Thurl speaks mostly in an Ab1 the entire song, and also speaks down to an E1 numerous times . The E1 is clearly heard at 1:30, 2:08 ,2:37, and between 2:57 and 3:30 and towards the end. Thurl sounds like Barry White at times, but ofcourse, lower.

      VERY untrue. Most cities have some sort of professional choir with Baritones and Basses getting paid to sing without needing to hit "dem high notes." Plenty of FAMOUS Baritones and Basses too. But you probably mean the kinds of singers you might hear on the radio. Well once again, you're completely wrong. Johnny Cash is just one example right here. He made his career rarely singing above a C4, as you just saw. It's not about who can scream an Ab5 the best. If you really want to pursue a career in singing, you can by developing your technique. Otherwise, you're just making excuses.

    Yeah, no. I love Johnny Cash very much however, these notes just werent in his range unfortunately. Youre basically saying he sang as low as a Russian Bass and as high as a Tenor 2. While that is completely possible to do I dont see how you got these notes at a piano. Maybe you did this from an app? My F1 shows up as a C1 on most apps and I know that note just isnt there.

    • @conrar1320
      @conrar1320  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@joshadkins5765 Well, I have some time so I guess I'll explain myself:
      I'm not saying Johnny Cash was a bass, nor a tenor. In my personal opinion, Johnny Cash was a baritone who had a better lower range than most baritones. Range does not necessarily indicate any particular voice type. For example, Paul McCartney has a very solid A1 but he's certainly not a bass. I've also read he has C6s, but he's not a soprano either. He's a tenor.
      I'm also not trying to claim that Johnny Cash could have hit the extremities in this video consistently throughout his career. For example, I doubt 1950s Cash could've sang an A1. I doubt Cash in 2003 could've sung a G5. However, I still feel these notes are representative of his overall vocal range throughout his career. From what I know, It's entirely natural for a singer's range to change over the course of their adult life.
      To pitch Johnny Cash's notes, I use a reliable virtual piano. I don't quite know why you are mentioning F1 and C1 because neither notes are mentioned in this video.
      I hope this clears it up.
