My father often said "Rather exxagerate than be boring" - very Danish, I think. In my experience (I'm 73) we Danes are interested in and fond of foreigners. But no small talk. Right into a question to Danes, and you get him/her/them interested. "Will you please help me - I got lost" - "What is this building" ... but never personal in any way as a starter. And as relaxed as possible :-) ... then continue the conversation :-) Smiles and a positive attitude helps in any country of the world.
You give the answer on basic level, smile... meanwhile the problem is on a higher level, that of engagement. How to get the people involved, when they think you re not worth it. Or anything at all. Smile is not the answer. Besides, Danes aren t the smiling types, it s not logical too.
I'm Salvadoran and I'm fascinated with Nordic-everything. In September this year I flew from Barcelona to Billund and then drove to Copenhagen. On my Ryanair flight -full of Danes- I really wanted to talk to at least to the elderly couple next to me. But I kept it cool and abided to what I had learned about small talk in many European cultures. Surprisingly, the elderly couple approached to me proactively, and asked about my trip to Denmark, they gave me tips about driving and parking in Denmark, they told me about their vacation trip to BCN and other cool stuff to see and learn in Denmark. I guess they were an exception, but I really enjoyed talking to them. Probably my foreigner looks inclined them to be kind and thought "this short latino dude really needs help hanging out in DK".
You know you've made a Danish friend, when you're invited to meet their OLD friends, you know, the ones they've known since kindergarden and high school! And it can be as nerve wrencing as meeting in laws.
I lived in Copenhagen for a short period. I remember that a dane had as New Year's Eve resolution to make new friends, not because she actually wanted more friends (since she was, using her own words, already satisfied with her current ones) but because she learned in Business class that it was extremely important for networking, so she might give it a try. For me that was hilarious 😂😂😂
It's true when you have a Danish friend, they are loyal for life. I am American (half Danish) and met my Danish friend when we were in High School (she lives in Jutland). We grew up, had our families, our jobs and busy lives... and 32 years later, despite the distance, we are still friends. No matter how hard I try, I can't get rid of her! Hey, young, Danish curling born...it's a joke. Back off!!
All of this can be applied to Norwegians too, we dread small talk and people chatting us up in public spaces. But once you do manage to befriend a Norwegian, you've got yourself a friend for life through thick and thin.
I befriended a Norwegian once ( I know right, Amazing 😉), we became friends because she was sailing with her family, was the only child onboard the ship, and I was the only kid around who could actually understand what she was saying- the other Danish kids didn't understand shit. 😂 But now that you've mentioned- that it's almost like having a friend here in Denmark, I think I will start writing to her more. I didn't even realize that was what I needed to hear. Thanks 😁
@@CatchBurning I went shopping once with my Danish friend in her town in Jutland. We were stopped by a woman who was unknown to my friend. But they chatted a while and then the woman walked away. So, the Danes are like the Cullen family? 🤣🤣🤣 They're very rarely ready to socialize and we have to catch them out like the weak gazelle of the herd? Sure, I can be a lion on the hunt to make friends. OMG 🤣🤣🤣. Great video, thank you!
I am American and today in the Dentist office waiting room there was a lady and and elderly man. It has been snowing and I said "Bad roads getting here today." (Trivial conversation). I find out the lady works for my same company and the elderly man is the father of a schoolmate of my wife. Trivial conversation led to a nice conversation.
LOL, I've been in Denmark for 2 years and LOVE the culture of no small conversations ... finding a topic is SO AWKWARD, just smile and walk away please :D
I don't get complaints from expats who say that its hard to make friends in particular country etc. It's always hard to make local friends even in your own country (if you move from one city to another), and it would definitely be harder if you move to another country. Locals everywhere have an established circle of friends, and for whatever reasons they don't want to invite outsiders there. If you want to befriend locals, try connecting to nationals who are in the same position as you - like people who also just moved to the same city and have no friends there. Like, if you are in Copenhagen, try to befriend Danes who are not from Copenhagen and are new to the city.
Not only I don’t know how to make friends with Danes I also don’t know how to know them even easy conversations. Sometimes Danes saw me confused by the road and offer me some help. When I say “tak” they just happily disappeared. I really wish I could know some Danes to hangout with maybe just for a coffee to start with. Fingers crossed.
Danes are such great people it seems like you guys & girls are cold hearted or mean & antisocial but really you Danes are direct, honest, self aware & aware of what’s going on around you &respectful to other people’s personal space, thats why I feel that introverted people make the best friends because they are deeper and are more focused and don’t get easily distracted or manipulated. they don’t act stupid in public, aren’t loud, wild and arrogant& attention seeking, they just mind their business and live their life how they want to, and when u have a danish friend u have a loyal friend for life and not a wishy washy or fake “friend”. That’s how it is sometimes in America, I feel like a lot of people weren’t real friends they were more like fans because when I was really good on the basketball team it drew me a lot of attention and I had so many “friends”. But it was all just fake love. I’d rather have one friend that’s gonna be there for me and that I have a real connection with than a lot of fake friends that just here to try to get fame or look good. Some friendships are like hierarchy’s in America and it’s so fake and superficial.
This is accurate. I’m Danish, but my wife is American. I met her when she was in Denmark for her study abroad in Copenhagen and at the time she had no Danish friends either. The friends she did have were Americans too or from the Faroe Islands and thats actually how I met her.
hahahaha oh my god, I'm Danish and I didn't realize that we were that difficult to make friends with 😂 Maybe I'm just a weirdo, who welcomes everybody with open arms and a big HIIIII 😂
Thank you very much really for these nice information.. it’s been a long time for me searching for reasons for this cultural difference and now you made things more clear for me .. the biggest problem is that foreigners take some Danish culture and attitude as something personal ( like avoiding small conversations in the supermarket for example) ..... cultures understanding is very important to erase confusion.. Thanks a lot
I got my Danisb friend by accident as he was trying to add a different person on MSN messenger about 13 years ago. We have been planning to visit each others countries this year and next.... but ya know, corona o.o soooo we'll wait for now. But I'm slowly learning Danish and more about the Danish culture and its fascinating and I'm glad I stumbled across your videos :D tak!
after having had the neighbors over for dinner 15 times, we are slowly considering making them our acquaintances... but it seems like such a drastic decision. I mean, we have only known them for 2 years now.
after 3 years, I can say, IT'S SO TRUE. We would keep inviting Danes and have good time but they never did the same so we just gave up on them seeing they would never let us in...
I love Denmark, but Danes make it so tough to enjoy a social life. Basically, your only chance to make friends is to befriend other internationals, which of course is also nice, but I would love to have a few Danish friends as well. They seem to be friendly only at times when they already had a few beers, which for me personally is a bit sad and doesn't encourage me to continue those endeavors. As much as I love Denmark, the beautiful nature, parks, and beaches, the bike roads, general health and wealth, a country can be only as good as their citizens are. For me (mind it, I'm from a much friendlier part of Europe), it looks like it's not working out as I imagined, but hey, maybe it's only me. This is only my point of view, and I will always and forever love Denmark. Kisses
@@VogterViking Come on, just cut that bullshit. Every Dane says this, well hello, that's how it works in most countries and cultures. You're not special by being emotionally deprived and deflecting it to you only being selective and looking for friendships for life. Anyone could do it. Let's face the reality.
We don't know how to make friends with Danes either. It just happens randomly. Most of our friends are from our childhood - we've never considered making friends in our adulthood. And it's not that we're only friendly when we're drinking. Most Danes are always friendly - just in a different way than you're used to. If you ask for help on the street, there is almost a line of people, who would want to help you. But making new friends, that is just as hard for us.
@@vossthevoss Can relate to this, I went to a Højskole for half a year and of course it's a different situation but people there were always really helpful when you asked for it. After my stay I realized there is only one danish person I could say I become close with, she was around with all the international students a lot. Most of the others already seemed to have known each other for quite a long time and even for danish people it was really hard to join friendship groups.
This is so interesting as i have stumbled across this debate all over the internet, that its hard to make friends in dk. Then take finland, which has stereotypically shy timid people, but still foreigners make friends with them easily! Dk in the other hand is known for their super chatty people, but no friendships tho. Hmmm
Few Danes will want to invest time in someone who will leave within a year or two. With friendships being as close as they are, it's no wonder. I think you can liken Danish friendship to love instead, and you might be closer to the severity. Not romantic love, but a strong one none the less, and one that you expect to last for life-- much like you aim for with a romantic partner. Acquaintances are fine, and we can be friendly with them, but we don't invest emotionally.
Thank you for that video i cracked up laughing! I guess DK is the best land to go for people who want to be alone in the middle of hundrets of other people. :D Rock on Danish :D :D Kære hilsen fra Østrig.
Thanks Kelly,,,it was a question I was wondering about and you expanded what I already knew about danes. I have some FB friends who are danish and I wondered why they were not curious about my country etc and what we do. Jeg har lært dansk i næsten ni år, og de svarer mig, hvilket er rigtig godt så mange tak. Så mange tak for hjælper mig forstår den danskener!!
Coming from the hot sticky middle east when everyone is up and about your case refering to you as friend, bro etc, even if they are strangers and people feel entitled speaking to you and invading your personal space I find the Danish approach rather refreshing. I am married to a Dane and he himself says that it is hard to make friends here but I really enjoy personal space. I read about an expat who really had it hard to make friends with Danish people and forced her presence until one of the targets told her that she simply has enough friends and doesnt need any more 😁. All I'm saying is - to make friends be yourself, be honest, don't force it. I think it works the same everywhere.
If you're really in trouble, just bum a cigarette off of someone or ask to borrow their lighter. I've had several friendships and one night stands that startet out with me borrowing their lighter or bumming a smoke. It's kinda like an implicit icebreaker, it's also why so many danes smoke i think
Now i finally, after all these years, found out what is my spirit animal - It`s Dane. I can`t describe how i hate that feature of my people to start force that "friendly" conversation with someone you asked a time two month ago. According to almost everyone only this single thing make you BFF and you have to say Hiiiii and shake hands every single time till one of you dead!
Hey, Kelly. I need an advice. I am traveling abroad now, currently in Mexico, and I’ve met a cute Danish guy in my Spanish group. All of us became friends, and me and him spend a bit more time with each other than with others. I have a massive a crush on him. But he’s so aloof. Yes, he is very attentive in our conversations, several times he even spoonfed me when we shared lunch :) He was also okay when once I came late for our trip (which is weird for a Scandinavian person) and several times he offered to pay for me when I was short of cash (which is also weird for a Scandinavian man to do for a woman). Otherwise, he seems uninterested. How can I show him I’m interested without being too creepy and violating his personal space?
I'm danish, and to me he sounds like he is being really nice to you. I have some guy friends who have done similar things for me, but that's because we are really good friends. I think likes you, but I of course can't say if he likes you as a friend or more than that. Maybe just try asking him on a date? Or ask him to hang out with you alone. You could try to get to know each other better, and see if it evolves into more.
Find out if he has a girlfriend(s) at home and take it from there. She would be his" real life" GF. You would be his" holiday in Mexico away from Denmark" GF until the party is over and everyone goes back home. Find out if he is interested in "keeping in touch" after you both get back home. You can take any evasiveness as a RED FLAG . But have fun in MEXICO!
Ofc danish guys wanna pay for you if you cannot, and they want to see the world with you. My bet is that he is also into you. But be careful, we also have very casual sex culture. Vogter Viking-guy also have some good points. we really dont make casual friendships, either we're in, or we're out.
Jesus Christ just tell him you're interested in him. Girls make no sense when they try dating guys. Girls will be like I blinked twice and smiled, why doesn't he notice that I like him? JUST TELL HIM AND GET IT OVER WITH
I'm moving to Denmark next year (somehow I was able to befriend AND marry a Dane, it's a miracle!), and this gives me a bit of hope that I'll be able to find some friends when I start integrating :)
I am British and a lot of what you're saying makes sense to me; I really don't like strangers just talking to me in every day life, my friendship groups are very hard/impossible to break in to. I made a lot of my friends a long time ago and don't actively seek more, although I am not closed to the idea. "This time the answer is not beer." This is where we Brits deviate from you. Why is the answer not beer?! Beer is the perfect way to make friends, and the pub is the perfect place to do it.
I'm a danish Language learner and God willing, perhaps one day studying there, so thanks a lot for your videos, they're quite interesting and a great way to know danish character
I notice this... Because soon I'll Travel in Copenhague ... I'm french and in my culture we speak with everybody, everywhere...😉👍... Thank you for your precious advices...
Hello Kelly, Some friendly advice..I was trying to make my voice sound differant also.Try to work on some cartoon voice or a funny movie actor and see what you come up with...You might hit gold.
I thought any kind of emotional bonding between Danish people was a myth Jokes aside, I remember making a Danish friend on the internet(it was MSP ahem, but nope i am not a middle school kid) and she was super clingy, but in a good way. I loved it! We both adored each other, it was amazing. Then I found a boy that was older than me, we had a nice long talk as well. I don’t know if it’s because that people on the Danish server are mostly young and of Gen Z, but they were usually funny and friendly.
oh my god i dont remember this at all😭 currently im struggling to learn danish and i plan on spending 2 months of my medical internship in denmark. you barely made it, 2018 me.
Stuck in Lockdown - and now it seems I am Working from home forever. It's harder than ever to make English friends never mind Danish ones 😂 - I actually Love the Danes / Swedes. Been the Copenhagen - seemed great to me.
So my country was devastated by a category 5 hurricane almost a year and half ago. 2017 was my worst year so far because of this and college and shit and 2018 was not that bad but still it was a difficult year too. My point? All of this made me forgot about this amazing channel and its mesmerizing videos. Thanks to the almighty I randomly remembered "HOLY SHIT I HAVEN'T SEEN A SINGLE VIDEO OF KELLY LOUISE KILLJOY FOR A LONG TIME" and typed those exact words in the search bar and clicked on the first video and my life is complete again. Thanks for reading random user.
Well this video describes me perfectly! I am american, with danish heritage, so maybe that explains it? It's funny how looking up "how to make Danish friends", leads to explaining why its difficult for me to make friends 🤷♀️
I’m a Latín and trust pretty emotional and explosive in my personality and when I went to Denmark 🇩🇰 I really had a hard time trying to fit in or making new friends. Hahahaha but idk I loved it, Denmark is so beautiful maybe I’ll have a second chance in the future. Would’ve been nice to know this before but I didn’t know I needed it thought. One night a Danish girl talk to me and I was so happy I think that was the only friend I made Hahahaha I couldn’t hide my smile (my fault: I’m a Latin, to make friends here all you need to say is: hi how are you and BOOOM that’s it friends for life )
Sounds just like Germany :P Im german and moved to another city and its just how u described, everyone has their friendsgroup already sorted and seems like no seat is empty! I never realized cause in my hometown i was the one with all seats taken :D
Thanks for the new video! Cheers from the US (Danish ancestry like a billion years ago lol but I still love the land of my ancestors) ; ) I love your videos
It's incredibly frustrating that nobody views you seriously even if you're not like other foreigners passing through. I lived in Copenhagen for a year, and for 5 months of that time I lived with Danes. I have a Danish partner, I speak Danish at a conversational level (had studied for 2 years), and even though I was only abroad for that year, I am going back next year for my masters degree. Their thought process is if you're foreign, they put you into a box of people that are not worth their time because they don't want to invest in someone who might leave (but I'm going backkkk). I think joining sport clubs would help, but Copenhagen is even more insular than people think because everyone goes to gymnasium together wherever (maybe even in Jylland), then they all move to Copenhagen together for university. And they live together. Did I mention that they've known each other since they were 4 or 5? You simply cannot compete with that. And of course my boyfriend, who also is friends with the same people he's known since primary school, doesn't see the need to branch out. One of his two "friends" doesn't live nearby, so we only see him a few times a year anyway (now he lives in Greenland so we won't see him for over 2 years). This is fulfilling enough for him that he doesn't seem to want to find other people to spend time with, which is so frustrating because I feel that it's not enough. He has no female friends at all, and it's even harder to break into social groups at school and when you have male dominated hobbies so you need a well connected Dane to connect you with people, and then, because you're vetted, they'll be friendly from the get go.
hej rose! I also thinking for completing masters in Denmark, but after viewing louise & Elise videos, I'm thinking twice as a Bangladeshi (country of south east asia). Now I really needs to know their local culture with your help obviously . If I cant make friends in Danmark, why I'll even go there?
Omg that's to much effort haha 🙃🙃🙃 in Brazil u just need to be there and after sometime u will find yourself in some radom barbecue with people u don't know but they will treat u as family🙃
Mmm... sorry, but all of the characteristics you mention are the same in Mexico. We keep friendships for all life, being collegues doesn't make us friends... but that's not a problem for still make more friends xD. We sometimes call stangers "friend" but we don't mean friend friend. And talking to strangers is not seen as bad.
@@sonyguerra230 creo que depende del tipo de personas con quienes te relacionas y qué buscas, ¿no? La verdad es que México es un país muchísimo más grande que Dinamarca, así que es comprensible encontrar muchas similitudes y muchas diferencias.
I don't mean that we are the same, I just wanted to point out some different outcomes that come from the same principles. There is no implications or anything. Just similarities and differences.
As a Dane, u have 3 typs of friends. 1 people u know = bekendte. 2. People u invite to ur home = friends. 3 people u see a family = bortehers/Sisters ( to us family is the most important thing in the world)
I decided not going to study in Aalborg and Sonderborg as they are small cities and making friends there would be impossible. I ll take my Southern EU any day when it comes to warm social life and friends. Northern EU people are weird af and socially awkward, even when they are on their fake friendly holidays in Spain.
Even though one of the things that's being said to me all the time is that I should smile to them all the time and say thank you all the freaking time and even say hej to people in school and I'm like... Kelly on TH-cam said something else.. I'm too shy to talk to strangers help
I’m part Dane my grandfather was born in Denmark and moved to America and married a Swedish woman. Just trying to find my roots. Are they any people that are from Denmark that would like to be friends.
May04bwu Some people, Americans for example, adore their small talk, smiling to strangers and saying how, how are you. In other countries it’s considered weird.
@@constantines3238 Exactly, its "small talk" used as a time filler while on an airplane or in a doctors waiting room, etc.-Not to be taken seriously. But it is not mandatory. If it offends you, carry a book or do not take your head phones off.Its about as close as Americans get to British "banter" with strangers (which can also be annoying).
@@margaritam.9118 TO appear "friendly", even though superficial, is part of American culture. We adaped to this behavior because we have a tremendously large( over 300 million) and diverse amount of people living here from all over the world, and we are expected to be able to"get along" with all of them ( at least most of the time) . To appear "cold and aloof" is considered "unfriendly" behavior. Compare that to life in small, homogenous Denmark, for example. Who do Danes have to interact with on a daily basis: Monday-Danes, Tuesday-Danes, Wednesday-Danes, Thursday-Danes, etc.? Get the picture?
So... Are Canadians secretly Danes? Because everything you've described, including, "Don't fucking talk to me when I'm in line just because we have conversed in the past/work together/whatever" *and* vaguely maintaining a smallish circle of friends that you don't really add to... *And* the utility of alcohol in the process of making new friends... You're, like, describing my culture.

I trvel a lot and Danes are the most anthipatic people I met (in general, not everyone ofc) I studied in Copenhagen for 6 months and I just had forginer friends, Danes were kind of friendly when they were drunk. Norwegian and Swidish people are extremely friendly, even more than some South American countries! Denmark has pretty landscapes tho hahah Just my opinion 🤷🏼♀️☺️ is not nice to go to a Country where people don’t want to interact or have contact with u
Being from Yorkshire.. I think i am a secret Dane. I hate small talk. When meeting new people I instantly think stranger danger. If I see someone in the supermarket they simply get a smile and a raised eyebrow as a fake hello. If I have known them 2 or 3 years they may get a wave. But my friends I do have I have known for over 15 years. Drunk Danes.. When I came over to odense to see volbeat a couple of years ago, I have never seen a field with so many drunk friendly people. It was great, the only Danish I knew was to order 5 beers. I visited with 2 friends who have been so for 25 years. I must be a secret Dane.
Is it just me, or did it really sound like how just typical "friend_making" everywhere usually happens? I mean..is there really some country in the world where people approach random strangers in a supermarket and start a life-lasting friendship right away?

Your the exception not the rule so It means nothing when that won't work most of the time.
LOL, I've been in Denmark for 2 years and LOVE the culture of no small conversations ... finding a topic is SO AWKWARD, just smile and walk away please :D
I swear this how to video is like following an A.D.D. person through the woods and there is a lot of shiny things
God i missed you posting
My neighbor is 100% Danish (named Lars born and grew up in Denmark) in Tokyo and he is one of the friendliest person.
So, using a net would be wrong?
What!? I get the joke. But what!?
hahahaha oh my god, I'm Danish and I didn't realize that we were that difficult to make friends with 😂 Maybe I'm just a weirdo, who welcomes everybody with open arms and a big HIIIII 😂
Hi
Hello
I live among Danes, and this represents so well the main cultural behavior... it is hilarious!
Best Way to get a Danish friend :
1. Buy Them food.
2. Buy Them candy (alot)
3. Get a cage for Them
4. Capture Them.
5. Done!
after having had the neighbors over for dinner 15 times, we are slowly considering making them our acquaintances... but it seems like such a drastic decision. I mean, we have only known them for 2 years now.
after 3 years, I can say, IT'S SO TRUE. We would keep inviting Danes and have good time but they never did the same so we just gave up on them seeing they would never let us in...
Tip for having a lifetime friend--- Get a Danish friend!!!
I love keeping my old friends and I also enjoy making life long new friends!
I'm a Dane but I've lived in the Philippines since I was a kid. I think the Danish blood runs in me very well. All you said is me. Hahaha
"Too swedish" cracked me up! xD
Forget it guys. It's impossible to make friends in Denmark
So I just found out I have secretly been a Dane all alone, at least according to your description :D
I don't mind, Danes are great :3
If you're really in trouble, just bum a cigarette off of someone or ask to borrow their lighter.
This is harder than just dating someone, haha!
Don't engage! Abort mission! Run!
You get a free pass for being married to a Dane ;) Automatic membership ;)
It's definitely something to do with culture. Because im a Dane that grew up in Asia. And i absolutely love making new friends no matter where I'd be.
Like you so
15:08 LOL! Noticed you are about to laugh :D
But yes most of those friends do not last. Friends with the world indeed.
I'm a danish Language learner and God willing, perhaps one day studying there, so thanks a lot for your videos, they're quite interesting and a great way to know danish character
I'm danish, and I can confirm this advice!
I notice this... Because soon I'll Travel in Copenhague ... I'm french and in my culture we speak with everybody, everywhere...😉👍... Thank you for your precious advices...
Hello Kelly,
Some friendly advice..I was trying to make my voice sound differant also.Try to work on some cartoon voice or a funny movie actor and see what you come up with...You might hit gold.
The more I learn about Denmark the more I feel like I would love it there... I feel the exact same way about acquaintances 😂💀
I thought any kind of emotional bonding between Danish people was a myth
Jokes aside, I remember making a Danish friend on the internet(it was MSP ahem, but nope i am not a middle school kid) and she was super clingy, but in a good way.
Jeg har lige opdaget din kanal, og så vidt jeg elsker det! 🤘😁🤘🇩🇰💙
6:43 DSB spor 3. + all empty seats might be reserved so best to just stand by the doors to avoid embarrassment.
Well this video describes me perfectly! I am american, with danish heritage, so maybe that explains it? It's funny how looking up "how to make Danish friends", leads to explaining why its difficult for me to make friends 🤷♀️
I'm not danish but hearing this sounds just like how I am lmao...maybe I was Danish in a past life!
As a spaniard this sounds alien
I’m a Latín and trust pretty emotional and explosive in my personality and when I went to Denmark 🇩🇰 I really had a hard time trying to fit in or making new friends. Hahahaha but idk I loved it, Denmark is so beautiful maybe I’ll have a second chance in the future. Would’ve been nice to know this before but I didn’t know I needed it thought. One night a Danish girl talk to me and I was so happy I think that was the only friend I made Hahahaha I couldn’t hide my smile (my fault: I’m a Latin, to make friends here all you need to say is: hi how are you and BOOOM that’s it friends for life )
Friends for Life with latinos? POOR YOU!
😂😂😂😂😂😂BTW that was not a fart - SKÅL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 For fanden tøs du har humor 😂😂😂
Sounds just like Germany :P Im german and moved to another city and its just how u described, everyone has their friendsgroup already sorted and seems like no seat is empty! I never realized cause in my hometown i was the one with all seats taken :D
Thanks for the new video! Cheers from the US (Danish ancestry like a billion years ago lol but I still love the land of my ancestors) ; ) I love your videos
Omg, poles will be your best friends😂❤️
This resonated so well with my danish nature 😂
Omg that's to much effort haha 🙃🙃🙃 in Brazil u just need to be there and after sometime u will find yourself in some radom barbecue with people u don't know but they will treat u as family🙃
Mmm... sorry, but all of the characteristics you mention are the same in Mexico. We keep friendships for all life, being collegues doesn't make us friends... but that's not a problem for still make more friends xD. We sometimes call stangers "friend" but we don't mean friend friend. And talking to strangers is not seen as bad.
Carlos Enrique Mora González si pero cuantos de esos amigos en realidad son nuestros amigos. La gran mayoría de ellos son más amigos de peda.
Yeah that's nothing like us Danes. You're very different. Rewatch Louise video and let it sink in.
I’m going on my Language year abroad to study in Copenhagen next year. Can you do a video on how to succeed as a student/young person in Denmark?
Can someone in Denmark especially a woman be my friend...am a Ugandan.
As a Dane, u have 3 typs of friends. 1 people u know = bekendte. 2. People u invite to ur home = friends. 3 people u see a family = bortehers/Sisters ( to us family is the most important thing in the world)
feel this can be for the rest of the nordicXD
I decided not going to study in Aalborg and Sonderborg as they are small cities and making friends there would be impossible. I ll take my Southern EU any day when it comes to warm social life and friends.
Northern EU people are weird af and socially awkward, even when they are on their fake friendly holidays in Spain.
And that's why it's so hard to be an exchange student in Denmark. I have to know it...
Even though one of the things that's being said to me all the time is that I should smile to them all the time and say thank you all the freaking time and even say hej to people in school and I'm like... Kelly on TH-cam said something else.. I'm too shy to talk to strangers help
Don’t feel bad tho :(
Ugh I’ve missed you!
such a long time since we saw you! grate video 😆
I’m part Dane my grandfather was born in Denmark and moved to America and married a Swedish woman. Just trying to find my roots. Are they any people that are from Denmark that would like to be friends.
Then again, who talks to strangers? In general. I always thought not talking to strangers was normal... Isn't it...? No? Ok :'D
May04bwu
Some people, Americans for example, adore their small talk, smiling to strangers and saying how, how are you.
In other countries it’s considered weird.
In eastern europe there's a game nut job or american
May04bwu Me too...Then I come to America and I receive a lot of meaningless “what’s up” questions, saying nonsense with people I will never met again
1) You have very pretty eyes 2) I like how you say school 3) Very interesting information regarding Danes :)
Oh I miss ur video sooo much! Making friends with Danes is really not easy...I have experienced once I thought we are already close and became friends but she doesnt think so, even we hang out together....
You said most ADULT Danes. I am 15 and am wondering if the children in Denmark my age are the same way.
Joie, how did you make friendships with 3 Danes?
I trvel a lot and Danes are the most anthipatic people I met (in general, not everyone ofc) I studied in Copenhagen for 6 months and I just had forginer friends, Danes were kind of friendly when they were drunk. Norwegian and Swidish people are extremely friendly, even more than some South American countries! Denmark has pretty landscapes tho hahah
Just my opinion 🤷🏼♀️☺️ is not nice to go to a Country where people don’t want to interact or have contact with u
Thats one reason why we always ask people: “Are we even friends?” On Danish: “er vi overhoved venner?”
The dark side of hygge…:-)
Can you make an danish video
Thanks.
sounds so hard..but still enjoy the video hahaha
Is it just me, or did it really sound like how just typical "friend_making" everywhere usually happens? I mean..is there really some country in the world where people approach random strangers in a supermarket and start a life-lasting friendship right away?
Your makeup is lovely!
This is so accurate jeez
Kan du lave en fulstendig dansk video
