What brand of toilet is the first one? I have a toilet with exactly these fittings and I can't remove the chrome plate as the whole black rubber fixture under it appears to be loose and it wont separate from the chrome top. Is it possible to buy and install new fittings? Thanks!

How about fixing the soft opening of the toilet seat

I thought about doing a video on that. The only trouble is, yes you can get replacement hinges, however you would have to know the make of your seat or be able to identify the hinge type out of the quite numerous amount of types there are on the market and order the parts online. I would imagine for most people it may be just easier to order a new seat if the damper has failed.
