  • The Honda Civic may not be the class-leader, but it has plenty to recommend it, especially the excellent 1.6 diesel engine.

It might not give you better driving experience compared to a Golf and BMW 1 series buts its still really good and most important of all. More reliable than Golf and 1 series and i have owned both in the past and currently a happy owner of this new Honda civic. After years of spending $$$ on Golf and BMW issues. I've come to part of my life were i just don't give a fuck about the name of my car but rather its reliability. Two years on since i purchased this car. Ive worked it hard on crappy british broken roads and its still fucking going and never failed its MOT and never got any advisories. With Honda, peace of mind is No.1.

Been driving mine for 8 years now, bloody reliable, comfortable and still drive like new. Storage Cubby???? space saver spare in there with a little room for bits and pieces but nothing practical. My only complaint is brake and rotor wear which in Australia I am told is due to Euro Spec softer rotors which are fine for stopping from 200kmh plus on an autobahn but on our nanny governed roads in Oz max speed limit 110 kmh could perhaps have had an option for a harder rotor and pad setup, gets a bit expensive every 35,000 ks. But I still hop into this car and enjoy driving it.

Hello! I own one and it's the 1.8l petrol manual. I just got it 3months ago and I feel like it jerks a lot or is it juat my driving style and need to rev match (alot) especially when downshifting. Also the car is on 56k mileage and sometimes it is struggling to shift from 1st to 2nd gear and also especially Neutral to Reverse. I was thinking it could be a transmission fluid change since it is clos3 to it's 60k mark service. What do you think?

The way the rear seats fold up is such a good idea I can't believe other manufacturers haven't copied it

Ok so the torsion beam is there to save boot space(and money). So let's imagine Honda put in an independent rear suspension ; how much less boot would you have then?

@@saifanwar898 Mine's Mk9 1.8 Manual petrol - 95k miles so far. Apart from the usual wear and tear - tyres, brakes and a bit of oil etc - its totally 100% reliable.
(The only thing I had replaced was the rear wheel speed sensors that may go bad after many years - if they go you get a load of dashboard warning lights but the car is fine).

Whats this in aider Auto-trader ?? In U.K. we`re on the 14-plate approaching the 64-plate at a rate of knots and you post presumably as new a creaking video of a civic on a "61" plate ,,,,,,"eh ?!?"

We are moving all of our video content onto TH-cam so some older videos will have appeared in our uploads.
We reviewed the Honda Civic when it launched and it hasn't been facelifted since then so this review is still relevant.

Err am I the only one who noticed how much uglier the back looked compared to the mark 8??
In fact the whole thing looks awful in comparison!! What's wrong with you lot?? 😡

That's subjective have you ever drove one? It's actually very compliant vs the mk8 on bumps & pot holes so much smoother. Looks wise it's never going to win any beauty contests but it sure does a cracking job done without any bullsh1t. With the added bonus of reliability.
