1. Join or create a team.
2. Solo is great too but don't forget to interact with the community.
3. Make a devlog when you're done.
4. Relax and have fun, don't be too hard on yourself.
5. Work normal hours, don't burn yourself out.
6. Try new things.
7. Submit your game even if it's incomplete or buggy.
8. Be honest AND kind when giving feedback.
9. Come up with simple ideas.
10. Prototype with simple graphics. Check the gameplay first then polish.
11. Don't spend too much time on ideas and talking, start making the game.
12. Have someone outside the team playtest the game.
13. Make the game easy to play for yourself, otherwise it will be too hard for the players.
14. Extremely short games are fun, focus on quality rather than length.
15. Finish the game a couple hours before the game jam closes.
16. Give lots of feedback and ratings once the jam is over.
17. Winning the jam is not the most important thing.
18. Create a new project and open all your software before the theme is announced.
19. Meditate to clear your mind.
20. Don't give up, it's never too late to finish the game.
21. If you don't like to make art, sounds, music etc. and are not interested in learning download assets but don't forget to mention it.
22. Spend at least 1 hour on polishing.
23. Set goals. Why are you taking part in this jam?
24. If you're low on motivation watch some great game jam behind the scenes clips.
25. Make game jamming a fun hobby.
26. Make your game easy to play, put it on an accessible platform like web browser.
27. Avoid long texts explaining your game.
28. Start working even when motivation is low. Motivation comes with momentum.
29. Stay focused & avoid distractions.

Brain tip: Your brain works in 90-minute cycles. In between you will require a pause , whether you take a walk, grab a coffee or take a nap. This way you will spend less unproductive time. Additionally, after these pauses, you'll be more likely to get new ideas. That is, you'll be more likely to suddenly come up with a solution for any problem.

This is true. I find that whenever I'm stuck with a problem I can't fix, i usually when I come up with a solution when I take a break!

Amazing tip! Keeping it simple and making sure to polish it and play test it I think it's the best way to go for a fun jam game. And not overworking yourself is the best way to go for a fun game jam experience!

You are definitely NOT a noob but around intermediate-pro level. Im saying this cuz i myself am intermediate level game developer who has been making games for 2 years (learning for 5 years) and this will be my 9th or so game jam!

Game Jams terrify me. Time limits give me anxiety, even if it is a "lenient" week instead of a weekend.
Considering I'm in college, I would not say I'm very happy, honestly.
So that is actually a good oportunity for you to try join a team, if u short on time, try finding people to help you, or help each other to create something.
Just try to participate in one, there's no losing in a gamejam. It's fine if you don't finish you game on time, it's about the whole process where you perhaps learn something new. And if you do want to finish your game on time I suggest doing the following. Keep your scope small. Then make the entire game with just placeholder sprites and no sounds, so just with cubes, circles and whatever. I believe in you that you can make this prototype within no time at all! At this point you already have a game done, and stress levels will definitely lower if you have them. After that polish your game with those juicy graphics, sounds, and gamefeel :D Keeping your scope small is something that is most important in gamejams in my opinion, apart from having fun of course!!
Game Jams are not a competition. There are prizes sometimes, sure, but the real point is just to get you to put something out there. it doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to be finished (it almost certainly wont be finished) but it lets you express yourself and see what happens. you can always continue your project after the end of the jam, in fact several published games were first prototyped in game jams!
Don't stress, just have fun
Just going to say this: If I end up joining a Game Jam (likely this one, if any), I'll have to try to get in a team. Doing it all myself will just overwhelm me and make things worse, especially with me being new to game-making. How new? Outside of some ROM hacks I never finished and my time playing Mario Maker, I dabbled a bit in a couple engines and just didn't feel that comfortable. Hopefully finding a team eases some of my tension.

I don’t know why I’m watching this, I’m not a game dev anymore. (I couldn’t learn to code.) but here I am.
Edit 1 hour after post: I’ve decided I’m going to try and learn the basics of python so I can learn gdscript and Godot. I will edit again in 2 months to tell you all about how far I made it or... if I gave up. Wish me luck!
Theres only 1 tip i can give:
If you are making a level based game, remeber levels take more time to make than you think, dont leave less time for them.
