Thanks for the comprehensive review John. Great to have you back! I'm looking forward to your upcoming reviews. The paddles you mentioned are ones I'm very much interested in.
Nice to see you back! Great review. I love your reviews because you are clear and to the point on information which we all want to hear to assess the playability of paddles and other equipment. Would be great to see reviews for thew Legacy Pro and Six Zero DP ... maybe you have those on your "to do list".
As a beginner, I'm looking for a carbon fiber paddle with maximum sweet spot area. Do you think the Halo has better sweet spot than the R1.16? Or should I just pick Joola Vision for the sake of maximum sweet spot? Thanks
Thanks for all your great reviews. Will you be reviewing any of the new Onix carbon paddles? I would like to know advantages over my Onix Premier if any? Thanks, Dixom
Glad you are ok. This halo line does seem like a really good mid tier option in price, and you get that unmatched selkirk warranty- they really are the best company out there on customer care.
Good point about Selkirk's warranty. I wonder if the one-year warranty covers wear on the carbon fiber surface (which is really only viewable under a microscope)?
@@johnkewpickleball I don’t think it does based on what I’m hearing about people wanting to warranty the grit in the power airs. I might be wrong so best to ask Selkirk. I do wish all reviewers would explain the warranty in their reviews and how it works. That this has a 1 yr warranty and Joola only has 6 months says a lot about each company’s confidence in their paddles and should be a determining factor in buying a paddle.
Very good review but it still is supposed to be a game that is fun to play. I just bought one for $100 on sale. I was playing with a $15 paddle and people were amazed at the shots I was getting off, both power and touch. And I could spin it when I wanted too. So I would say skill and concentration has more to do with it but a good paddle does makes it easier to play
Welcome back, John. Do I have it correct that you are going to do a video deep dive on the details and differentiation of carbon fiber paddle faces? If so, it is greatly needed as there is raw carbon fiber and Toray 700 raw carbon fiber, different weave tightnesses, and raw carbon fiber faces with and without applied grit. Consumers need to be told the benefits and drawbacks of each raw carbon fiber paddle face option. Thanks.
Great, John. I am looking forward to that video and the Six Zero one. Pickleball paddle manufacturers need to have their feet held to the fire for more transparency. One area that rarely gets talked about is polypropylene core qualities and what cell circumference (which impacts durability and power) they are using. You, Chris Olson, and Braydon Unsicker are doing the pickleball paddle consuming public a great service.
@@lilremylote minor correction but Joolas aren’t thermoformed. Joolas do have edge foam but the edge of the paddle is still exposed polymer sealed by an edge guard. Thermoforming seals off this polymer with the paddle face and then puts a separate edge guard on which isn’t what joola does. But yea the brands are vatic, six zero, legacy, and Crbn
@@wolf-xf6hf thank you, but I mean they do got edge “support”, no offense no pickle, thank for the correction. I started just 4weeks ago and I have been doing my research for a “honest good” paddle. 🥰
Your reviews are more detailed then pickleball studios. They are so biased, for example. The new line of joola came out. He brings up the quality control and other issues, but still kisses joola ass saying how great they are. Where as he does a full feature on adidas that had more lies then truth. You don’t pull any punch’s on your reviews.
Like your honest straight forward, no nonsense reviews.

Not sure what happened, but glad to see you looking healthy and back at it. We miss your videos! But, health comes first😊

Is the Halo thermoformed?
Would you recommend this paddle in 2024 now that it’s on sale for $100?
Stores will price match so I bought one instead of ordering and waiting for it

Exactly. I started to go down that rabbit hole in this video, but it was going too long, so I decided to spin it off into a separate video

Good info. But Idk if $140 (or $126) counts as a budget paddle. 14 grams of lead sounds like quite a lot.
where is the review for the Six Zero Diamond? your channel only has like 5 videos right now!
It's coming - I haven't finished it yet. I'm excited about that one
Once one trys Thermoform you can't go back.
What companies are making thermoform Paddles?
Joola, Legacy pro, Vatic, I think the new carbon , guess later this year some more companies will bring some

Wait: you can't mention your knife fight, deny it was a knife fight, and not tell us about your knife fight.
Haha, it was a surgery
Hey, I'd like to suggest ways to do durability testing for these paddles. I can email you if you are interested.
