+Jam Dev Which is rather unfortunate. Sidenote: I saw Deadpool, and I love it that movie to pieces, but it wasn't as subversive as I thought it would be. I mean sure their are timely references to the X-Men franchise and to the studio Fox, but there wasn't a lot of subversion of movie tropes/comic book movie tropes, like I was expecting it to be.

Why the hell am I so unnerved by the freaking promotional material? This should not be so frightening to me. Seriously though, I cannot wait for this movie, I am beyond excited for it. If its fright levels live up to the promotional material this'll easily be a horror film for the history books.

Everything I`ve heard about this movie seems to indicate that this is a horror movie done right. I really look forward to seeing this one.

While most mainstream horror films are focused on getting the audience to jump out of their seats repeatedly, indie horror films like The Babadook, It Follows, and most likely this are true horror films that really get to you. So hyped!

I have noticed a few people saying they are unimpressed by this movie trailer, but in reality they just like the trailers that give away all of the content such as story, characters, etc. where as this movie trailer's purpose is to simply give you chills and make you nervous (which it does for me) I believe this movie will be the next Exorcist and will be amazingly horrifying. While most people are used to the jump scares they do not realize what true horror is. True horror is not a scary face jumping out from the screen, but is actually more. True horror requires an eerie or dark atmosphere (obviously provided in this trailer), another key element is people not even trusting their own loved ones that they birthed or raised (hints in this trailer) and the final piece to a great horror film is an atmosphere which is like no other, which is used in "The VVitch". So people who say that these types of trailers are not horrifying, or unnerving in anyway and who say this movie will be bad, are technically wrong. Since this trailer portrays all elements that is required for a good horror film. But we are people so we will be entitled to our opinions, and some people prefer the cliche, jump scare every now and then scary movie, but if you are a fan of true horror, you find trailers and movies like this, mouth watering.
guys please... watch first (main) trailer, it explains this film much more. In this trailer it looks like the "witch" is that goat or children or idk what. Go watch the main trailer, there you will see what is this film about.
Btw. no dumb jumpscares, no possesed child doll, no footprints... It looks like really good horror movie, without those clichés. Even critics say that it is perfect. I am definitely going to see this.

This made me feel uncomfortable and nervous. There are few movies that make me nervous about what I will expect going in based on the trailers alone, and this is definitely one of them. This and BASKIN are my two most anticipated movies of 2016, so far.
This is how a trailer should be! Show enough that gets me interested and thinking, vague enough that I have no clue what's going on, so I must see it!

The Witch - 2015 is the best horror movie since Let The Right One In - 2008 and both of them are haunting, ominous and genuinely disturbing, ever present menace prowling upon the ground, lurking dread in the air..
I hope they use this guy in any Warhammer 40k film that's made with the Inquisition. He's perfect.

yes mate! but don't worry, there are a couple scary movies out now that not many people watch because they're not so much Hollywood. If you're into your horrors please watch it follows and the babadook.

This movie was disturbing AF! I fucking LOVED IT!
Hype is a potential killer for ANY film, and yet almost unavoidable. This goes for MANY things, not just films. When people hype up a film, and they walk in with a certain expectation (usually higher than it should be if you had only watched a trailer and not listened to reviews or peers) than you are running a large risk of that film not hitting the bar you set for it. The best movies are the ones that surprise you in how unexpectedly great they are (unexpectedly being the key word). I read some comments here, but am still trying to keep the expectations low. All I want is a "solid" horror film, period. If it's greater than that, then it's unexpected and I'll walk away happier than I would have if I expected it to be, as one person stated the "scariest film" that person had ever seen. Always take hype with a huge grain of salt, and lower your expectations if you stumble onto comments, reviews, etc. This goes for most things.
I'll go to the theater today, is it worth watching it?

Quite the contrast to The Last Witch Hunter. I can deal with a slow paced movie if it delivers the goods in the last half hour and ending. I thought it did.
What I love is at the end you expect a jumpscare so you're more on edge, expecting it. But it doesn't happen.

That's exactly what made this movie so uncomfortable. It wasn't typical cheap thrills like every other horror these days. It was a psychological roller coaster of possible reality. Quite scary to consider it happening in reality.
