Massive Front Yard CLEAN UP of abandoned 1908 farm / Satisfying TIMELAPSE PART 2

  • This time we spent almost 2 months to clean up the second part of the front yard. It was not easy at all, the whole yard was covered with mud, roots, branches, leaves… Nature definitely took advantage of the farm left abandoned for 10 years. But we managed it and very happy with the result. It is not yet finished-finished, but I can’t stop smiling when I see what we achieved so far. Episode #13. Enjoy! Be our guest, enjoy this video and don't forget to subscribe! :-)

Whomever cobbled that driveway was a master. The bricks are still almost perfectly level even after over 100 years.

As a professional paver this really warms my heart. I much too often get jobs like these where people just give up and orders it all to get digged away and replaced with concrete tiles :'( as much as I love the look of a new driveway made by our company - as much would I love to see the old guys' job get some well deserved love :)
what and amazing job this is! GOOD WORK!! Hats off from me and the guys that are watching the video after work in the office ;)

All the dirt on top of the cobblestones was in fact very rich compost! I don't know where you dumped it all, but I would have added as much as possible to the garden as I could. Very good and lots of hard work! Looks great.

This dirt resides in our garden now 😁 so we saved it. We covered it with plastic and next year will use it in a garden, as you suggested. Thanks, Andrew!

@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm Be careful in covering the compost. Covering soil with plastic will heat everything and kill weeds but it will also kill the beneficial bacteria in the compost. I think you'd be much better off putting it on the future garden beds and let the thousands of little critters make the soil richer. A spoonful of soil will contain millions of tiny living things.

I would string cable through the existing post that’s a lovely fence paint it green. Or put grapes there or roses. In between the posts.

Such a fence would definitely look very nice, Phillip 🙌🏼
We already opted to plant a hedge out of beech trees, so we don’t really need these posts anymore. The farmers had this kind of fence (as we have seen on the photo before the Second World War), and we want to go back to the origins 😁 and beech hedges look gorgeous throughout the year.

Great work. Don't be so hard on yourself if you still think you are all going slow on this project. It is hard work!

It looks amazing already! Imagine a patio table and chairs and a glass of wine to enjoy the view and the tranquility. The idea of a green fence is ideal and may have been the original one. The concrete one looks like something from the 1930's. Great job!

Isn't it amazing that all of the cobble stone was buried for all of those years. We're you surprised to find this?

Beautiful cobblestone yard, a classic also here in Denmark, on old farms.
Good luck to your family, in the future.
