Thank you .After over 40 years experience using the Qxy-Fuel torch , I knew what the Flash-back arrestors were for . This is the first time I heard an explanation of what the check valves were used for . Now to get some for my hobby torch , I already have the FB arrestors .

I think everyone who has experienced a sustained backfire can attest to the terrifying noise it creates.

Thank you for the information. I'm new to the oxy/gas torch use community. This was very educational. Thank you again.

A dirty tip (nozzle) will cause problems. To clean one, heat it red and pour water on it, then squirt compressed air!

Why does everybody tell about the dangers of a flashback but not what to do if one happens

If a flashback arrester is fitted to both hoses, are check valves also required?

I have a Victor Medalist 250. I have a problem with it popping on me. Any suggestions will help.

Clean the tips, check your working psi, increase your coupling distance, clean your metal. Are just a few things. I know your question is 2 years old but maybe it will help someone else.

@@muddyudders I had to totally disassemble the torch and found that the gasket that mounts the head to the hoses had a small sliver of gasket material blocking the proper seal of the two.
