My only opportunity to come to Japan this year will be in the summer heat, so I was looking for a video to gauge how miserable it will be and ways to keep cool. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for another great video. I was nervous about going to Japan in the summer because of the heat, but the tips you shared make traveling in Japan during summer fun!
Thank you for putting together informative content 😊 I have been enjoying your videos as I research for an upcoming trip from Australia, I have visited before only in winter and am looking forward to experiencing the late summer culture in Tokyo! 😊
Thank you for watching from Australia. :) Tokyo lookks very different if you visit in different seasons. I hope you have a great summer trip in Tokyo. :)
Thank you as always Kenchan, really great video! I think a lot of these options would be great for all times of the year (maybe not the shaved ice during winter!).
Thank you Ryuga san! Right, every season has some cultural events and you can enjoy indoor facility in winter too. I recommend to eat shaved ice outside even in summer. ^^ 🍧
Lovely video and informative as always. I would love to browse the little shops and dance in the festivals but I can't cope with the heat and humidity. So I prefer to view Sakura or Momiji.
Lovely video! Shaved iced Udon?! Excellent idea to try!! Together with my favourite dish, unagi.. I'll be visiting Tokyo Tower by night too, as one of the hotels I will be staying in will be near it at Hamamatsucho.. Love the line dancing!!
Thank you Albie san! Yes, they had some cold Udon if shaved ice is too cold. ^^ You are staying at a great location. I think it will be great to stroll to Zojoji temple after dark and go further to the foot of tower. 🗼
Thanks for another great video Kengo. I like the suggestions that you give, but for me, Tokyo is about discovering and walking a lot, and not about beach or pool time. So I think I will prefer to continue to visit in spring or autumn. Although it would be great to experience a festival, and I believe they mostly are in summer.
Sir, I'm enjoying faithfully subtitling this video in Spanish for some friends from Spain who are traveling to Japan in August this year. I congratulate you for the excellence and elegance of your work. I already subtitled another video of yours about the ryokan in Kyoto, invaluable. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for watching this video and supporting the Spanish subtitle. I'm glad my videos are being watched in Spain too. :) I hope your friends have a great time in summer in Japan.
Salutations Kengo. Many thanks for your videos. Our family has been learning from your videos. We are set to arrive next month for 2 weeks. Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka,Nara Hiroshima, Kobe. Your content has been most informative. Looking forward to the shopping !!!! Any advice on shopping? We plan to carry our passports for tax savings. Love from Canada. 🇨🇦
Thank you for watching from Canada! That's exciting you are visitng Tokyo soon! Are you interested in purchasing foods, arti crafts, or something Japanese brand? I'm not sure if I covered what you liked, but I have the shopping video too. :) th-cam.com/video/hxf5DQEyydM/w-d-xo.html

So nice to see your summer in Tokyo video. I can't bear the strong heat and humidity and the crowd, so will avoid summer in Japan. I traveled to Japan in Oct and March. I hope to visit again in May, after the Golden Week of course.
Thank you Edna san. Summer might not be the easiest season to travel, but I'm glad I could show you Tokyo in summer time. :) Yes, May after Golden Week is a good season with light green. You visited in 2 best seasons already. :)
Thank you for this wonderful educational video. I am visiting Tokyo for the first time tomorrow during Summer 😁and i would love to experience the wonderful culture there in Summer!!! So excited!!! 😝
Thank you for your message! Wow tomorrow! I hope you have a great summer time in Tokyo. Tomorrow night is fireworks festival in Asakusa, so barely can move if you go nearby. :)
Thank you for watching and your comment. Early September would be still hot and humid as in mid summer, but probably the highest temperature of each day starts to drop by then, and a little cooler in the evening. Have a great trip in Japan. :)
So glad I found your video. I'm actually visiting Tokyo in July. I did not know it was that hot and humid. Thank you for your practical tips amigo. Saludos :)
Hello. Thank you for watching. I think it will cool down by the late September, but still hot enough to be in short sleeves and pants. Wish you the best trip in Tokyo. :)
Thank you for watching. :) I think the highest temperature started to drop in September, so it might be much easier than now. There are stil hot days in September, but not as intense as mid summer. I hope it will be a great weather for your trip.
@@thelifeofbatteries2603 If it's anything like I was there, it pretty much drops off late September, almost suddenly around the actual day of transition from summer to fall (ie, ~22nd of September). Somehow, the humidity just dissipates and it's suddenly comfortable. Overall, September will still be better than August but if you're dropping in from somewhere else you won't be feeling the gradual cooling so it will probably still feel pretty bad.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked it. I'd like to stick to the concept of just another Japanese man making unofficial vlog like travel guide video. :)
Use umbrella, use handheld power fan, get cool drinks. Note: the drinks in the vending machines are colder than the ones from convenience stores. The worst is being in the subways until you get on the trains. Ooh, so hot and crowded. But love Japan!
My only time to visit Japan will be August, people advise me of the heat and taifu. I will try concentrate my 14 days in Kanto Area. Thank you for the excellent explanation.
I’m going to Japan this coming June, how’s the weather during June? What outfits do I need to wear to feel comfortable and places to visit during summer festivals?
I think English sites are not covering the local fesitvals, sometimes it's hard to find even in Japanese. I'll check and write here if I find one. Thank you for asking.
It really varies. You can find for about $50 for a set on Internet if not made in Japan. It can be around $500 or more if you look for high quality Yukata with handmade geta (the wooden shoes) .
Hello, my family and I are planning a trip to Japan (Osaka,Kyoto) for early July. Could you let me know if it usually rains a lot during that time? Thank you!
It really depends on the year. Usually ealy July is the end of rainy season, but it doesn't rain much recent year. It might be good to be ready for the rain though.
Hi there! We’re planning on going for a trip in Dec/Jan, and we’re wondering how hard it is to find hotels available around that time? (This includes capsule/business etc we’re not fussy) People have told me you need to book far in advance around that time but we want the freedom to go where we want any time. Thanks :)
Hi. Popular hotels and Ryokans are almost impossible to get for Dec.31 if last minutes, or can be very expensive, but it might not that difficult to get random business / capsule hotels in the city. You might get a little better deal if you book earlier. :)
If you can push your trip into December or January and skip the New Year period you'll do better. New Year is kinda weird in Japan. You have to make extra sure everything you want to do or see is actually open. So with that in mind, if you DO have to go then, that's not the part of your trip that should be flexible. You should already research what is definitely open for you to do those days and lock in a schedule. You can be more flexible with the schedule when things are more regular there.
we are set to go second week of July. Good luck for the hot weather as they say but that is the only time we can go:) I would say just relax and take a break go to the mall etc for AC.
