People need to remember that advancements in tech at the speed we're going means that a $30 set like this will give you sound quality that's at least as good as any top-quality head unit from 25 years ago and that's NOT a bad thing! Perfect car audio sound quality was achieved in the 90s: Head Units - Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, Clarion, JVC, Sony, Infinity Component Speakers - JBL, Polk Audio, Kenwood, Pioneer, Infinity, Sony Amps - Rockford-Fosgate, Orion, Blade, Phoenix Gold Subs - Cerwin-Vega, Kicker, MTX, Orion, Pyle, Crunch, Bazooka Considering the advances in digital technology between then and now, even the cheapest and "crappiest" head units are easily capable of putting out sound quality that is as good or better than a top-end head unit from the 90s. Remember that the 90s era was the absolute apex of the aftermarket car audio industry. Anyone who was alive at the time could tell you that a 90s head unit by any of the brands that I listed produced absolutely flawless sound quality. Audio isn't rocket science anymore, in fact, it's not even considered to be high-tech. Consider that you can have superb 8.1 digital surround mounted on your motherboard in a little chipset. That same little chipset is probably in that head unit which is why it's so small. It doesn't need to be bigger because it doesn't spin optical discs. That's why I knew that the sound from that head unit would sound great even befiore I watched the video.
Nice test and result. Dampening the doors will also have a massive effect on sound quality, especially for the bass. And very nice to see that Hoovies garage T-shirt! Keep up the good work Luke!

As for mounting the speakers: instead of cutting up your original ones alternatively you can get MDF adapters, they're pretty cheap and work great - I used them on my own Astra G back in the day.

At walmart they actually sell plugs that u plug the new bead unit in to and plug rigbt in to the existing harnis..i actually have that head unit and i love it i am ru ning amps and subwoofers and all that but its a fairly good unit
It depends on the 'value' of the declared goods as that is something that you specify on Shipito's website and not something that is autofilled in, if you catch my drift ;) However, what's you won't get hit on is the postage cost compared to importing individually which is normally quite significant in itself.
I bought the head unit for 16 bucks at walmart. BEST 16 BUCKS IVE SPENT IN MY LIFE!!!! Awesome head unit, it's a $50 value I think, if it had another name on it like pioneer then they could get away with charging $80 for it easily. Love it!!!!!
I knew parcel shippers existed but I had never heard of Shipito until now. Thank you for the heads up. I would expect quality units like Sony and Alpine to autoconnect 100% of the time. So for $30 I would be satisfied with 50% especially as I still have the factory head unit in my XC70 and I use the FM transmitter type of Bluetooth connection which has to be switched on and connected to the radio manually every time.😉
Just goes to show, how much electronics really cost. Those $4000.00 TV's cost less than 200 to make in parts, what you are paying for is Labor, manufacturing and sales. On another note does Shipito, work in reverse, can I order something from the UK to the States without custom and freight charges? if not then that's Bull shyst. For a second I thought you were going to tackle the head ache that is the Volvo sound system would love to see a how to install of an android /smart double din stereo in the Volvo the HU unit is ok but obviously getting old now and apparently it's not a strait forward job to do there is a few hurdles to overcome so if your HU pops it's clogs (sorry I mean I'm hoping your HU pops it's clogs 🤣) I'm tuned in lol 👍

Lol, it actually sounds good on my computer speakers, which is a 300w home sound bar. I could of predicted that it would sound way better than stock speakers, unless it was some kind of car that specified it had a nice audio system. For example any cars from the USA, that was made in the 80s and 90s had complete garbage for sound and even a 50w head unit with 2 cheap 6x9s would be a big upgrade lol.
On the point of Bluetooth connection, most OEM head units appear to have the same problem. My family has a few different Clios which all suffer from the same issue with the stock medianav head unit.
The speakers didn’t look too bad. But I wonder how long the head unit will last, or if it will even cause problems with car batteries. Have heard that can happen.

I’ve had other mechless units in the past. They’ve normally been about half the size of a CD unit. Although, this is going back about 5 years.
i currently have a sony unit with no cd player yet it its the same size as a cd unit
I did the exact same when i changed all 4 of the speakers in my mk4 astra
these cheap units benefit from proper thermal compound application for longevity, lcd burnout seems common too.
