I lived in Macclesfield for years until I moved a short distance away. Used to love walking up to Teggs Nose and to White Nancy (using the Middlewood Way).
@@GLovesTrainswas surprised today seeing two class 220s coupled together going towards Manchester and two class 221s coupled together going towards Stoke-on-Trent!! Will put them on my own TH-cam channel.
175 109 is parked outside Chester station on the network rail operated bridge where you will see it and it’s coupled to another 175 and there is a park by it as well
Hi G, Once again a great video log, I used to stay at Wolverhampton sometimes when I was on my trade plating journeys. I used to enjoy journeying around all that area in the West Midlands. Take care, Jon B.
I love circular journeys too, due to a football commitment yesterday I was able to do Attenborough-Leicester-Nuneaton-Atherstone-Tamworth-Derby-Attenborough
Brilliant G. It was a bit crap that you had to stand in the toilet but at least you got to try the Class 196 DMU, Love the Circular Journey. Great video.
Thanks for this lovely Friday video! Took me by surprise and I was checking my date to make sure it's Friday not Choo Choo Tuesday. :DDDD (With the 93 likes on this video, I can see people are definitely happy with this post as I am as well!) The planes fly low to the sky because the Airport is not that far away, I've been to Manchester Airport to do some planespotting sometimes and I would get off at Manch Picc and get a little sainsburys meal for the ride to Altrincham for the Route 88 bus to Airport Inn hotel. On the way back I get off at Stockport and see the planes for my EMR back to LIV
I thought my comments on your last video (and all others before), well, I thought my comments were a bit personal. But, but, but, they've had the desired effect. Your videos are infectious - in the nicest possible way. Thanks!
That was a brilliant video G. I know that area well. I did my engineering training at DCAE RAF Cosford in the mid 90s, maybe even before you were born! Used to go for nights out in Telford and Shrewsbury. One of my mates jumped off a motorway footbridge - for a laugh - as you do, in Telford. We found him stuck in a big bush held in by thorns, he hadn't even hit the ground. Great days. I was wondering what music you listen to on your headphones. It's ludicrous they don't double up those units on busy routes. Thanks G, great video!
Another tip top video. The vision came through pixilated at times , watching from Australia, could be many reasons - still enjoying your videos . Bit of a change from previous video I have enjoyed. I don't live anywhere near a big town, let alone near a railway. So seeing railways and what is available on your travels is great . Railways move people, so good your station reviews.
Sounds like you have had some good experience but also some bad experience doing that journey. I personally wouldn’t be standing by the toilet if I was on a train that is so packed. But yet again it’s the summer holidays and trains are always packed with people and kids. As always I do enjoy your content G. 😊
Great vlog G and a great circular journey from Macclesfield to Macclesfield via Shrewsbury. I went to Shrewsbury on Wednesday funny enough to tick of the rest of the Shrewsbury line stations including Oakengates and them 196s are great and quiet definitely better than the TFW busy services.
Very nice G, though I see you suffered from TfW’s chronic undercapacity - would you believe they put a 2-car 158 on Crewe to Holyhead on a Bank Holiday Sunday yesterday, when the Rhyl Air Show was on?? I’ll let you imagine what that was like!!
i enjoyed watching this circular route i visited Macclesfield last year when i did a Cheshire Day ranger & im loving the WMR 196 which i wouldnt mind riding one day Shrewsbury looks amazing and i had a pit stop at Stockport last year and filmed trains there for an hour which is a great station as you get loads of veriety from different TOCs anyway brilliant vlog
Brilliant video G and on a Friday as well, wasn't expecting it lol. Good old British weather, one minute it's sunny and then the next it's raining lol. I'm so sorry to hear you got stuck in the toilets on an overcrowded 158 lol. The Class 196's are quite nice, I've been on them a few times. Also Shrewsbury is suppose to have the UK's largest signal box, will have to explore more of that place as I've only been to the station briefly so far.
Great vlog, G! Nice to get an unexpected new class of train to try out. For some reason, the piano part of the music was giving me North West Day 5 vibes even though the tracks are totally different!
One of my Nieces got marred a Shrewsbury July unfortunately I have to drive, not train travel for me on this adventure. Did get a chance or a waterside walk absolutely lovely :)
Hi G, what a great way to spend the day, the river waterfall was unexpected but soothing as for the '10 minute' thingy, vey spooky!!! More like this (if possible). Looking forward to the next one, stay safe.
Yayyy ! A Freightday special 👍 I really enjoyed this. The class 196s are very nice trains, and probably the best of the CAF Civity units Glad you got a ride on a 175 (even if it wasn't 109), as there are rumours that they could finish on TFW by the end of October if there are enough 197s in service by then
Great circular route - thanks for taking us G! Now we are having to suffer ads half way through, make sure they pay you enough to get a good microphone (Rode?) to clip on your jumper - quite understand why you have to whisper on some trips, but it's been getting harder to hear you for sometime now. 😢
Next time your in Shrewsbury take the boat trip it's less than a tenner and it takes you through the city, past the park great for sight seeing I highly recommend it and they have a Harry Potter shop which is packed full of merchandise clothes etc.
Ahhh. You came to my town. Next time you come to Shrewsbury, you need to head to the Quarry. And mabee have a glimpse at the old Abbey Forgate station.
So if you go on train ticket booking sites you can type in 'from A to B' and then select 'via... C'. Tickets will be shown if it is valid via C, tickets will not show if it is invalid 👍
G: a circular suggestion for your next trip to Cardiff. Cardiff, (or Newport) Hereford to Birmingham (via Worcester) then back via Cheltenham/Gloucester.
Nice surprise video Is that first crosscountry train you went on the one what would of come from Coventry 😊 Ive actually been to Wolverhampton and worked around the station for a day, I was on the gates and assisting abit with ticketing As much as I do love the new 196s they do have their faults, not sure if the ones what have carriages are as bad 196 1... but the ones without them 196 0.. from my experience have very loud breaks
@@GLovesTrains that's fair, I just know that there's a crosscountry service to Manchester piccadilly through Coventry. Ey well at least you still got to go to Shrewsbury it is a lovely place!
5:34 Well that will come as no surprise because the 196 is from the same family as the 195 and 197, the CAF Civity family
Awesome video as always G
Thanks a lot!
I think that waterfall might have been a weir, but I do love Shrewsbury 🙂
Looks like you had fun G. If I'd known you were coming to Telford Central (my local station) I would of come down and and said hello.

Hi kids
Thought you might have went from Shrewsbury to Stockport via Wrexham and Chester, but would probably have taken too long.
Could you go that circular route in the other direction, too? Would you?
Of course and I'd have to run out of ideas by that point 😂
Has anyone actually tried to "lock" the on-train toilet door while it's open?
Can I suggest that you get a microphone, as some of your ptc are not very clear
Hells Bells, its Friday are you trying to mess with my head?
Yes 😂
Macc station is such a shame. Maybe they had a good reason to demolish the old one(?) but the replacement is sh*t.
Waterfall or weir?....🤔
I've learnt a new word 😂
Trains Station 🚉
Have you not seen All The Stations? It’s pronounced Shrousbury. 😂
Shrow is the traditional pronunciation, but Shrew seems to be the most common pronunciation now.
