    Love their "wild" look! In fact, those are 2 of coolest orchids I've seen, because of the Unique way the flowers and shoots "arranged" themselves. - Lynda

    Hi Danny! I live in the Philippines and we(me and my mom) actually have these phalaenopsis. They bloom and produce keikis like no other! We actually grew it on one of our backyard trees and they don't look as unruly maybe because it mimics their natural environment. All the roots are attached to the bark and we only have the flowers sticking out with several keikis. The flower stems also usually withers away after a couple batch of flowers. So we remove them then. Thank you for your videos! I am learning a lot.

    My mom always call the spider plant as “bad mother” (mala madre in Spanish) beacuse it kicked out the kids from the pot.

    Hi Danni. I don’t have your orchids but I have a Phal that bloomed once and has grown large for a mini. She is now giving me large leaves and tons of air and pot roots. I now noticed a new leaf that looks like a pea pod. Very wild looking. Enjoyed this video.

    I have a couple phals that have the same trait to produce keikis that will bloom with the mother plant early as well and I'm currently planning on trying to manipulate that growth pattern into a layered/ cascading arrangement in hopes to create the appearance of a cascading waterfall of blooms

    This video is just what I have wanted to see! 😍Would you be able to do "part 2" where you would present orchids with tendency to grow "alien like"? What I mean by this is heavy root producer (+maybe heavy keiki producer) wich would over time make orchid look like octopus or alien😅 Thank you for your super content! 🥰

    Hello Danny! I actually have a question for you.. i watered my mini phals today, and later i noticed that one of them had tons of small droplets underneath one of the leaves which were quite sticky! Im sure it did not have this before i watered- is this related maybe? I’ve heard you say before that sticky residue on orchids might be from pests- but.. it was just so many drops on the whole outer line of the underside of the leaf it made me think it looked too «strategically placed» to be from pests🤔 would love a response to know wether i should worry / take any action or not ! ❤️

    Danny, help‼️I inherited a huge 8 year old Phal with 20 air roots that are 8-10 inches long. Some are perfect, some are brown and desiccated 1/2 way down. Should I cut off the dried parts? It is planted in bark and has been for 2 years I don't want to repot at this point, because it is in spike for the third time this year. Please help!🤗

  • @mayastoyanova3020

    My bastianii keiki inherited his mom's wild looks. It is like an explosion of flower spikes and new roots. 😆

  • @techprojm
    @techprojm ปีที่แล้ว

    Is this the result of not cutting bloom spikes on a sequential blooming orchid? If I cut the spikes on a sequential blooming or hid that I just received in order to allow it to save energy from the stress of shipping and adjusting to my grow area, will it grow more next year or is it best to just leave them and let it acclimate.

    have you ever had an orchid that was induced into polyploidy with something like colchicine or oryzaline? I hear they're super vigorous and potentially weird/wild looking

  • @carolprenger1240

    This has probably been asked a million times! Can you put two orchids beside each other and somehow get an all new orchid? I have been loving orchids in my home for about 8 years. It’s never happened for me.

    • @anniketaljaard2280
      @anniketaljaard2280 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The process of hybridization is unfortunately a bit more complex than just putting them next to one another, if you were hoping to get a new orchid.
      It involves hand polination, in which you take a tooth pick to collect pollin from the one parent and polinate the other parent manually.
      If it produces seeds, the hard part begins. Seeds are almost powdery they are so tiny and in nature they form a symbiotic relationship with a very specific kind of fungi. Orchid seeds don’t store nutrients and can’t survive and grow without an external source of nutrients. You need lab conditions to keep them from dying outside of their natural habitat. I think orchid bliss has a pretty good article about how to grow the seeds but thats pretty much the hard part.
