Super to hear the combine was repaired. I remember sitting in this era of Deere machines at the Minnesota State Fair on Machinery Hill.

Thanks for the follow up on this machine Sam!! The recon mission for the 6620 was the first video i watched of yours, thinking man this guys a heck of a operator for sure. Still running a 6600 myself. As a teenager back in the late 80s i remember the titan ll being introduced in the john deere day movies. Thanks again sam!!

I didn’t realize the combine was that old! I think you’re right about jacking up to grease like doing a kingpin. Excellent intro also

Regarding jacking the axle up to grease it, that is what I had been taught all my life, for all machines and I taught my mechanics the same.

Nice video -- thanks. Good to learn a little bit about combining. I drove truck from SoCal to New England regularly back in the late '70s mostly on I-80 and watched the progress of the crops all season, from planting through the harvest. Farmers and truck drivers -- both very dependent on the weather.
Glad Matt sent me over to your channel -- great content!

The newer combines do a lot better job driving themselves. I worked in a Deere dealership in the early 1980s (1980-1985) and we were selling the earlier 4400-7700 series combines then. I was the controller. My wife owns farm ground here in Illinois and my brother in law and nephew farm it so I enjoy thes farming posts.

My neighbor "Farmer John" has an 80s John Deere combine. I never knew how complicated one of those things was unril I helped him change belt and screen settings to go from soybeans to rye. Literally hundreds of different settings and a manual the size of a telephone book to tell you how to set it depending on the crop and dryness. Great video, liked it much!

Only once ever in a combine and it was an older model, I think the early 90`s, anyway after about 200yards I was almost cross-eyed watching the corn go through, good job I wasn't driving. How they used to do acres at a time I don't know.

On the refueling hoses on the C-130 that refuels the helicopters. 2 each, on on each end, piece of wire. It acts like that snap ring. Granted that was over 30 years ago. Not sure if it has changed.

They said why the moisture stayed higher in corn this year was because of the lack of UV rays because of the smoke from the forest fires in Canada. We had record yields this year in Southwestern Ohio, also cost where record high.

It was a good decision to repair than toss an otherwise well-working machine. It sure cost money and time - but I bet the average farmer has more time than money - and buying another harvester would have been a more financial challenge. Thanks for sharing !

    About our walk around.
If I may be so bold, why don't you add extra grease nipples? Surely, that would ease your worry of not having to revisit the same damage, not to mention expenses again, in the future. After all, it's not difficult to add, just time-consuming, and if you make a video of it for TH-cam, then you'll make enough money to pay for the parts and some when we watch, comment, and give it the thumbs up 👍😁🇬🇧🇺🇦⚒️
