Yes, always such a nice feeling when they are around. Often see the red eye and laughing together in Jeffrey's Bay area. Very nice as they aren't hostile towards each other.

Amazing how bird sounds can remind you of your childhood. For me it is the call of the Fiery-necked Nightjar at night that reminds me of my childhood on the farm.
@@lynetterudman 😁😁 As kids we would try to imitate those bird calls as music. lol Gave me an idea as an adult to create a song remix using that as a sample.
I actually have despised that hyper-repetitive call since visiting the bush while living in Johannesburg for a few years. But maybe if I learn them all, i could come to appreciate it.
I can see how you think that. If you say it with the calls it does sound a bit like that’s what they are saying. Either way they are two beautiful sounds of South Africa that I really miss.
the red eyed dove and ring necked dove will always remind me of waking up on a saturday morning and hearing these birds calling, its really nostalgic for me
Thank you Lynette! I’ve been living in Eswatini (Swaziland) for four years and trying to learn what birds are making the different calls that I hear regularly-especially the one I’ve been calling the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ bird (Red-eyed Dove).
Not just Southern African by the way, I hear these calls all the time in East Africa, especially the Red-Eyed and Ring-Necked dove calls. Thanks for sharing
I found it! I heard a ring-necked dove on a video on the internet and I got such a hit of nostalgia I had to figure out what it was 🤗 (and now I know it's a red-eyed dove I hear all the time)
It is amazing how certain bird calls can remind you of things. With me it is the call of the Fiery-necked Nightjar at night on a farm where I grew up. I remember as a young child lying in bed listening to the call and wondering what the bird looked like.
Thank you! Dankie.. Finally, i know the name of the beautiful bird that I woke up to and lived with for a year and hear every time I watch any nature films on Nat Geo.. I have been wanting to know the name of this bird for over 25 years! Such wonderful memories that this song bird bring back to me..
Finally my search has come to conclusion. I was searching for dove sounds but wasn't really getting what I was looking for. Now I have. Its Exactly the same sounds in Kenya.
In the film Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, about an hour and a 29 minutes through, you can hear a call like the red-eyed dove's, although my resources say it's exclusively an African dove. Is there a species with a similar call in New Mexico, where the film was shot in 1973? A Bird Watching HQ site mentions 7 doves/pigeons in New Mexico: mourning dove (not Streptopelia decipiens), rock dove/pigeon, Eurasian collared dove, white-winged dove, band-tailed pigeon, Inca dove, common ground dove - no red-eyed doves. Thanks
Some people say that in case of Senegal or palm dove only the male make a call and female not do this is it true? What is the difference in sound of male and female Senegal or palm dove?????
I have an albino dove, his call pattern is the same as a ring neck but at the same pitch of a mourning dove. I've had him him for 19 years, going on 20. I've been trying for so long to pinpoint his breed.
Angola the same doves and more 4 as I remember .one brown very big , a green one big too , a mountain one with a long neck , and in the north a small one the double size of a sparrow. Maby half size what you call namakua dove .what I never see is a tambourine dove .
The only large ring-necked dove from the Eastern Cape region of South Africa is the Red-eyed Dove, and it features at #2 in this video. There aren't any other doves here with the black collar on the neck.
@@lynetterudman I think you might be right. Granted the image doesn't do it much justice, but listening to the audio again does confirm what you're saying.
Hi, the third dove is a Cape Turtle Dove. This video is one of my older videos. I have now started doing more narration in my more recent videos for my blind subscribers. Thanks for letting me know that you are blind. I now know of 3 blind subscribers than I have on my channel and I will definitely announce the name of the birds before each one sings. I will redo this video for you in the new year and send you the link.
I think we can all agree that the Ring necked and Red Eyed Doves just bring back nostolgic Saturday mornings. A sense of euphoria here in South Africa
I totally agree. They are the sound of Africa.
Come to Lake Victoria region for a nonstop Mourning dove 😊
Yes, always such a nice feeling when they are around. Often see the red eye and laughing together in Jeffrey's Bay area. Very nice as they aren't hostile towards each other.
Whenever I hear a Red eyed dove, I always get nostalgic memories of my childhood home back in South Africa
Was it difficult for you to get a visa to leave country?
These Doves sound awesome. Like they just dropped the opening beat for a song.

I agree! My grandmother gave a little rhyme to these Red-eye calls in Afrikaans - 'Klein Faan, my-voet-is-seer!'
Thanks. The red eyed dove sounds always bring me those nostalgic memories of my home village in Malawi.
