This is definitely ONE of my favorite Stones songs! Not a real Stones fan......as my heart belonged to the Beatles! However.....I loved this song the first time I heard it!!! I was surprised that Mick Jagger could sing a ballad!
Quelle belle époque pour tout ce qui l ont connu ,moi aussi j ai adoré cette chanson , mon regret ne pas être allée les voir en concert quand on était tous jeunes .
One of my favorites to play on drums back in our "High School cover band days!" Along with "Time is On My Side," and "Mother's Little Helper," ... many more. What great fun we had 'back in the day.' Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
The Stones have always been incredible, so consistent as artists over the years. Someone like me who is standing in a puddle as a recording artist can step back onto dry land and admire their majesty. Heck, they are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you, Gentlemen.
Yes they were here in Regina a few years ago for 1 show. That show sold out in 59 seconds & they announced another show the next night.Sold out in 5m.I was a TV cameraman & got to see both shows. They were great.Paul McCartney was also great in concert that year too.✌️🇨🇦
@@KellysClassics I agree. I also saw Paul (twice). They are all inspirations to me. I didn't start writing/recording until I was 60. Thanks for your response and rock on!
The song evokes pure heartache so well as to be a piece of art. Having a broad emotional range, from exuberance to comedy to sadness to tranquility to storming the barricades, is a sign of the best artists. The Stones had that ability,
Saw them here in Regina in concert 13 years ago.Concert was sold out in minutes & they decided to do another show the next night. Both were fantastic.😊👍🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing this and such amazing picture quality too. Beautiful harmony they do on this tune, I’ve always loved this song. Seeing how young and“innocent” the boys were, hard to imagine lol. I like the part where the kids are dancing, wearing suits and groomed so properly. Then few years later everything was changing with the hippy movement, drugs, etc…These guys have moved through so many different eras and fads that came and went and they always kept putting out good music, remarkable.
Thanks...since this performance was lip synced on location...(wise move, too costly for live w all the wiring & technical at that time)...I took the album version w the music bridge & found some suitable dancing to that rhythm and from that time.🇨🇦
I was playing in an outfit that did all original and we decided we needed at least one good cover tune. So I worked up an arrangement of "Tell Me" I got to rehearsal with a big dumb smile on my face...at least until they told me the Clash had beaten us to the punch.
@@jimdep6542 We weren't a juke box band. Even the rare cover had to be dressed up and properly arranged. You'll note The Clash version doesn't sound like the stones...
@@talbotsplace7316 Right, but since it's a cover song in your sets of mostly originals, why would it make a difference if someone else released their own version of it.
I was just a very young kid, age 9, when I heard this song with my grandmama Nonna in The Red Skelton Hour that she & I loved watching together. Loved them ever since. ❤❤❤ But The Beatles were the huge song writers then in Rock N'Roll.
This is one of the earliest Jagger-Richards compositions. Yes, John Lennon gave them the song I Wanna Be Your Man but Mick and Keith showed they could do it on their own terms.

Most groups hated lip syncing back then.American Bandstand had all their performers lip sync,as did Hollywood a Go Go.Shindig was more live songs rather than lip sync.Sullivan was 50/50.Sometimes their mics would be live & singing w their taped music accompanying them, like Gary Puckett & the Union Gap's Lady Willpower where he had to change a word in the song.Hence a live mic w taped music.🇨🇦

I agree. This Canadian has found that some British bands sounded better performing live.Studio capabilities were probably not that great in the early 60s...the Tremoles Silence Is Golden is a good example.Theres a couple excellant live performances on Yt compared to the original.
Haha...don't need any when you are lip syncing.Did you ever see anyone miked up on Bandstand or many other shows? Given the vast age group that watched Red Skelton, the joke would have gone over, since hair like that long was regarded as weird to the older audience.
Great song. Pity it is a lip synch.... what I liked about Ed Sullivan is the bands were live. But ya gotta take what you can get. I used to stay up til 2 am to hear this on radio (only one DJ would play it.... Stones weren't all that popular til Satisfaction)
Ummm I have 3 hours of pop/rock performances fr Sullivan. Many were lip synced like Tommy James' appearance for both songs,Mony Mony & Crimson & Clover in 1969.There are lots more.Every program had lip syncers some time or another.🇨🇦
@@KellysClassics Okay, groups with talent played live. Long Crimson & Clover is the worst solo bar none. I've thought that since I first heard it. Suicide material
One of the best RS song!!!
IIRC the first Jagger/Richards. The tune and vocals are a 50s meet the 60s. It is still in my playlist, they nailed a perfect song here.
