I disagree with "It just isn't cool" when touch screen is disabled when car is in motion, I have the 2016 CX5 GT AWD, and it's a safety feature to prevent you from leaning forward to touch and look at the screen.
MixingGBP The two aren't really apples to apples, the Subaru Outback being a significantly larger vehicle and really more of a wagon than a crossover SUV. Even though Subraru would have you believe it is an SUV - it's a wagon with more ground clearance. We have done a review on the Outback here: th-cam.com/video/ZacKITKPr8U/w-d-xo.html
I really want to like this car. I have a '13 vw Passat coming to the end of the lease. I drove the '16 cx-5 and I loved pretty much everything but the engine. On paper the cx-5 engine should be stronger, but I didn't get that feeling. I think I like my inline 5 more than this inline 4. If it was turbo'd I think it would be a better drivetrain. For the money, the cx-5 may not be a bad choice.
I am cross-shopping the 2015 CX-5 against the all new 2016 Tuscon. Tough decision here as they're both excellent vehicles with their differences. Comes down to personal choice and seat-of-pants feeling.

Sylvia Lopez It seems awfully close to the gearshift. Any problems accidentally hitting it with your forearms?
It's more dangerous looking down into the knob, don't you think so makes no different. LOL
I'm cross shopping between a 2016 CX-5 and a Subaru Forester. Which is better in the long run (8-10 years)? Thanks!
So then what do you like better in this class?
Great review. What other vehicles in this segment would you recommend that are more powerful and better designed?
I saw your test drive of the 2016 Toyota Rav4 hybrid and wanted to get your opinion on how the CX-5 stacks up? Thanks!
If you watched both videos, it's pretty clear the CX5 has a lot more soul and fun to drive character. It just comes with a few trade-offs.

MixingGBP What about the Forester? It's in the same segment as the CX5 and is probably a lot cheaper than the Outback. Not exactly stylish though.
Sam, any chance you are going to review the Mazda MX3?
briefman49 The CX3 compact crossover is expected in our local press fleet by year's end so there is a good chance at it ;)
TestDrivenTV I love your eyes when you do the money shot and what state do you live in
)??
Thank you Sam! Another great review.
A hugely polished video - great job! There is such a lot to go at in the new CX-5

The 184hp 2.5 is the only engine used now, no more 155hp 2.0
After watching this video review i purchased one .
Mazda cx5 gt fwd 2016 ...👍

I found the Tucson a very crappie drive. The turbo lag was brutal.
It's like a big, fat Miata lol
