    Well I'll be, of all the years of running my torch I didn't know you could get a rebuild kit for them ! 😞
    I threw one away a long time ago because I didn't trust it, I could have rebuilt it ! At least I did keep the gauges !
    Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍

    Hey Frank
    Victor makes good stuff. Well worth what they cost. I have a set of 50 year old MECO (Modern Engineering Co) made in St Louis, Mo that was given to years ago. I had the same type of line pressure creep that you had on the oxygen regulator. The MECO regulators are a multi-seat design Soto repair that problem you take the back cap off the regulator and remove one screw to rotate the seat block to a new seat surface. Each block has 4 seats on it before it needs replaced. MECO came only with that design in 1922 or so. They were bought out by Victor/ESAB in the 90’s.

      Seal Seat carries parts for many old torches and regulators including Meco. www.sealseat.com/
      Tip adapters are available for Meco. I have a couple of these:
      www.atlweldingsupply.com/collections/cutting-tips/cutting-tip-adaptors
      Check out Weldingweb. I collect and rebuild torches and regulators and learned a lot there.

    I realize this is a bit dated and that you probably already figured it out, but if i am reading your regulator's Mod No. correctly, I believe the C at the end indicates it is rated for 80 PSIG output. So your relief valve is acting appropriately.
    Thanks for the video, John

    Good video. I think the kit was missing the large white plastic seal that was under the main body. I've rebuilt a few different regulators and if I remember correctly the kits all came with new seals. Also if someone isn't comfortable rebuilding their own regulators Victor used to offer a rebuilding service for a fair price. Yes, clean and oil free is important, water soluble soap, a good rinse and dry air will do.

      Jim Zivny Thank you, I thought the same on the washers too, The last kit I bought had them included, this one didn't have them listed though.

    Wanted to rebuilt mind, it just broke yesterday. I looked at your video last night and figured I could do it. I called the company that sells Victor Parts, I have model 250-80-540 a Victor Medalist Oxy regulator. Was told they do not deal with the public, but let me give you the part number for the part you need plus the part number for a complete rebuild if you so desire, thanks. I call the closest dealer (Arc3 Gasses
    FREDERICKSBURG, VA) as found on the ESAB web site. They tell me...sorry we dont sell parts to the public as you have to have 2 Million Dollars liability, we have a guy that can rebuild it for you, but it will probably be cheaper to just buy a new one...WTH? Great service, thanks, I will go into Harbor Freight tomorrow and and buy a $70 Olsen!

    Good video. I've rebuilt many regulators because it's a great way to save money and downtime.
    WARNING! When working with OXYGEN regulators use acetone and NOTHING else or different to clean them. Study cleaning to "oxygen safe" standards. It ain't hard but high pressure (the cylinder pressure before the regulator steps it down) oxygen can burn things like metal most people don't consider flammable.
    I grind the chamfer off my seat socket so it engages the nut flats fully. Those chamfers exist to center the broach which cuts the internal flats of the socket and they are not necessary or useful from an end user standpoint.

    • @anthonyskorner4511
      @anthonyskorner4511 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why use acetone if it's extremely flammable?

    • @davidmorse8432

      @@anthonyskorner4511 For cleaning only. It has a high vapor pressure and evaporates quickly. Women use it as nail polish remover. A strong solvent but highly flamable.

I tried your link to the repair manual, but it comes up with an error page, could you please repost it?

    Great instructional video. All steps and procedures were spot on 5 star all the way. In my opinion with the 2000-2500 psi coming into the high pressure side safety first. Please next time you open the bottle valve step to the side so that you are not in front of the pressure or flying parts if something went wrong. I trust your work all the way and I am not trying to be a safety nazi or a critic. I don't want to have to bring a bible the first time I meet your family.

      Digginok I almost did not post that comment because I second guessed that the first time you opened that bottle was not on camera and that you were not in front of it. I apologize for selling your common sense and intelligence short in the comment section. Forgive me brother! Thanks for posting 2 times in the last week.

      tdej80 Hey no problem brother, I know you have mine and anyone who watches best interest in mind..I should have pointed that out, that is just something I don't think to put on the video, just a habit I have to duck beside the bottles when I open them up.

    • @melaniew77msn
      @melaniew77msn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Digginok thanks for your understanding and not taking my comment personal. When I say things like that many people get mad at me, but you truly know how my mind works. A while back I had to attend a stored energy safety training. That was the best hour I have spent in a long time. It made me think about a lot of things that I take for granted where I work at we do have a very EH&S woman. I am glad the company pays what it cost to keep her around. She can be a little bit of a pain in the butt at times but she truly cares about people.

    Those guys from the show "Moonshiners" don't use a rebuild kit. They use oatmeal and water. I'm getting mixed messages from all the dudes that I look up too...... The answer must be somewhere in the middle. Great video my friend. You continue to impress.......is McGyver kin to you?
