What a fantastic vlog that was G! Thoroughly enjoyed that. There were some really funny moments in there and that day had finally come when you went on both the Nova 1 and Nova 2 sets. Hello Georgia TH-cam recommended me to your channel last night. I grew up in Garswood would I was last over in May 2018 and took some of the same routes you take in this video. Sadly the Ormskirk to Preston route was not running and I had to take a bus so I missed that one and then the awful strike of May 21, 2018. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. all the best from Vancouver Canada

158753 had the seats into the new moquette as it was one of the first refurbished units from Arriva so it still had the old interior.

I had the misfortune of having to evacuate them on more than one occasion when they kept failing in the Thameslink tunnels (not fun in the pitch black)

That's a heck of a day. I'd probably have done Preston to Blackburn, then done the Blackburn to Kirby train to get back round to the Wigan, but I guess it'd depend on the timetable. It'd probably only have been another sprinter as well.

Another excellente video as always G 😊 I ended up with that filthy bugger 319379 twice last month 😂 took me from Preston to Liverpool LS then back up to Preston later in the evening 😎 the 319s will be all gone soon though!

GLovesTrains The stains were already there when I had it 😂 and they’ll be replaced by the sexy wexy 331s and the 323s (including the ones due to be transferred from WMR in 2021) 😎

Should come and do a Tyne tees day ranger only got Azumas the 91s are finished still got TPE novas and cross country HSTs though oh and Voyagers too.
Yay, Southport made a short cameo haha. Love the look of the Blackpool station and the Kirkby station intrigues me with different trains on basically the same platform. Despite living in Southport all my life, I've only ever been to Blackpool once on a primary school trip haha. Nice video as always. Would love to shadow one of your day rangers just for the experience.

There is a ticket that covers Preston Lancaster Hellifield Settle Carlisle Cumbria Coast a good circle route that can be joined anywhere, looks like Preston would be your joining point

the nose of a 150 is called a gangway and it means that if 2 150s were coupled, you can get through the 2 trains using the gangway. the one without a gangway is a class 150/0/1, and the one with a gangway is a 150/2!

There was Things I Had to Cancel Cause of Times But Managed to Do it 2x in Certain Months

Great video reason why Day Rangers don't work on Ticket Barriers because there is no set station on them and the ticket Barriers work by set stations on tickets

Have to say I wasn’t too impressed by my time at Preston station a couple of years ago, or the whole rail experience ! Sunday mid afternoon got dropped at Penrith after a weekend in Keswick for the train to Liverpool / Wirral with a change at Preston. Train from Glasgow was 15 minutes late, missed connection at Preston. Stuck there for an hour, found a Greggs for a cheese and tomato baguette plus coffee, then wandered round a semi-derelict shopping arcade for 15 mins. Finally trundled into Liverpool Lime St to find that the city centre had been taken over by the Giant Puppets plus thousands of daytrippers so all the Merseyrail stations had been closed… had to get a Chester bus over to the Wirral….
Next time you’re in Liverpool walk from Moorfields to Lime St station…. nice buildings along Dale St, past Birkenhead Tunnel entrance, along Library / Museum / Art Gallery, St George’s Hall and Empire Theatre.

“The passing over the key” is then basically passing over the token to allow your train priority on the track :)
A very low tech system that works quite well on lines that doesn't justify the expense of a complicated signaling system.

Do Day Ranger tickets work the same at the ticket barriers, put them in and they pop straight back out?
They are on paper, so you have to use the scanning bit, but they never scan

Warning. Recently used this Ranger ticket. At Liverpool the barrier would not let me through. The supervisor said Liverpool is not Lancashire! It's Merseyside and the ticket is not valid. Good Luck.
