In '87 for my high school graduation, they performed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL for Grad Night - it was a lot of fun watching them do this hit song live.
@@markvonmeding6246 They were the headline act playing in front of the castle. There were others smaller acts like "someday" by Glass Tiger and a few others, but Wang Chung was the biggest band there that late night (it was after the park closed only for students across the state)- it was a lot of fun.
@@muffs55mercury61 I felt at the time so lucky that they started doing this - grad night for high school students across the state of Florida. Unfortunately, one bad memory were some drunk students from Miami. They jumped out of "It's A Small World" ride and broke some of the figurines. As a result, when it reopened later in the evening they had people on "deck" on many of the rides, which ruined the effect to ensure more drunk students would not damage more of the rides. I have no idea if they still do it today or had to give it up sponsoring this night because of misbehaving senior graduates.
@@danielkyavata6233 my opinion is the opposite. I think the 80s were great for pop music especially because musicians from non-English countries tried to access Anglophone markets. New Wave, Synthpop, Techno and Eurobeat were pretty much continental European trends that became popular worldwide

Good job man thanks!!!!
Listening to this , it's almost as though I've magically and literally been whisked away, back to 1986!
In '87 for my high school graduation, they performed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL for Grad Night - it was a lot of fun watching them do this hit song live.
That's awesome and I never say awesome
@@markvonmeding6246 They were the headline act playing in front of the castle. There were others smaller acts like "someday" by Glass Tiger and a few others, but Wang Chung was the biggest band there that late night (it was after the park closed only for students across the state)- it was a lot of fun.
You were blessed. One of the things memories are made of.Even 34 years won't diminish that.
I have no idea if they still do it today or had to give it up sponsoring this night because of misbehaving senior graduates.
were they able to move fast like in the video?
The 80's were more fun than most people realize🐴
😏👍🐳
The 80s were created just for fun!! Forgive me this pun!! I simply couldn't resist!
even homeless people were happier in the 80'S [A MIGHT BIT EXAGGERATED !!] but you get the point ENJOY THE NIGHT !!
Perhaps superman could give the earth a good 30 year spin
So true XD

Man...The 80`s are a trove of treasures
That and the 90s are the height of American culture. I've slowly become convinced of this!
@@danielkyavata6233 The 1950's and 1960's were pretty wonderful too.
@@danielkyavata6233 my opinion is the opposite. I think the 80s were great for pop music especially because musicians from non-English countries tried to access Anglophone markets. New Wave, Synthpop, Techno and Eurobeat were pretty much continental European trends that became popular worldwide
@@gazpachopolice7211 I remember the comment you got your name from lol. I don't think any politician ever has induced as many facepalms as Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The 80's, where people STILL GO to have fun.
60[s and 70's were pretty hot too!
Yes indeed
I go to the brothel
I don't know how anyone could dislike this song. It is about fun and life is too short to not enjoy the time we have here on earth.
This is a rather cheery jam but the music video, I don't know, it's weird and I don't think in a good way either lol
I agree that I think it's just the seizure-inducing video for people who didn't even know they were sensitive. I love the song, but it got to a point wherein the video was completely unwatchable. That's why I'm now in the comments! ;)
I love this song but the video stinks.
It really mean that we all have a short time on Earth and we have to make use of the life we have before died.hello👋
Say what you want, but this video is better in camera work and quality than that of Despacito.
Was stuck in my head since 3 this morning, almost four hours later I'm finally listening to it 😅 It's way better than my rendition!
Another perfect example of great song meets bizarre music video.
Director: Ok I need you to perform this song about having fun but do it with all the enthusiasm of someone waiting impatiently for a bus.
Singer: Are you sure? I don't think looking bored/pissed off really matches the tone of the song.
Director: Trust me we'll add some seizure inducing strobe effects later, it'll be AWESOME!!
😂👌 oh, the accuracy...

Beginning of the 80s Music Videos were a brand new feature. I think the singer played his part low key. I love this song and saw it back in the day. It was very "New Wave" at that time
Well yeah, the song is amazing, the music video for it however is a unique blend of fascinating and terrible lol
this video's iconic
Who’s playing this at their New Year’s Eve party?🎉
Here’s to a happy 2024!

you know everybody is going to say the time period they grew up with was fun... its literally you being young and just having new experiences ..nothing new about that with later generations you still are able to experience previous generation songs ..you tend to have a bigger library to experience really. i was born end of 80's myself but grew up in the 90's

My boyfriend and I just saw Wang Chung as part of the Totally Tubular Fest! They gave one of the best performances, for sure!
I am 54 now and this was the jam back in the day when I was in high school 1986-1987

It is as if the entire history of pop music was leading to this single in 1986. It was glorious, and will likely never be repeated in our lifetimes.
I know it says 86, but I saw them in 1984 open for The Cars, and they sang this song. Not sure how/why they put 1986..
Man, if only I had been there, @@gc4644 . The reason it's 1986 is that was the year that the single was officially released, as the lead single for the Mosaic studio album. They probably used the 1984 tour to preview material they were working on, to gauge the reaction, and to give the audience something they weren't expecting. I don't blame them. When you open for a band like The Cars, you've got to pull out all the stops to get the crowd to remember you after its over. What was it like when you all heard this in 1984? Because this sure ain't Dance Hall Days, which was their big single at the time.
@@Beatnik59 wasn’t “To Live And Die In LA” also 1984? I have “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” on a 45 single and the picture sleeve is open on the side, not the top like most 45RPM pic sleeves.

There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them..

Thats hilarious. 🤣🤣😂😂
Thanks for the laugh!
Thank you. I needed to smile today.
I think my favorite part of this band is how happy and fun everyone sounds, then you watch the music video and the happy singing man, Jack Hues, looks like he's going to tear your heart out of your chest. The absolute death glare the entire time.
I used to dance in the dark while turning this up while being alone in My house! Even my late mother loved this song! Everyone Wang Chung!
EVERYBODY HAVE FUN TONIGHT!! ❤
I was 20 at University when this dropped... My God was it a hit and heard all of the time. When the DJ spun this up the floor went CRAZY.
I had fun tonight. I also Wang Chunged tonight.
Yes, that never gets old ........
Wouldn't that be "I also wanged chung..."?
I also thought the same. I guess it depends on how the wanging of the chung occurred and if the wang was more dominant than the chung itself. In conclusion I believe you're correct due to they way he/she describes the activity.
wang means phallus in slang
wang's cars is also a car saloon in gta sa
When he said Everybody have fun tonight, I hope everyone had fun that night

Wang Chung were a British new wave band and this tune charted number 2 stateside but only 76 in UK. Strange.
British New Wave bands were a big deal in the US. It never quite got the attention the genre deserves in the UK.
I can see the tune and video might be tailored to an American market.. especially the major metropolitan areas where there were lots of Yuppies ! New wave bands did get plenty of exposure in the UK but I'd say the record company decided to focus their promotion for this tune stateside.
