    I have never seen anyone weld as professionally as you. How to make a difficult job look easy, watch you and the weld joints are meticulous. Thumbs up from me.

    Top stuff, excellent that you made the point about grinding, it drives me bonkers when people bring me stuff to weld up and "Ive run the grinder over it to save you time" grrrr. And I agree on stitching rather than spot welding, its quicker, but not only that, I've found that spot welds are easy to get wrong. That panel work is mega, even more so when you did it with the basic bead roller, ace stuff.

      Yeh its always great when people do there bit to save you time and it makes it take twice as long. Cheers

    1. Why don't you seam weld it?
    2. Do the 1mm sheets need to overlap or can you butt them up against each other?

    I'm curious why you don't let the shielding gas do its job to protect the weld pool at the end of each weld? The welder starts and stops the gas flow before and after the trigger is pulled. You're seen here letting off the trigger and immediately moving off without letting the shield gas protect the cooling joint. Am I missing something here in your technique?

    • @Urchfab
      @Urchfab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Its not necessary with this, a little pre gas helps to ensure there's coverage the arc start but there's no need to flood it with gas afterwards.

    I agree with opening the seams gently with a chisel. But you make alot of work for yourself. Use an mbx to clean out. Shouldnt be doing long welds, as it'll warp the steel like a friggin quaver, as it goes, lol. But very informative video, for people learning at home.i dont like when folk use brass/copper behind sheet, as you really dont want inclusion.

    How would u tackle a floor in a truck if u want it welded completely? What gauge of sheet metal do u recommend? I only have a tig welder

    • @Urchfab
      @Urchfab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If its a work truck and weight isn't an issue then I would probably use 1.5mm. thats gonna make the welding a tad easier too. Cheers

    • @rafatrill
      @rafatrill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Urchfab would u recommend I weld it like ur floor or all the way around, how would u tackle it with a tig welder?

    • @Urchfab
      @Urchfab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its up to you, if I'm making full panels then I stitch them in if I'm doing a rust repair patch then its welded all the way around. there's no problem tig welding it its just gonna take you longer. Cheers

    • @rafatrill
      @rafatrill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Urchfab idk how to attack it because every video I see they are mig welding it should I tack everything first and then weld it up or should I work in different places. I'm trying to avoid blow threws and flexing the metal with to much heat

    • @Urchfab
      @Urchfab  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just get it all tacked in before you start welding, let each section cool before you move on and move to different sides and corners as you go around.

    Honest question. Why not just run a solid weld on the seams instead of breaking up the welds into stitches?

    • @yeshuamattisyehudah1497
      @yeshuamattisyehudah1497 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Long welds tend to warp the metal you're trying to join. Not great for racecars
