I’ve loved the prism flash for over a year, this might be the right next step. Really glad that Vatic came out with something so quickly after the Oni situation.
Super stoked to be getting mine tomorrow. Sold my original FLASH to a friend a couple years back, and regretted it. Hope VATIC is patenting their middle face sheet material. The handle "scales" will make putting on a Hesacore very easy.
I loved the V7 prism for doubles and the V7 for singles and the Saga blows them both away. Very impressed with the few sessions I’ve played since I got the paddle in 3 days ago. Amazing paddle for the price.
I have watched many of your reviews and this was your best work! Dissecting the paddle is so cool. I'm also biased because this is my favorite paddle I've played with to date!
Good job as always … if only my game was this consistent. I have a bag full of Daryl’s Vatic paddles, and the bag is a Vatic bag. 😂 I have always loved the Vatic Prism Flash 16 SH, and Saga was in my near future until the purple apes S arrived first. I hope someone shows up at our place with one, because I am curious about the feel. I actually liked the Prism because it didn’t feel springy. I used a term with tennis strings that I played best with, and seems I want the same with paddles … “crappy trampoline”. 😛 I want the feel of pocketing control/dwell without big spring. I bet paddles evolve in that direction … which inevitably probably means dropping polypropylene.
Just played my SAGA flash SH. Hit much harder than I was expecting. Super solid feel on impact. Liked the overall playability of it other than how much ball debris built up so quickly. Does clean up though. I'd guess the "mystery" fiber is SPECTRA??
John … not related … but you had mentioned Lifetime ball before. We have now played with it for several weeks at our Lifetime. I like it, seems to hold up better than X40 regardless of seam. I only play indoors, and I think the green is harder to track than the yellow X40, so hope they make a yellow one.
@@scottfrancis13 Yes, I had to look it up “Life Time’s ultimate pickleball, however, has 48 holes, making the ratio between the holes and the spacing between them more even. From a durability standpoint, the engineers also made the holes have more of a rounded edge versus a flat edge, extending the ball’s longevity against micro-cracks.”
Is there a way to find a way to measure accuracy? I feel large cell paddles like the new PTeks are less accuracy than small cell paddles like the Standout CF3, with all conditions being the same.
@ that’s where I’ve heard about it first. Bullet proof vests too apparently. I’ve seen it available at composites suppliers online on its own or woven together with something like carbon fiber.
Why would anyone want a paddle with a standard length when there is a long handle version with essentially the same face profile? That tiny little area of real estate that you get back with the shorter handle does practically nothing for you, except make your two handed shots more uncomfortable. Even if you don''t use two hands, you still don't use that part of the paddle except for the most rare mishits that are unlikely to get over the net anyways.
I prefer the standard handle length even on 2 handed shots (It's more comfortable for me). It's just what I'm used to. It also reduces the swing weight of the paddle to have a shorter handle.
@@wenlambotomy6231 yeah some people like impractical things for dumb reasons. I make a weird face, call them dumb, and yep -move right on with my life.
@@AMurderOfLobs Are you calling my personal preference of shorter handles dumb? I'm not sure what you are saying there. I was giving a genuine response to what I thought was a genuine question.
@@BenjaminAndersonPickleball Short handles are dumb. If your personal preference is for short handles, than that preference is a dumb one. It's a poor design choice.
Vatic: We don't want the tech to leak
John: Watch me dissect this thing and show you the tech
The prism flash has endured the test of time as an amazing paddle, and I suspect the saga will as well. Huge props to Vatic.

John Kew just had to be the best paddle reviewer ever his nerd dives are what i tune in for. Excellent review yet again John
Always look forward to your reviews, even if I'm not interested in the specific paddle, I still learn a lot from your findings.
Daryl is ahead of you widebody and 14mm versions coming early next year. A 14mm hybrid and widebody will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Full mad scientist on this paddle. Luv it.

Ordered using your code, thank you!

Great review. I also like the graphics.
Meh, kinda wish they had a non graphic version

Wow the content is leaps and bounds better that Pickleball Studios! Kuddos John
Thanks for the review. How would you rate the power compared to the monarch jellybean?
Let’s go Kew daddy

Can you do a diy video of how you cut your paddles
How does it compare to pulse S or Olympus
I was hoping you’d put the static weight of the paddle you tested metrics on
Is there verification that the core is actually imported from the USA?
How would you compare this to a monarch all court?

I’m debating buying the Saga or the new Engage Pursuit V2.0. Have you had any play time with the Engage paddle to compare?
@@WayneHays-f4x I haven’t hit the Pursuit 2.0 yet, but they’re sending it to me
For each size, what are: length, width, handle size, grip thickness, weight?
Very cool design
So the Saga and the J7k pro are the same petty much when it comes to power and pop?
How short is short handle? Can you put 2 hands on it if needed? Or you don't use 2 handed backhand?
Their standard handle is 5.3". I have pretty large hands, and I can get both on my Flash (with my off-hand finger on the face).
For 20 more bucks neonic flow
Carbon fiber woven with spectra/dyneema fiber? Maybe?
Spectra is some crazy strong stuff. Protective climbing gear has been using it for years. Also competitive fishing line.
