I really enjoy your videos, for many reasons, but one I'd like to mention is your good taste for music and soundtrack. Often with a Latin-American flavour. As a Brazilian, I appreciate the occasional bossa nova.
Stunning photos, we’ve lost a lot of motivation for photography recently probably due to moving country, and the amount of snow makes it hard for us and wildlife to get around. Definitely want to get out and learn the new Norwegian environment and hopefully get some artic style photos
Great topic. I live in the high desert and blown out shots from the sun are always an issue. I can relate to that poor bird situation. Yesterday I saw a female bighorn sheep that couldn’t use one of her back legs. The rest of the herd scrambled up the mountainside and she was left behind. Nothing I could do about it, but it broke my heart. Shortly after, I saw a huge buck that had difficulty walking on its back end. Again, nothing I could do. It’s so hard when you spend a lot of time with wildlife, you realize what a difficult life they have.😢
Love the commentary, video and THE SOUNDTRACK! Aren't shorebirds fun? I sit my arse on the mud/sand, put the camera on a small beanbag, and use the flip up screen (or a external screen) to get low. Wet arse photography I call it.
Enjoyed the video Paul as I always do. (I spoke to you while you were making it). I would love to lie down and get a really low angle but for ancient folks like me, that is really problematic. I would have to roll over and get on my hands and knees to stand up again, thus getting covered in wet sand. A no/no for me when using expensive camera gear. That site however is a good compromise because crouching on the sand with the light behind me, facing the rocks and harbour wall and hand-holding or using a short monopod, there is a lot of action at eye level as the birds scrabble about the rocks searching for food Great work & look forward to the next one.
Hi Paul. Love the tape on your frypod. You should start a channel called the frugal photographer😅. I remember when you first used the frypod. I think it was on the last beach you went to in this video. I was inspired to make my own frypod which I have used for duck photography. As always a very entertaining and relatable video. Thanks for your efforts to put your videos out. I always enjoy them.

Excellent video - loved the oystercatcher footage. I've still got purple sandpiper on my 'to do' list but hopefully will see one sometime soonish! That was awful to see that particular one with its feet entwined. It must have been exhausting for it trying to walk.
Great video! Missed an opportunity for a public service announcement about cleaning up fishing gear. I enjoy fishing, but am always disgusted by the amount of fishing line people leave behind. It’s very easy to pick up stray bits left by others and dispose of it responsibly. It is sometimes possible to capture shorebirds and remove lines and hooks. Photography needn’t simply be a passive pursuit. While we’re out there, a few minutes of action can make a big difference. Cheers!
I actually did at times, but it's hard to track them running on the screen, especially in bright sun. Youre right though.. i definitely need to use the screen more.
Purple Sandpipers can be very confiding on the north side of the harbour too and the lighting can sometimes be better. They are usually looking for food on the concrete sea defences hence the backgrounds might not be as pleasing but no requirement to lie in the mud though unless you bring your own with you…
