When I bought my e53 X5 I had no idea it would be a life changer. Even with the additional maintenance issues, I don’t see myself settling for anything less than a BMW. It’s hard to describe unless you have one, but there’s something so solid and enjoyable about driving it. From the growl you hear when you push down the pedal to feeling like you’re enveloped in luxury and comfort. There’s nothing like a BMW!

I love how BMW stays true to their design language, they have never strayed far from it. The hoffmeister kink, the kidney grill, and the corona ring lights. I have a 13 yr old e46 and people are surprised when I tell them that. Their cars age really well, never looking dated.

for me it's E70 anyday.
I agree, not biased because I have one but the design has aged so well I still get looks and questions about it often. Despite being a 2008 model, it fits in with today’s car designs well. For the money, nothing looks and performs better than a clean, well equipped e70 x5. Other than cost of maintenance, best car I’ve ever owned
I also prefer the E70. May be a bit biased as I know a bunch of people who have owned them and I own one
For me the e53
e53 is the most likely car from x5 series its a huge monster car the new ones are like vans :(

A black E53 facelifted version is absolute perfection. They know that they make shitty products and that the older BMWs are way better, that's why they choose a not so good version of the E53 to desperately try to make the newer model look better, without success. lol

E70 is what got me into cars. 4.8i with 20 inch wheels is so beautiful. I am still trying to get used to the new design, but I have to say the interior is amazing.
i like the older one better.
The F15 looks like a X3 to me. E70 looks a lot better.

i meant in comparison to BMW. I have a Merc and BMW at home. They Merc is really comfortable. But it does not have the same feel as the BMW.
All solid. Feeling and attachment aside, the F15 is objectively the best option. Now now the G05. Steady consistent progression.
I have an f30 3 series and Merc E class. In general Mercs are softer than their BMW counterparts as in C = 3, E = 5 etc. You get what i mean?
Wow what to buy with new beautiful X5, luxurious ML and stylish Q7.....the Germans really raise up a level of design and technology..only thing missing is reliability but who cares when you're rich
Yes, if you mean direct rivals, you may be right. Doesn't apply to S-class and 7 series though.
I love the new X5 but I wonder how the price will raise D: given it is as luxurious as a top 7 Series.

Best looking x5 is the E53, than comes the F15. I've never liked the E70 look, i'm glad he f15 looks more aggresive but still E53 is where its at !

Well, if you have an E-Class and Z4 then I'm not surprised. But if you'd have 7 series and an E-class - the Merc would be the hard one ;). What I'm saying is that generalizing is not necessarily a good thing to do when comparing cars (or... whole brands).

I'm not really impressed by its exterior design. Love the interior though. I think it is true that nowadays BMW is ahead of the competition what it comes to finish and materials.
I like the first one best. The newer ones look like minivans.

I love my e70 x5 50i almost 100k miles and running strong. I even gapped a 2010 Mitsubishi evo the other day he was shocked 😂

Not only does is it a rival with the Merc ML, but now it got longer so it's also a rival with the Merc GL!!!
They really messed up with the exterior design on the f15. It does not have the mean presence and the 'Get out of the way ' look the e53 had. A 4.6 is with the 20 inch rims is still the best looking SUV for me.

2.53 he's told that the 1st generation is 4x4 ant the 2nd and the 3rd gen ir Xdrive, this is not true, because the first gen x5 was 4x4 that's true, but in this video we see x5 e53 facelift (2003-2006) and on this model there is Xdrive system, so xdrive system is started from x5 1st generation facelift, not from 2nd generation ! :)
