The good thing is, Trump is an idiot so before any of it manifested he stumbled on his own two feet, and Biden is not much better. They both are so embarrassing, that the US didn't want to have that war, with those men being the representatives. They being very incompetent and troublesome, kind of like spontanously messing things up so severly that their reputation gets irreversibly damaged same as public faith, is a fortunate thing for the world.

    I like your videos. It shows me how good our shows really are. We here in Germany know this show and take it for granted. We don't think about how good we have it. In every way. That's probably why the populists get so many votes. People do not value what they have.

      TBH the AfD might be a bit populist, but is in fact the only real opposition in parliament. Also they do not shy away from asking important questions, e.g. 'who blew up Nord Stream?'. Which is something NONE of the other parties do. They also say we need to TALK to Putin, all other parties say 'Putin must be defeated' (knowing that a nuclear power can not be defeated).

      Europe also has the problem of a hidden/media-supported left wing agenda more or less throughout the EU, restricting many aspects of their habitants' lives, in Germany even restricting the "Grundrechte" from the German constitution in the recent past, following destructive ideologies over common sense. That may not look as bad right now for some people, but as it's said in Germany "Wehret den Anfängen", and that doesn't only apply to right-wing but also to left-wing politics. Populism definitely is a thing in Germany these days. You mentioned the AfD and it's a heated topic but it originated from an actual problem. The former east of Germany got treated rather poorly after the reunification, leading to quiet triste statistics in some areas. In the beginning there was little help from the flourishing west Germany and even today a lot of worries from the east were brushed under the rug. A lot has piled up in these decades, which lead to huge frustration in the east. Now in comes a party shouting these things into public view and claims to solve the issues. You got a recipe for attention, especially considering many of their politicians often mocking the current government, this goes along with the mindset of many frustrated citizen. The whole topic is way too complex for a simple comment on YT but even as an east German I dont approve this party/ movement. Its a lot of smoke and mirrors and there are no such things as quick fixes in democracy. As history told us: whenever someone comes along, claiming to have THE solution for all of your problems and it'll be easy, it's gonna end up in a shitshow or an outright catastrophy...

      That's utter BS. From the moment of unification, a lot of money went to the east, a lot of redevelopment was done. The people in the East tend to forget why unification came about in the first place: because the GDR was bankrupt! The people ignore that, they remember that everybody had a job that paid well, even if it was counting grain, even if the stores were empty and you couldn't buy anything with the money you earned. After unification, everything that wasn't profitable was shut down, yes. Mistakes were no doubt made. But the story the people from the East tell is simply not fact accurate.

    • @Kiyuja
      @Kiyuja 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@cl8733 no you are just misinformed I guess. Part of the unification process was to include the east in the rhine capitalism. This meant the east had to provide whole sectors of service they simply didnt have. The west had decades to develop them and now all of a sudden the east needed them too. Farming and manufacturing no longer was the only thing you'd need. The east had to invest massive resources for this undertaking, which they didnt have, the banks were literally empty. A coping strategy was to let western investors buy massive amounts of property. To this day this is still the case and there is a huge amount of private ownership from westerners of eastern property so to speak. Not only was the former east completely on their own with tackling the adaptation, there also constantly was a condescending tone from the west. Quiet honestly this has still persisted to this day. This was where the first problems got rolling that now became the boulders for the eastern frustration. Little to no help, mockery, loss of perspective (especially on the country side) and little political motivation to change any of this for the east in decades. There are plenty of ressouces out there for you to check out like true home ownership statistics not to mention YT videos trying to explain it. There are still many differences like wages west to east etc. This whole topic is not as easy as you think...but i know history books wont tell you about every little detail of a certain period in time...

    Are you familiar with the 'nokherberg'? Geography aside it is also the name of a certain satire/comedy event which takes place in Munich once a year during carneval. Basically, a bunch of german politicians come together to listen to people making satire about them. While you can't exactly visit the event in person if you don't have an invitation it gets broadcastet on tv and you can always find it on youtube. It starts with a, in my opinion, very well written and entertaining speech followed by a musical with the actors playing various german politicians. During the musical they always get into the most ridicoulus situations. Last time they ended up lost on an uninhabited island. Probably too long for a reaction video but if you have the time and are interested I can only recommend watching it.

Statements like "A shop that is closed does not go bankrupt, its only not selling anything anymore." (in context with the lockdowns, and rising energy cost). A comedian can't make that up, because he would think it sounds too stupid.

      Of all the examples available, you chose THIS ONE?! See, THAT is a problem in German politics these days, too. The PEOPLE are far too lazy to really think about what politicians actually say and just follow the very first headline of tabloid press to get mad about everything, regardless of if its justified or not; This sentence shown here is what we literally watched for over two years of covid pandemic; Shops that were forced to close DID NOT GO BANKRUPT; It was "just" a temporary closure, and politics had to support them, but they DID NOT GO BAKRUPT. And nothing else was said with this sentence, that closure doesnt HAS to end up in bankruptcy.

    I think the "well groomed" part was just a literal translation of a description that possibly could fit a midlife crisis/penile compensation car. "Frisiert" can also mean "tuned up", like you would describe a modded car, so maybe a way to read this would be "Stupid, loud and tuned up extremely well".
    To be clear, I would say it was the right move to leave that translated literally even if that was the intention, because there would be no good way of squeezing that into concise subtitles; this was just my thought as an alternative to the "lol, comb your hair much" reading

    • @silkwesir1444
      @silkwesir1444 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No it was just straight irony, coupled with inaccurate subtitles. "frisiert" only applies to the hair, while "groomed" can mean all kinds of hygiene, styling, workout etc.

    3:47 We've had our fair share of reactionary populists, just spouting slogans of whatever people want to hear. Every democratic nation has those, at least to some degree, as far as I'm aware. But we also have our fair share of actual Trump supporters and hardliners.
    During Corona, I was working in a general food and drink store, and we had one regular customer, who said (and I'm quoting directly) that he "thanks God for every day Donald Trump remains alive and in office." This same man also believed every conspiracy theory type deal, every bit of obvious fake news, every bullshit piece of Trump propaganda, and was constantly prophesying the next big thing, which never came and never happened, and he kept blindly believing anyway, and feeling quite smug and superior about it.
    Blind Ignorance and hate for the Other exists everywhere, and sadly over here in Germany it often seems that the people that complain the loudest about how Germany shouldn't have to be constantly reminded of its past are usually the ones who have yet to learn the lessons of that past in any significant way...

    • @kcEreon
      @kcEreon 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your customer during Corona sounds like an extreme case to me, but let me ask you something considering Corona: Did you also "believe every" maybe-not-so-obvious bit of 'fake news' or rather false information about (have to use German now)
      etc.
      Imo, "was constantly prophesying the next big thing, which never came and never happened, and he kept blindly believing anyway" also sounds a whole lot like our health minister Karl Lauterbach (who sometimes gets called the panic minister, and I think for good reason).
      One last question: I'm not a fan of Trump, but how often do the German media and press report negatively about Trump and how often they do it about Biden? In my experience, the latter almost never happens, but it's not because there's nothing to be reported.
