S60 is a good car, but it's incredibly boring compared to the Mercedes. You just can't make a FWD Ford chassis drive as well as a RWD Mercedes chassis.
If you don't care about driving dynamics, the Volvo is still a great shout but it won't be a suitable alternative for a lot of people.
