I get what your saying, but the police can’t really do anything without a certain amount of evidence or proof. Not to mention the police can’t give out restraining orders, that’s dependent on the court. The cops can only do so much. They can try to find him and tell him to stop but that’s as far as they can go. They can also arrest him but they would have to find him. It’s kinda insensitive to call them ignorant.

@@lillianhanze9708 They cannot issue a restraining order, but they are responsible for enforcing them. They are responsible for contacting and/or arresting anyone violating that order. They are NOT to dismiss it. It isn’t their job to determine what is and is not a violation - that is up to the courts and clearly laid out in the order itself. The police are clearly in the wrong in this situation and this happens VERY often. I’ve been in her position before and you feel helpless when the police won’t enforce the order. Bad things happen when they don’t. It isn’t ignorant to call out incompetency and how the police are often in some way complicate in these situations escalating.

if the police disregard him violating the restraining order again, go straight to the prosecutors office. you can either talk to a prosecutor directly or ask to speak with a victim’s advocate.

I have a restraining order on someone who stalked me for years and every time she violated the restraining order I would contact the police with the proof and they would tell me unless I am dead or injured they cannot do anything for me and to them this is not stalking! The restraining order made the situation ten times worse even though she spent almost a year in jail for it because when she came out it's got worse. I told the police you talk about bullying you even have cop cars on the road that say stop bullying yet when someone is in a situation such as yourself or when myself they literally don't do anything!
Thats the sad part. Police officers told me that it’s just a piece a paper and that it doesn’t really keep the other person away.

Thanks Brooke! Thank you for speaking up about your experience. I am in a similar situation right now. I've had a stalker for about 2 and a half years and it sounds similar to your story. It also started in my sophomore year and he's a complete mental case. I should file for a restraining order, but I'm too scared. I feel like he's a ticking bomb and if I do something aggravating, he will explode and harm the people I love. Him and I was never involved, but he just took an interest in me because we sat beside each other in the classroom. He also introduced himself to my brother randomly on a bus. He has shown up at my workplace several times. He has sent me creepy gifts and he has confessed his love for me to my mother over the phone. He's telling everyone I know that I'm a whore and that all women should die. Keep in mind that I've never been in a relationship and I'm still a fucking virgin. He has been manipulating me soo much by telling me he's going to off himself etc. I don't know what to do. I even moved to Germany to escape him and I haven't seen him in 1 and a half years, but he just won't stop! I don't know what to do.
Please stay safe and get a restraining order if possible because now it’s about you and your loved one’s safety.

I’m constantly watching true crime videos and documentaries and all of the red flags he pulled are similar to what a lot of exes or people who were already in relationships do when they plan and end up taking the other persons’ life. When they didn’t, I went to higher authorities 🤷🏾♀️ No one deserves to be anxious and fearful because of crazy, obsessed people ‼️❤️

Get a fire arm or any self defense weapon,learn basic self defense, keep in contact with ppl you trust preferably law enforcers or gun owners , and have a plan in case things go south , law enforcement wont allways be there , and never be by ur self .

I have never experienced stalking but every time I go out with my family, or my friends or even by myself I always get this weird feeling that there's somebody following me home or to places which is why I try to not leave the house unless it's absolutely necessary...
Nobody, no woman or man, should go through this like ever - like the feeling of somebody following you may be scary but acc having somebody come at you in person and through social media is even scarier.

Your story is super crazy... part of me is glad you’re sharing this experience to help others, but wouldn’t wish you were still struggling with this. I was so close to file a restraining order towards my ex (in my home country), but suddenly I moved to the U.S. and when he applied to get a U.S. visa his application was denied and for me was end of the story. The sad thing is that he is now dating again and I’m conflicted if I should warn this girl about him. Please keep updating your situation to know that you’re staying safe🤍
