I NEVER tire of watching you ladies antiquing, please keep more of that footage from being edited out. Love your pretty ornaments and the Bing Crosby/Danny Kay snippet 🤣.
The actual reference is not “wild hair” but “wild hare”, as in rabbit. A wild hare dashes about quickly, darting one way and then the other. So a wild hare idea is one that pops out of no where. Wild hare actions are doing one thing then rapidly darting off to do something else. 😊
Or call it what it is "A.D.D." 😂 Let me transplant this pot bound plant, oh wait (plant out of pot patiently waiting for new home) but I really need to clean the pot, oh and a saucer, (pause while looking for a saucer) this one will work but doesn't really match, wait a sec while I get some paint/stain/paper towels...we can make it match (10-15 min project) yep, that looks good😊 okay...where were we? Oh yes, was going to root cellar to gather some home grown veggies for dinner, (in house cleaning veggies) hmmmm, I feel like I'm forgetting something? (Root bound plant still waiting for new home😮) 😅😅😅
I store my ornaments the same way, but the Ornaments are wrapped in tissue in cardboard/Shoe boxes, then the boxes are stacked in Rubbermaid bins. A few really special ones are in the original packaging.
I'm not a fan of those who comment, backhandedly, about the team you have that makes what you do a crowning success. Kudos to you both for taking the opportunity to laud Paul and Bethany for their hard work, all the time. As for comments about your budget: you've highlighted the importance of paying your team members for their efforts and dedication, and why it's a priority. Thanks to all who have chosen to invest in the joy you bring to others. Happy holidays Garden Answer!
I wonder if Paul and Bethany would be willing to answer a couple questions. I would love to know their favorite areas of the garden, their favorite transformation, favorite tree, favorite plant.
This is the first I'm hearing of the Russell/Cheddar merch, and I have to say I am SO EXCITED! If you had other garden designs with gorgeous flowers, I would love to support. Thanks for all you do
For everyone out there that wants to purchase any merchandise that Laura and Aaron have, buy it from them. We ordered, I believe on a Friday and had it so quick we couldn't believe it. My husband ordered me Laura's favorite prunners for Christmas and their shipping charge was better than some others. We were happy to give them our business. I wish they had the pop up bag. Merry Christmas to all that watch Laura, Aaron and the kids.
Benjamin could be a fruit tree or a strawberry and yes Samantha Grace for a Rose. Laura a Supertunia (very bright and colourful ) and Aaron an Oak tree (big and strong) And your Mum a Rose called So Pretty as she uses it a lot as a description when Antiquing.
With coffee in hand, I watch every minute of your videos, especially the Sunday morning Q & A laughs… y’all are hilarious together! I also find myself chuckling every time I hear “the dirt lands”… I know why you call it that, it’s precious how a child’s mind works ❤️ Merry Christmas to you and your families 🎄
25:58 We look forward to the long and often videos. That’s why we all keep coming back. I’d rather watch a half hour video than and a 12 minute video. I don’t know about anybody else, but that’s what I keep coming back for. I also just purchased the new 3inch Laura auger. I am so excited for the spring. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
About the Texas heat and Petunias, I've successfully grown them (zone 8b). The key is you have to water A LOT! On our long stretch of triple digit days, you have to water at least 2 times per day for it not to look stressed. Sometimes, I'll even throw in a 3rd watering. And because of all the excess watering, you have to remember to fertilize. Hope that helps.
Same here in Georgia. Twice a day helps everything. I fertilize once a week with a water solvable fertilizer like miracle grow. Then a slow release every two months . But the super bells do great. Especially the dark purple ones. They can really take the heat. Do very well in containers, but would like to add some in my landscape. They want water, but we'll drained,in a container that drains well, you can skip a day, and they are fine. But I give them a sprinkle since I'm watering everything anyway.
I always enjoy the shopping videos with your mom and sister. My mom passed in 2018, when I was 38, so I don’t have those experiences with her and my sister anymore. I loved when it was just us girls. The last time I ever saw my mom alive was on Christmas Day 2017, which makes me cherish Christmas memories even more.
Laura, that is exactly how we store our ornaments to. In big totes with either paper towels, recycled bubble wrap or tissue paper. Never have anything to break.
Laura and Aaron, I love that you guys keep it real by telling us how you do things, like storing your Christmas ornaments wrapped in paper towels. I love that, I've stored ornaments that way for years, and I also wrap some of them in Kleenex tissues, because that's what I had on hand when putting them away after Christmas. (Spoiler alert, I use the same tissues and paper towels every year.) More recently, I've used the bubble wrap that comes in things I've ordered (if I can keep myself from popping it first, lol). 🤣😂🤣🤗
I have kept Christmas ornaments with tissue paper, paper towels and rubbermaid (or Sterilite) totes for decades. Works a charm. The broken ornaments from the 1950's/1940's broke not because of storage, but children and cats and husband while on the tree. I LOVE the paddle wire idea for ornaments on the tree, I will keep that in mind for next year when I dare my tree with the current young cat. He's a Hooligan...
Got a chuckle out of your comment where you said some folks say they watch your videos but know no details. I belong to the group of GA viewers where you could give us a test from the move from the townhouse to today. You rock and we know all phase of your almost 10 years of growth…LOL
I’m right there with you. I’ve been watching since the condo days too. When Laura’s trying to remember when they did something I’m telling her the answer which of course I’m just telling no one. Lol. I can’t remember what year I did something but I remember all their details. Why?!!! 😳
Yes PLEASE bring the black spheres into your shop I’d love to buy them.💯💯💯 Great recap always love when you have the time to sit with us and recap. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I can confirm the supertunias do struggle in the dead of summer in TX bc it doesn’t cool down overnight enough and the constant humidity hurts their leaves, at least from my personal experience. I’ve grown them in ground and in pots and my best luck was in pots that get shade from about noon on.
Same in South Florida! Pots are our only option, and I think it has to do with too much water! When it rains daily soil is saturated and petunias don't like that either!
Same in AR I have tried 3 years in a row in the ground and failed each time. Containers are the only way to go for any petunia here. I’m jealous of the Supertunia carpets I see in pictures!
Last weeks videos will be hard to beat! I watched each video more than once and loved the beautiful snow, fun shopping trip, ideas for more beautiful plants in 2024, and the happiness ending with Grandma playing in the sand. So thankful for your videos and all you share with us! ❤️
I’m glad you guys are humble and down to earth. Pretentious people put me off and I do not believe you would have the huge following that you do if you were the type of people who focus more on showing off than on loving your family, church and community. Don’t ever change. ❤
25:46 I'm not technically a neighbor, i can see your property from my moms house. But i live just a few miles away. Garden answer has been great for me, i built my landscape pretty much from scratch in the past few years. I get to see how plants grow in my environment and soil conditions before i buy them!
FYI, the problem with Texas heat IS that it doesn't cool off at night. Come May (and then again September), night temps rarely dip below 65-70°. By late June, the lows are more around 75-80°. It can be 10pm and still 90-95° and it can be 10 am and already 85-90°. Plants struggle because it just doesn't cool off enough overnight. Even when we do get rain in the summer, once the rainclouds move on the heat comes right back; a late afternoon storm usually doesn't mean the evening is going to much (if any) cooler than usual.
I was surprised when Aaron said he just assumed people does watch the videos. I watch all of them. And never think they are too long. Lol. Usually in AM. They are varied in content and Laura and you have a knack for communicating I like you share some of you life. And are private. No messy Drama! The rapport between the two of you is nice to see. Not withstanding the knowledge is awesome. Learned so much. Thank you!
I'm in zone 9b and I have a big leaf hydrangea in a part shady spot. It gets only morning sun. IT IS DOING GREAT! It blooms continuously and I planted it just this past spring! Go to your local garden center - NOT THE BIG BOX STORES - and ask them what grows in your zone 9.
I’m committed to watching you! I spend time with God every morning then I have tea and it’s straight to The Garden Answer for me. I usually do two views then search older videos to watch before starting my day. God bless you guys. 🙏🏼❤️
Laura is correct, spinosad was first isolated from the soil in the Virgin Islands. Spinosad is approved for organic gardening. Spinosad is a natural substance made by a soil bacterium. It works similar to BT in that it's a stomach poison, it must be eaten by caterpillar (larva,) however spinosad in addition to being a stomach poison is also a nerve poison so it works on a broader spectrum of insects. Spinosad is toxic to bees only when wet, once dried it doesn't hurt bees nor many other beneficials.
I'm a day late... Christmas... A day late and dollar short.😂 I have to say that I LOVE you two's "Ying and Yang" ❣️ Really, you were made for each other. I love the laughs I get watching your videos!
In regard to bird feeders, here in CT I keep feeders from November to April (unsuprisingly bears love birdseed! So wait for hibernation) My advice would be to google your state Audubon society for guidelines.
Naming plants would be such fun! Garden Answer Gaillardia, Benjamin Button Bush, Aaron’s Plant High Pines, Laura’s Lavender Lace Cap Hydrangea, Samantha’s Full of Grace Geraniums Merry Christmas to You and Yours! Kathleen
I absolutely love the simplicity of both the wreath and garland just those few pinecones is all that is needed ..Are u ever afraid with candles and the fresh greens, I get so nervous but that me...
There's an interesting discussion between Jim Putnam (HortTube channel) and Tony Avent both from Raleigh,NC on a video called "Plant hardiness is much more than average low temperatures". Mr. Avent actually participated in past calculations of the zones and gives examples of how one extreme year can skew the average used for garden zones.
My neighbor has an automatic gate. He has a code box where each different company has their own code to enter. That way he can look on his phone to see who came onto the property at what time. But also know I watched a homestead channel where a neighbor pushed the automatic gate enough for him to walk on the property. Just dont have a false sense of security that might not be there. I got the impression the home remote gates were more a convenience than a security item. Unless of course you have a commercial gate system installed. Just something to look into when shopping for a gate system.
We need a shopping trip blooper reel full of coordinated “ohhhhhs” and “mmmmms”! I never thought I’d get into the shopping day videos, but I love them and I can’t explain why. It felt so out of place seeing you and your family in a modern department store, so novel! ♥️
Oooo! Thanks for the update on your shop! I just ordered a Russell & Cheddar sweatshirt! Such a unique purchase... You might have to redesign to include Douglas, now!
Hey Laura and Aaron happy to hear about the new land acquisition, not sure if I you already planted one, but…. my favorite tree repeatedly seen in the grand gardens of England is the cedar of Lebanon. It’s striking majestic, and one that should be considered for your place. Thank you for all that you do for us.
For cheap ornament storage, I used to work at a bar and I would take home the cardboard bottle dividers that came in the big boxes of beer bottles. I imagine wine bottle ones would work well too, particularly for larger ornaments. I use pieces of cardboard in between layers so I can stack multiple
The way I understand the difference between the eastern side board to the western side side board is the eastern side of the US and Canada is that when there is heat and humidity it does not cool down like it does here, On the western side of the US and Canada it may get hot and humid but it does cool down in the evening. I have grown up in Southwestern Ontario and I do remember it being very hot and humid in the evening and night.
Last year here in N. TX the squirrels pulled up a bunch of our St. Augustine grass runners to make a nest with when it got down in the teens. This year I saved my old coco liners to leave out there in hopes they will use those instead of our grass.
The birds DO remember where the seed/ food is. I’m a hobbyist bird watcher. I moved a feeder away from my deck, (because of the bird poop). I put it just in the next tree about 12 feet away. The birds still would come to the previous spot, look around confused, then fly over to the new location. The seasonal birds will do the same thing. They remember where the food is.
I love these summary videos, just because of the interaction between Laura and Aaron. Just a normal couple, but they clearly like each other. And I don't think I've ever seen Laura rocking completely straight hair with a hair bump before!
I would also add having tried various plants, Proven Winners are premium quality and true winners in my book. Down south, I have also enjoyed Southern Living plants for their southern zone(s) curation.
You might be becoming zone 7.... 🤣 We are 7b in East KY and when it snows we are exactly like you said, enough to play in 2-3 times per year but in between you can plant and do chores, it's great. Usually muddy until the winds of March come around. But also got so cold pretty sure half my rose standard died.
When you mentioned how you attach your ornaments to the tree you commented the only way they would fall is if they slide out of the hook attachment. This reminded me of a tour I took years ago at Walt Disney World. It was their Holiday Decoration Tour that took you behind the scenes to include their warehouse where they create & store the vast amount of decorations they display. One of their tips was they hot glue all the tops to each ornament so they stay attached. This might be a useful tip especially for some of your heavier/delicate ornaments. You & Aaron are a hoot together. Thanks for sharing your adorable life (warts & all) & your practical knowledge & skill set.
Love all videos, long ones are great! I don't watch faithful from spring to fall! As I'm in the gardens as well! But come Nov, is my favorite time to catch up!
You don’t know how special your shopping videos are💝 You three gals could make grocery shopping a hoot! What about the video where you made the centrepiece for the Hartley, and the Rosemary arrangement? Did I dream that video?
Two years ago I was able to fully decorate; my granddaughter was 5 and left everything alone on the tree (she lived with us at that time). This year, however, we have a new kitten and he is systematically destroying the tree. I didn't put up any of my good ornaments and only decorated plastic and shatterproof! **crying**
I love all of your helpful information regarding drip systems. You guys helped us tremendously to get started. My husband is a plumber and he helped solve my problems with water getting to the end of the line. You have to create a loop to evenly distribute the water and then branch off from the main loop. So each of my sections has an outer loop and then the lines that have emitter holes branch off from that. The big loop creates an even distribution to each line with emitter holes. I hope that information makes sense and potentially helps you in the future!!
Thank you for answering the question regarding the zone on plant tags. I always understood the lower number, but never understood the higher number. Make so much more sense now.
'I can't reecall a december like this' 'hope you guys are having a glorious December' 'this is unheard of!' 'having a great year, loving it' 'we have snails!?' ______________________________________________ 'we don't believe the new haridness zones' 'global warming is a myth, not sure about it'
Re Proven Winners. I'm in Atlanta and have to look around for Proven Winners here. When I find them, there are usually only a few, not a huge offering. The other one here is Southern Living, which seems to be everywhere. But because of you, I've actually ordered FROM Proven Winners and am much more aware of them when I'm shopping, especially for petunias. Also, I saw your ornament storage and laughed my head off because that's the way I've been storing MY ornaments for decades now!!! I even moved 12 years ago (just a few miles away) and made special trips with my Radko ornaments in tubs. Some years I use paper towels in between, last year I had bubble wrap, sometimes I use used plastic grocery bags (we don't have laws restricting them here, so I always have a ton of them).
So glad I'm not the only one with rubber maid totes and paper towels, so high tech. Most of my vintage ornaments are at least 70 years old, given to me by a friend of my mothers, they belonged to her mother in law. I've never had one break but a glass horn stop tooting! Sadly my only child doesn't like decorating for Christmas, WHAT
Stop editing out your shopping videos ... they're so fun to watch LOL ♥️ wow has it been really 10 years I have loved every minute of watching! I didn't used to comment or like as I didn't realize it helped you guys I was just a silent watcher ... my bad😁😇
At our gate we built a box for the driver to easily place the deliveries inside. They stay safely out of sight and protected from the weather. At the end of the day, I drive down and collect all the goodies.
The true saying is “ I got a wild hair up my as$” or “ you got a wild hair up your as$” but of course Laura is too polite to say that. She also uses “Mickey Mouse” for a jimmy-rigged situation like my family uses that expression and hardly anyone does ! “What a mickey mouse job” 💚🌲
I think it would be fun to see what Benjamin thinks. Maybe a short video for Saturdays (five minutes or less). Things such as "which is your favorite shade plant and why?" Or "what should we try in this spot next year?" (Like when he put the Lantana out last summer!) I'm curious to see how much he's picked up and retained. (Or, since he's little still, his kid views that may be kooky. Kids his and Samantha's age are so much fun!)
PLEASE DO NOT cut back on the shopping trips. I watch them over and over hoping each time that they would be a bit longer😅
Agreed!
I NEVER tire of watching you ladies antiquing, please keep more of that footage from being edited out.
Love your pretty ornaments and the Bing Crosby/Danny Kay snippet 🤣.

Would Bethany and Paul be willing to sit down and do a Q&A with you and Aaron? It would be interesting to get their take.
I store my ornaments the same way, but the Ornaments are wrapped in tissue in cardboard/Shoe boxes, then the boxes are stacked in Rubbermaid bins. A few really special ones are in the original packaging.

Yes! The pop up bag!
YES pop up bag!!
I love my pop up bag. It really does take a beating, and it holds a lot. Great quality.

Susan So Pretty
Laura, that is exactly how I store my ornaments and I've had them for over 25 years. Still looking as good as new.
They should name a variety of lantana after Benjamin..."Benjamin's buttons"? 🥰
Or Bachelor Buttons called "Benjamin".
Love it❤
Love your shopping trips. And fun to have Monica along. She has a lovely sense of humor..❤️❤️
“GEEZ LOUISE!” Love it Aaron! 😄
And stop it Laura! Stop editing more out of your shopping videos! 😄 We love every bit of them … and more!
With coffee in hand, I watch every minute of your videos, especially the Sunday morning Q & A laughs… y’all are hilarious together!
I also find myself chuckling every time I hear “the dirt lands”… I know why you call it that, it’s precious how a child’s mind works ❤️

Sunday videos with conversations with Laura and Aaron ….. hard to beat when deciding favorites!!!
Yes, the casualness in saying "dirtlands" cracks me up 😂

Austin, Tx proven winners person - we would love a central Texas proven winners guide!!!!
This year was really rough in Texas!😢
I always enjoy the shopping videos with your mom and sister. My mom passed in 2018, when I was 38, so I don’t have those experiences with her and my sister anymore. I loved when it was just us girls. In Ct we have a lot of humidity and they melt a bit here too
I was thinking it may be the humidity. We are hot in TN, barely a cool down at night, but are extremely humid with a lot of rain downpours.
Loved when Ken put in the White Christmas "Wow" clip with Bing and Danny! it was perfect!
Last weeks videos will be hard to beat! I watched each video more than once and loved the beautiful snow, fun shopping trip, ideas for more beautiful plants in 2024, and the happiness ending with Grandma playing in the sand. So thankful for your videos and all you share with us! ❤️

I watch all your videos in their entirety with my morning coffee
I love the idea of a "winter greens cutting garden".
OMG I had no idea there was Russell and cheddar merch 😍😍😍
I was surprised when Aaron said he just assumed people does watch the videos. I watch all of them. And never think they are too long. Lol. Usually in AM. Aaron, my Tamarack trees lose their needles every fall / winter and look dead, lol. Keep holding out hope for life in your tree, Laura!
That's how we store ornaments too! 40+ years and going strong
Yes…your videos are long, but they are informative and entertaining! I would rather watch you than most of what is on my tv!
If my local garden center had a table devoted to
“Laura from Garden Answer’s” new for 2024,
I would make a b-line for that!!!
You should mention it to them 😊😂🤣
Same!!!
Our local pop up garden center watches GA to see what to order since that is what the shoppers will be looking for.
My garden center doesn't have a Laura section, but they just happen to have a stand with the same current flowers that GA is featuring, lol.
Here in Texas, my Dad called misting (rain) or not quite rain, the Texas tinkle. 😂 He always had a funny way of turning a phrase.
I’ve still got roses growing in England and we have very cold weather.

You two are funny ! Poop on the berries. I LOL at Aaron. Not only does the video give good info BUT you give good laughs - “bubble out of my mouth “ 😂
Yes, we like the longer videos. Love the shopping ones as well.
Your banter…. 😆😆
Love these videos!

I have to say that I LOVE you two's "Ying and Yang" ❣️ Really, you were made for each other. I love the laughs I get watching your videos!
How about having an iron work sculpture made for the circle in your new patio area near the Hartley. Would be really nice to match your gates
Make sure you add Magnolia to your cut arrangement Tree section they have beautiful underside leaf’s
The balcony repetition is totally acceptable. It is a classic design and so iconic. I love it.
In regard to bird feeders, here in CT I keep feeders from November to April (unsuprisingly bears love birdseed! So wait for hibernation) My advice would be to google your state Audubon society for guidelines.
We are under a blizzard warning in Alaska. Hoping the roads clear soon.
Naming plants would be such fun!
Garden Answer Gaillardia,
Benjamin Button Bush,
Aaron’s Plant High Pines,
Laura’s Lavender Lace Cap Hydrangea,
Samantha’s Full of Grace Geraniums
Merry Christmas to You and Yours!

That was a cool shop talk with your Dad. Let's bring Mom in together! 🌲🌲
Blooper reels would be very fun!!
Blooper reels of any kind! lol
Love their shopping trips, sooo much fun. Such a special family!!
😱One for the blooper reel would have to be the day the giant water fountain crashed down and almost took Aarons head with it! Yikes!😮
Oooo! Thanks for the update on your shop! I just ordered a Russell & Cheddar sweatshirt! Such a unique purchase... You might have to redesign to include Douglas, now!
Did anyone else go back to see if they could spot Aaron's bubble???!!! Couldn't spot it. That was hilarious!!!
Laura, I store my ornaments the same way. Plastic box and paper towels. The "Ornament Storage" boxes have less protection than the paper towel method.
That's a great idea Coco liners for the squirrels thank you.
Happiest of holidays! Don’t chg a thing-your collective ideas are so fun and educational!
Oh Laura, those of us who don't have our Mommas with us anymore and don't have a sister really, really enjoy watching you all together ❤
💕YES ..... Please don't stop Laura, Susan and Monica. I just love seeing you altogether! 🎀
I agree!!
And it’s. Not necessary to edit the video to make it shorter! 😉
I love the xmas shopping videos...make them as long as you want.
Yes!!! And a husband, too!!! We always went antiquing and he took me to coffee and dinner, too. We always had dates❤❤❤28 years❤❤❤
When you mentioned how you attach your ornaments to the tree you commented the only way they would fall is if they slide out of the hook attachment.
**crying**
I love Monica’s new hairstyle. So cute on her. ❤
Some wild type roses in the dirt lands would be gorgeous (also give you hips to cut from)!!
I live in Texas!! It does not cool down enough here in Dallas 😵💫 it will be 90-95 at midnight 2 am!
I’m in Arlington and this last summer was brutal!
“There’s bird poop on the berries”- you guys just 😂 me up!
That had me laughing too !!! Just love these guys !!-
Thank you for answering the question regarding the zone on plant tags. I always understood the lower number, but never understood the higher number. Make so much more sense now.
'I can't reecall a december like this'
'hope you guys are having a glorious December'
'this is unheard of!'
'having a great year, loving it'
'we have snails!?'

'we don't believe the new haridness zones'
'global warming is a myth, not sure about it'
Aaron, as far as the gate, yes you just give UPS and FedEx your gate code. (I have a gate that has a remote for access as well as a keypad).
Sadly my only child doesn't like decorating for Christmas, WHAT
I live in south Texas and petunias do amazing here. You have to water every day in the summer.
Can you imagine how big their box would have to be?? 😂
For large shipments they always call first so the gate is open.@@susanhale5232
Another wonderful video! The Russell and Cheddar sweatshirt is so sweet. 💕🎄💕
The “GA Shits” instead of Shirts in the description box made me laugh 😂 Have a great week Laura & Aaron
Prophesy of Garden Answer using animal manures for fertilizing?
Ha. I went and looked as well. Wait for the moaning to start. How funny. 😂
Hahahaha
Proofreading can sometimes just read like the right word, working at a newspaper proved that many times
I caught that too! Made me giggle 🤭
I love the you and Aaron cross chatter .. it’s such a happy time to be part of .. thank you for that xx
I think it would be fun to see what Benjamin thinks. Maybe a short video for Saturdays (five minutes or less). Things such as "which is your favorite shade plant and why?" Or "what should we try in this spot next year?" (Like when he put the Lantana out last summer!)
I'm curious to see how much he's picked up and retained. (Or, since he's little still, his kid views that may be kooky. Kids his and Samantha's age are so much fun!)
I really appreciate the recap. It reminds me of what I've watched and enjoyed all week and gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Thanks!!!
Amazon sells spheres like what you've used. I'm not sure on the quality of it and of course, they're sold out right now.
Indoor swimming pool. Awesome idea Aaron.
