    I have a 2013 first generation XT1200Z. I enjoyed this video thanks and agree with most things, but just to clarify the switching on/off issue you referred to. When the bike has warmed up there is no problem at all with switching on and off. But don't switch the bike off immediately after starting from cold (e.g. to go back to the house for something you have forgotten), and try not to stall it. On some XT1200's, not all, this can cause what is known as a "hard start". I.e. The engine seems to flood with fuel and won't restart. To overcome this the easiest thing to do is to remove the fuel pump fuse (in fuse box under fairing on right hand side of bike) press the starter button to turn the engine over a few times, this will burn off excess fuel, then refit fuse and you should be good to go.

      @@rugby3874 I think this problem is more prevalent in Gen 1 (pre 2014) bikes. It doesn't seem to effect all bikes but it's common enough for numerous posts about it on the various Super Tenere forums. It was certainly an issue with my bike.

      I just bought a 2013 and glad to hear this tip. hasn't happened to me (yet) but I'll tuck that tidbit away and remember when I'm stating out for the day, especially in the cold.

    I bought my brand new XT1200ZE Super Tenere in 2017 for £15k. I have covered 45000 miles since new as I make my living on bikes. It's a fantastic bike. Out of the modes I have the Sport mode best for everything I do I find, I think the touring mode is so sluggish in almost every dynamic of riding, but each to their own wants/needs. The bike handles very well doing everything. You can sit on it for long periods and you can get 200 miles out of the tank range, depending on how you ride. The ZE version has the electronic suspension adjustment on it which is fantastic and is the same as it is on the 2016 FJR1300AE Yamaha road sport touring machine. Great bike and massively under rated, but to those that know it well it is a great bike, utterly reliable strong mechanics.

    I bought a 2010 model XT1200Z 3 years ago with 49k
    Kilometers (+- 30k miles) on the clock.I have since ridden it on and off road) another 30k miles in South Africa.What a great dependable bike!! My next bike will probably also be another Super Ten

    I have a 2017 XT1200Z and I believe that it is probably the most overlooked bike ever! Thanks for the Angel Eyes tip

    I owned a 2013 for 34,000 miles, got it NOS in 2016. Was a great bike, really loved it. I would suggest getting a ECU reflash to take care of the throttle snap, the problem is these bikes completely cut the injectors on decel, so you gio from fuel on / fuel off immediately. My flash they adjusted that, and reduced the engine braking a bit too and it made the bike much smoother for me.
    I think the best tires I ran on that bike were the Bridgestone AX41 battle cross adventure tires - they were fantastic on and off road, but they don't last long and the front is very loud. Mitas E--07+ would be my second pick as a 50/50 tire.
    I re-sprung the bike, and think its great. I would definitely get another in the future - I traded it in for the new hotness, the T700.
    Ride safe!
    Mike

    I just bought a 15 Super Tenere ES with only 7k and it came with a lot of extras one of which is a Yoshimura RS4 slip on. Sounds incredible and I wouldn't want any more power. I'm in Texas and and I can cruise with the big boys and then abruptly turn off to a country road and go exploring. I did change out the saddle to a Sargent....great kept secret and very under rated bike.

    HI Jayy I have a 2019 ES and have had all the different bikes like you, your summary of the bike is spot on, I wont be changing anytime soon what a fabulous bike. I have just fitted a set of Dunlop Trailmax Mission tyres they work exceptionally well on the heaver bike.

      Hi
      Could you tell me where you have had yours reflashed please?
      I am thinking to do it on mine 2020...
      How much was that?
      Thank you.

    I think you will find you won't get 300/350 miles range out of one 23ltr fuel tank my friend. If you do I want to see you do it and with proper proof, but good luck with that.

      If he meant to say kilometers, that sits about what I am getting on a 2013 or a bit low.
      I get about 220miles/tank if not riding too aggressively but his numbers come in at well over 50mpg.
      I haven't seen that on this bike and I haven't even loaded up for a trip yet.

    "43mm of travel??" 🤣Are you sure you didn't misspeak there? The forks are 43mm diameter; the travel is way more than that.

  • @deadarmdr2402
    @deadarmdr2402 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    only 43 mm of travel on front suspension?

    • @ernieschatz3783
      @ernieschatz3783 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! He had to have misspoken, because that would be horrible. It has 43mm diameter front fork legs and 190mm of travel. I've owned one and would never have bought an adventure bike with less only 2 inches of fork travel. 🤣😂 Sorta makes one think that he really doesn't spend much time off road despite the impression he's giving.
