app by readwise (reader app) of course you can still use raindrop, perhaps but making a separate folder, but for me having separate apps makes it easier.
      In fewer words, i just raindrop for searching bookmarks that I'll want to find though search again in the future, the read-later part of it i use a different for that
      Hope that helps

    Why not just use Obsidian to save bookmarks? Why do we need yet another piece of software for this at all?

    • @SantiYounger
      @SantiYounger  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Feel free to use Obsidian, I just think using Obsidian for bookmarks quickly turns into a mess hard to search. That's why I like raindrop it's fast and search is excellent without conflicting that search with my notes

    • @aungthuhein007
