  • I like this more than steam deck and Nintendo switch. Ayeneo Air is the smallest gaming pc handheld I've used.

      @Dave2D Hi there's actually one right now the AYN Odin, (android) it uses the SD 845(overclocked), and the AYN Odin Lite which uses the dimensity 900 soc, they have been shipping since january, and these systems are great for game streaming and emulation up to PS2, looks about the same and as big as the ayaneo air but the battery life is miles apart.

    • @MySUHIT
      @MySUHIT ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@benjoji they should update the soc to the letest 8+ G1 or G2 for that matter. The difference in performance is huuuge.

    • @benjoji
      @benjoji ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@MySUHIT they actual addressed this and the cost for using the latest soc would easily double the price so they settled on a sweet spot of an overclockable SD845 (which can run at the same performance as an SD855) and hits a sweet spot of being able to play the latest android games and emulating PS2 also game streaming absolutely makes it worth it for a portable gaming experience if your inside the house. It cost 200-350 dollars

Cheddar explains that white makes stuff look futuristic. :) Also, the backlit controller looks beautiful. I bet Sony's feeling extra silly with how they threw Vita under the bus. Also "gaming smartphones" have zero games that I'd actually waste time playing. And while I like the Steam Deck, I've found something even better for myself - a Ryzen 7 6800H laptop to replace my old one, the Redmibook Pro 15. It's everything I needed and it's so fast, but due to it having the incredibly power efficient iGPU (the iGPU model costs $210 less than with the RTX 2050 and $140 less than with the RTX 2050 but downgraded to Ryzen 5 6600H), I can play any game I want at 12-15W and play like that for 2.5-3 hours, and the screen of the laptop is 3200x2000 (16:10) at 90Hz, and it supposedly supports FreeSync, so I should try lowering the FPS to 48-50 to see if it plays well without tearing and with a smaller TDP. Oh, and because it's the RDNA 2 iGPU, RSR and AV1 decoding are supported. The keyboard is amazing, it's on par with the 2021 Macbook Pro.
      I got the laptop for $1044 including shipping from China, which is very good considering the specs. You get a specced-out Steam Deck with way better performance for its price. I've had the laptop for 1.5 months and I can safely recommend it. There are only two problems which I don't like - the keyboard does not work in Linux (you have to use a USB keyboard, or just use WSL), and you can't limit the battery charging to 80% or 60%. Other than that, this laptop is the best for its price, hands down.

    Being a Steam Deck owner I am super happy about my purchase. however, I do wish the device was a bit smaller, and it could always be lighter as well. with this being said, I do like the tank-like nature of it, with most components easily accessible and repairable. Because of this I can see myself having the Steam Deck for a VERY long time. I do get jealous when I see something as small and sweet as the Aya Neo Air, but at the same time I know I would strain my eyes trying to read PC UIs on the 5.5" screen. On the Steam Deck it's okay in most games. but with smaller screens it actually becomes a REAL problem unless devs are starting to take these devices into account.
    My take on the Aya Neo Air is that it is
    + nice size / design / weight
    + nice oled screen
    + hal sensors (which can admitedly be upgraded on the Steam Deck)
    - Very small screen for PC games.
    - Far less efficient than the Steam Deck APU in the 3-11W range (you don't get as much performance at that power output)
    - Has a MUCH smaller battery, which kind of limits what kind of games you can play without being connected to the wall.
    Aya did make an attractive device at an attractive price. So massive credit to them! :) And for people playing indie games rather than AAA games, I think it's an awesome device.

      It's clear that Valve went big with the Steam Deck because it's a relatively new category of device, and that was the best way to ensure compatability with as wide a range of games as possible. As time goes on, smaller devices may become more viable, with developers starting to take into device smaller screen / lower power devices. Which historically has not been a focus in the PC space with users being assumed to be able to brute force their way through many problems.

      Battery tech is completely stagnant, higher capacity just means larger. The reason the battery seems so poor compared to something like a switch is because of people running games at full res high settings max fps. Plus the extra controller features that don't have their own battery.
      This is from someone that loves the switch aswell! Switch is great because everything hits a certain target and has decent battery life but the deck requires some tweaking.

    Should be mentioned the Pro model of this device packs a bigger battery and ends up being a bit thicker as a result, which might help with thermals. Shame they didn't send you one. The only thing that is holding me back from buying one of these things is Aya's penchant for dropping a new device seemingly every 5 mins. If there was a guarantee they would offer some sort of upgrade to the 6000 series (ie. new mobo) then I would be all over this thing. So I am just waiting for the inevitable 6600u model which I am sure they are already working on.

      Technically they do with the iPad. Can hook up an Xbox/PS controller via bluetooth.

      That’s the thing, they could do this right now by just encouraging actual games on their phones / iPads. Instead we’re fed these garbage gambling simulators… 😔.

      Apple will have it wall gardened and you can only use what's on their single App store.

    This is a cool device for those who want a compact portable PC. Can't live without those track pads anymore though. Use the right track pad more than the right analog stick now
