My mom & I’d go to Devon in the 70s to watch him along with all the greats at that time, Rodney Jenkins, George Morris, Katy Monahan, Leslie Burr, The Galloping Grandfather and others. Fun days and the crowd loved them all.
One was a poor horseman. R 10:02 odney Jenkins. At a l 10:02 10:02 arge outdoor show, we were there. His horse refused a jump, he laid into beating it with his croup. Wow, the entire crowd booed him, yelled for him to stop. The announcer told him to leave the ring. The ring master even walked out to remove Rodney. He was disqualified from further classes. . I'll remember that always. Being a horse lover/owner that made me extremely angry. There were rumors he was a harsh rider. And he proved it to a hugh crowd that night. And the abuse was reported in a horse magazine. He was/ is a disgrace to the horse world.
He was an exquisite show jumping rider, and he turned out to be an outstanding trainer of racehorses also. I've been lucky enough to see him compete in the show ring at the Washington International Horse Show. He was a phenomenal talent, and still is too! Wish him all the success for his future.

Die beiden waren das absolute Traumpaar. Seine Ritte waren immer ein voller Genuß. Für mich sind er und William Steinkraus die größten Reiter des US Equestrian Team.
