This song was blasting everywhere from record stores as I explored the sites of London when I first landed there in 1989.... matched my walking pace perfectly. I was in basic training in the army when this song came out. It was played everywhere and i hated it. Years later, it has grown on me and fills me with nostalgia...
This song immediately transports us to a time full of energy, style and rebellion. It reminds us of the fashion of the 80s, with its voluminous hairstyles, its bright colors and its easygoing attitude. It evokes images of parties, discos and frenetic dancing. It makes us feel the excitement and fun of a golden age in pop music. But the nostalgia we feel for "She She Drives Me Crazy" goes beyond its aesthetics and its sound. This song represents a time when music was an integral part of our everyday lives. There were no streaming platforms or social networks, and music was enjoyed on the radio, on vinyl records and on MTV video clips. Each song had its own meaning and its own story, and became the soundtrack of our lives.
I do not know what kind of snare that is, but back in that day, it was used in some other songs, too. The first song that introduced me to that snare was "O.M.D. - If You Leave", then the only others that I can remember in order were "Cameo - Word Up" and "Savage Garden - I Want You". That was all I can remember so far.
@@befdoglover1 if I’m not mistaken they actually had a mic pick up the hit on the snare and play it back through a speaker aimed at the underside of the snare

Wasn't really "ahead of time." That time was mostly what everyone thinks they're trying to achieve now. Todays social persona is so unfortunately regressive. It's like some dystopian version of the 1940's and 50's. I wish young people today could feel as free as we did back then.
It became a favorite song amongst me and my classmates in grade 1 of 1990. Still remembering all of us singing during lunch breaks and after school walking back home. Still sounding good today.

Wesley Tremblay .. especially that distorted guitar !!! Actually just yesterday I did have it cranked big time on my own at a live music venue P.A. at 5 am, on repeat, moving around listening to it in different spots in the room .. it was such a rush .. as well The Fugees' Killing Me Softly on repeat for over an hour .. sonically and production wise quite magical and groundbreaking .. they definitely took music to another place .. so logical that Wyclef should become such an in demand producer subsequently .. but I digress !!! For me these are definitely spiritual experiences bringing me to tears at the sheer beauty we humans can create at times !!! 😁
At 00:15 that's one of the finest guitar tones you'll ever hear. Some people search their entire lives to find a tone like that! But alas, most never do.
Interesting thing about nostalgia is in the old days in Greek the root of the word meant " homecoming" and "pain" and it was considered a disabling medically fatal condition. Basically the desire to go "home " but knowing you never can...😔

This is one of those songs that was played so much when it came out that you almost became numb to it, like it was radio fast food. But listening with fresh ears now…goddamn, this is a fantastic song!!
I was just thinking the same. This was the bumper music and commercial music for a local radio station so it sort of just became "there" after a while. Listening to it now it is so much better!

No digital technology, but a very creative video. In 1988 we had superb music and talented video producers. "She drives me crazy" is a classic of that unforgettable decade.

This song was blasting everywhere from record stores as I explored the sites of London when I first landed there in 1989.... matched my walking pace perfectly. I had just moved there from Australia for a year on a work contract. It really helped set a hip vibe for the place and in the clubs, which I will never forget. Anyone here from BSG in Lower Edmonton?

Wasn't really "ahead of time." That time was mostly what everyone thinks they're trying to achieve now. Todays social persona is so unfortunately regressive. It's like some dystopian version of the 1940's and 50's. I wish young people today could feel as free as we did back then.
