IMO you're underselling the killer feature of Onion OS, which is that every time you power down the system with a quick power button hold, it also automatically save states where you are. Then when you boot the machine back up, it auto-loads the last game you played and also loads that save state. So you can get into and out of a game WAY quicker than basically any other handheld emulator. This makes it really perfect in the pocket factor, because you can so quickly pull it out and be gaming, and just as quickly put it away. Perfect for waiting for the train, a short car ride, killing 5 or 10 minutes here and there. I use it almost exclusively as my pokemon GBA romhack player. It's the perfect size to play RPGs 1-handed

Love my Miyoo mini, the community custom triggers are a good upgrade and I love the setting in onion os to automatically boot in to the last game played. When you tap the power button is automatically creates a temporary save state. Then you power it on and your back in game at the same spot within 7-10 seconds. The pocketability and quick load time makes it worth carrying around to me. I don’t have to wait minutes for my retroid pocket 2 to power on, get to android, load a emulator and then select my save state.

In the background: cymbal and huge timpani mallets. Other note; i worked at a coffee shop last year for a friend and so of course I had to watch your steps. 😅😅. These retro game handhelds are tempting for me not for nostalgia sake, because I never had one growing up, but mainly to see what I missed out on playing!

I never thought I would be a 'multiple emulator handheld' person - but I use the Miyoo Mini for pick up and play, and if I'm taking a trip where I'm not going to be spending a lot of time playing video games
The GPD XP Plus is for emulating 'everything' (as of right now, on Android), so I can switch between the bigger systems if I have the time, but also play any older games with a few swipes/presses

Ngl alot of these alternatives are real nice, I just bought a 2DS XL and hope to mod it to play portable games. The Odin got my attention but I can't see myself playing a "2 screens in 1" device but seeing there's "Switch-Like" stuff out there able to play a various amounts of games I might be more interested in those

Ever sense my job switched over to iphones I've been digging into these little portable emulators. I currently use the RG3000 which at the time of purchase was $35 on Amazon. So far I've been happy with battery life and I primarily use it for gb, gbc, and gba emulation. It does have snes, nes, and a few 64 and PS1 games that run okay.

the funny thing about emulation devices in my second hand experience, is that people spend more time researching about them and then building and collecting them, but they don't really use them lol
have a friend who has a shelf full of these consoles and he pretty much never plays them

Really wanting to pick up some handhelds, and after watching some of your videos, I think I’m going to pick up one of these and a steam deck.
Steam deck for new games and heavier emulation, and the Miyoo for portability and GBA stuff.

I got the same one and I love it I had to wait 2 months b4 canceling my first order and another 1.5 months to actually get it from another vender at a total of 65 dollars after tax and shipping. Almost immediately after I see the new model is selling for like 45 bucks after tax and shipping lol. I like the old model with a non corded battery though, it seems more modern.

Love the Mini. Got it earlier this year. I kept the default OS on it and it's been pretty good. Also crazy that it came with a ton of ROMs on it already. I like the GB form factor while still being able to play PS1 and GBA games. I wanted an Ayn Odin but this thing was cheaper and I have my Steam Deck if I want to do more serious emulation.

base OS is fine by the standards of these devices but OnionOS is a straight upgrade tbh u are missing out. more systems supported and better/more up to date cores for everything. MiniUI is really good too i strongly recommend u upgrade.

The coolest thing in my opinion is EasyRPG and being able to play an indie game called OFF, or Cave Story on a little device in my pocket. Those are things I grew up playing sitting at a computer, but I guess you could say this about any handheld

I gave a crystal blue miyoo mini v2 to my brother law when I visited my wife in Vietnam just recently. He's always working so a full console didnt make sense, the miyoo fit into his pocket and he can play on for hours wherever he is.

Love the miyoo mini so much. I don't have one because when it released I bought the anbernic rg280v instead. The 280v had 2 dead pixels out of the box and it's been sitting in my drawer ever since. I really wish I picked the miyoo mini instead and maybe one of these days I'll pick one up. That being said they are working on a miyoo mini in a horizontal form factor and I might gravitate towards that one.

Razer Kishi is sometimes on sell at Amazon, get one and put it on your old Samsung or whatever that you had in drawer somewhere…
Boom…bigger screen to play…not too mention more powerful processor too…if you weren’t too cheap out on your old phones.
