Owned a pair of thump 15a and replaced them for a pair of Icoa 15a and I can say with assurance that the Icoa are leagues above the thumps. The Icoa speakers are insane for this price point. Clarity and punch are just awesome.
Cool! I have some 6 year old Thump 15As and looking to upgrade and retire them to the garage!
This is what I like about this channel. They actually let us listen to the speakers instead of just telling us the specs, and ending it there. 🤣🤣🤣 Like fam we could have just read the specs on Google. Why even bother telling us if you aren't going to show it in action. 🤣😂😭
The Icoa definitely sounds better on this demo both in the music test and mic test. More clarity and tone in both.
A best of single 18” subwoofers would be great!

LD systems sounds WAY better in every way imaginable.
Keep up the good work! Your demo's presentation is heads and tails better than the average demo of it's type - where the presenter seems more interested in the sound of their own voice than in the product their demoing. ;-)

I like the Mackie thump that's a good speaker it's was a surprise that Mackey came back real hard they did it this time and I played for 9:00 in the morning until 7:00 p.m. no glitch I'm going back to buy two more speaker and they have nice sound and if your old DJ they are good for you to carry around not too much weight that's it

Alto has a cleaner sound inside and smaller venues, bars, clubs. Prefer Alto over Mackie. LD wins for "biggest" sound and outdoor venues hands down.
@@here2inspireU interesting. The tech specs say the alto has a louder SPL. Are you saying this doesn't translate in real world use?
@@jespurrier for some reason, the LD's fill a big open space better and project further. I teach/coach tennis and I can fill 4 courts with sound with 1 of the LD ICOA 15's and I simply use the Bluetooth with my phone. Alto best for the money but depends on use and sound you like.
@@here2inspireU interesting. Thanks for the reply. These are probably better for marquees then. I love the altos for vocals but am interested to try these. I have an LD Dave 18 system and love it but it's sometimes hard to balance the sub with the satellites. The quality of it is great though bar the non genuine neutrik connectors that I'm in the process of swapping out .. I've given the LD system a beating and it's still going strong so I bet these speakers are good. I would never buy Mackie's now
I would love to Hear another Battle with the NEW Mackie Thump 215 & LD 15". I just bought 1 Mackie Thump 215 to take to work. I got it because a EV Powered 8" was even more $ than the $400 I just spent on the Thump 215. I am very happy with the Thump. I dig EDM Trance mostly & 1973 Albums Necktar Live in Newyork. If I Buy a 18" Sub it will be the LD. My main Home speakers are Martin Audio BlackLine X with a QRC M7 750 Watt 8 Ohms Very Clear,clean Amplifier. The Mackie Thump 215 IS the Best bargain Speaker. The Cheap Audio Guy refuses to Review Loudspeakers. Yet Klipsch is a known Horn 2 way Speaker that is Top Rated. Why? Because it has HORNS. Cerwin Vega 15" have the Best Base.
I already tested this two dudes and Icoa won the debate 11/01/2023

Ambos son geniales y es muy difícil decir cual seria la mejor. Te puedo comentar que la LD Systems tiene muy buen tono en los medios y la Mackie también se escucha muy bien pero un poco mejor en la frecuencia alta.

Why you didn't compare these with bass heavy music like house, hip hop or techno? I think these speakers main selling point is the bass.

Both have 1.4'' voice coil compression drivers, so I'm not sure why you keep mentionning this. IME, the Mackie has poor midrange/vocal reproduction and the sound is pretty scooped overall. The LD is likely heavier because its build quality is probably better than the Mackie.

15's without sub would do it, 12's with sub, depending on what kind of show. If your after a "big" sound without sub, LD ICOA 15's, if you wanting more "clarity" of sound, Alto 15's. LD's win outdoors hands down.

Best Budget speaker by far is the Alto TS312 or TS315.
I've got the ts312's (love them) and have LD Icoa 12a's on the way so I'll let you know. I think it's going to be a close call but I'm expecting the LD to beat the Alto for all round usefulness. Might not happen though !UPDATE: One of the ICOA's has a failed main driver after an hour of use so it's not looking good for me with these speakers right now. They are also really quite large for 12's indeed. I'll say more when I get the broken speaker replaced and have used them more.

For great clarity indoors, get Alto's
Stay away from those Alto’s … they clip fast… unless u play rock & roll… if you play hip hop with base … not good

Have you compared the sound of the LD and the alto side by side? I'm trying to decide between these two speakers in 15 inch
Did you have any issues with your TS315? I had to send mines back due to tweeter issues, lost my MID and HI ranges, only used 5 times (correctly) but was still in warranty but wish I had of got Mackie Thump 15A to match my other...
You DID NOT really explain the weight difference between the two.

The Mackies are way over rated. I have 2 and the sound quality is terrible. These speakers only have mids. No highs or lows... terrible speakers!!! Point blank period!
