When India was struggling with poverty , Mr. Menon was busy in declining Indian Food and used to have Toast. He spent 28Yrs in Britain and English Suits were his favorites. Used to have only those people around him who appreciated his every decision.
No doubt why great Military leader General Thimayya was forced to resign. Even, Sardar Patel disliked him.
No doubt, why India lost 1962 Sino-Indian war.
You are right.....Menon should have worn dhoti like Gandhi......That would have really impressed Americans, British, Russians and the United Nations in the 1950's.....

Dr. Radha Krishanan, who refused and told Nehru that better later should join him. After return from NEFA, Dr. RAdha Krishanan told Nehru to ask V.K. Krishmenon to resign or be ready to tender his own resignation.

Its just possible because of Menon's interference of Bha Bha's day to day work when he had no knowledge in that field and he was a Hindrance to Bha Bha's work. Menon was only a PET of Nehru the only qualification that he had.

The man who never agreed to bow down to Americans or English. Yes he had his attitude which the westerns couldn't digest coming from a black Indian. So much charisma, stubborness, heat, arrogance, attitude coming from Indian who never thought him or his his country any less on this globe. He ordered an enquiry on Field Marshall Late sam maneckshaw during his time as Defence minister he accused him of being more British then Indian and all the accusations were considered very comical. Field Marshall Late Sam maneckshaw was a very cheerfull person he had all the discipline required but at the same time very jolly outrageous and fearlessly humours and may be Mr. Menon never liked it and considered him too much English. His relationship with then General Late thimayya were also very dicey, General Late thimayya gave his resignation due to dispute with Mr. Menon. His resignation wasn't accepted and later on he retired in may 1961, year before the indo China war. As a matter of fact what has happened has happened nobody can change it we lost the war, but there would have been better results during indo China war, if there were close alliance between Mr. Menon and then top officials of the army. Mr. Menon being a very sharp person was very particular about what he wants and somewhere may be he lacked to understand and accept other people's opinion over his opinion.
But I think it's really wrong to judge him over one incident. He was a brilliant economist with B. SC and M. SC in economics from University of London. An evil genius, unexpected, highly abrasive personality. Not everyones cup of tea.

I think he was in a wrong profession he could have served as an excellent officer and then would have understood the Defence and its people better.
Still 10 on 10 respect for this man for being true to his nation and to himself.
