I have a 2009 BMW Z4 35i and it’s so much fun. It has also been reliable. It’s plenty fast for me so no engine mods other than to replace a few of the plastic parts for reliability.
e89 vs e93 is much more reliable and easier to maintain, looking to buy one off the copart, but as I said in the review, they pretty rare, specially with some rare options, my was basicaly base line model, the exeption was the n54, but I want to have all the pkg's that BMW offered in those models, so looking for one of those) Also will be fun to repair and rebuild. will see. But glad you have fun with your z4!
@@deutsch323 I haven’t had many issues with mine. Had to replace a cracked valve cover (it’s plastic), brakes and struts and shocks, and tires. The Z4 e89 can be hard to find information on as compared to other mainstream BMW models but thankfully there are a few forums that are very helpful. Do some research on the various Z4 models as they use a number of different engines. Mine didn’t come with adaptive suspension which is expensive to replace.
I sold my, but since then was nostalgic about Z4! I'm definitely going back and buying it again, with all of the options and sport pkg! will do it next year, getting little financial troubles, but I will own another one sooner or later! Thank's for the comment, more Video about Z4 is coming, Good luck !
Glad to hear you kept the Z4, it's such a fun car! I got a 35i (orion silver) in february this year, it cost me nearly 28k (and that was one of the moderate priced Z4s with the N54). It has or rather, had the exact same interior colors as yours, but being more inclined to have interior wooden trim and seeing that most of the aluminum one was scratched badly anyway, I replaced it with brand new ash trim (almost done, door trim missing still because I'm waiting for the replacement door trim clamps). I also fixed some common problems such as roof relais, roof micro switches and tail lights (all replaced with new parts) etc., polished the paintwork until most of the gazillion scratches left by the previous owner had gone or at least faded to the point they're barely noticeable (finished off with a ceramic coating), added cruise control, swapped out the steering wheel for a barely used one that also has heating and applied some more cosmetic changes such as interior lighting leds, M door step trim, door projectors (my Z4 has the light package among many other packages, there's a reason it cost me so much money ;-) ). I have a water pump (the Pierburg one, full metal) and thermostat ready for install too, still figuring out how to do that one - this Z4 hasn't seen any shop yet and I'd like to keep it that way for the most part.
Yeah, that’s nice to hear when people taking care of their cars, and spending time with them together. As for the trim, I still prefer the aluminum, it’s harder to maintain but it’s just my preference. Yeah, i love the res interior, this is a first BMW that i had with red seats, and it looks cool, but the downside is the seats, the Sport seats must have! At last hopefully your bimmer will get you only good experience and no headache, and it sims like you doing it as it says in the manual! Good luck man! And thank you for sharing your experience!
Great video! 🙌 My favourite BMW and I agree, it’s a piece of art. Beautiful timeless car design. I got the Z4 E89 28i with M-Sport package and about 241bhp and it’s just ace. Not intending to sell it. However I disagree about iDrive. The E89 needs two packages IMO: M Sport trim and iDrive. I reckon iDrive in particular is a “must have” and can be brought into this decade with addition of a CarPlay module. The one I have retrofitted has Apple CarPlay, reverse camera (extra) and works with the OEM screen. I love the that I can fold away the screen at the touch of a button and simply drive without any digital screen in sight (and being it back when needed)
In terms the i-Drive I do agree! Despite what I said in the video, I love the OEM look and the way it pop out from the dash, It's more that I don't have it in my car, and I start beaching and little bulling that it looks outdated, complete lie, shouldn't say that!. Also, For this car the M-Pkg is perfect touch! It looks insane with every pkg that BMW is offer. Thank you for the comment!
Man thats a very nice car. I live in europe and i have the sdrive23I so its 200hp but the Z4 is of the most best aged cars from 2010. I think the coral red interior is amazing. Its was a great review and with everything that you say i agree. I actually have no problems at all with the storage. I also have the first generation(2010) and i cant decide if i want to make it look a newer by model with different head and sidelights. Great video, enjoy driving that beauty! Not that often I have cars that drive perfectly straight)) also in the sport mode the steering gets even titer, so it really can drive itself, but yes, my dad actually mentioned that as well lol))) Thank you for the comment!
That's a good Idea! In the past I had lot's of troubles with that car... Unfortunately I sold my V8 x5 but I will think about it! If I will someone who own the car, I definitely do that!
When you have m sports package or 35iS there is a noticeable difference between sport and sport+, i think dampers in sport are still too wobbly for a quicky twisty road.
Yes, you are correct! I shouldn’t say that in the video, even my car have response between sport and sport+. The throttle response, and steering are changing sensitivity. And I agree, the suspension isn’t that good, it’s stiff, but not to the point that it good for twisty, or it’s not the sharpest steering.
I ended up getting a silver e89 for my first car. I've been absolutely loving it. And about the heads turning, there hasn't been a single day in which I have not noticed somebody looking at it sitting on the driveway.
Right on! Love the Z4 concept, and will be buying another one, in the future, strictly for the YT content, Might even be the wrecked one, not sure yet) but have planes. Cheers!

i actually prefer idrive screen... its not that bad looking yet and has its advantages... simple to scroll through the music on internal 10gb harddrive or usb, ipod.. i also coded the ability to view dvd-s while driving... and made a few music video dvd-s to play on it so i can have music videos playing while cruising with the top down... also premium HIFI professional with surround and 7 post equalizer is a nice touch and simpler to use.. and all the other stuff... phone book, checking error messages, oil level, maintenance coming up etc is nice aswell... And the best part is if you dont want it you can just close it with the push of the button... i like that its integrated and hideable... I really dont care about modern stuckon tablet screens in cars... even on modern mercedes that probably does them best, Sportseats are great... that adjustable sidebolster is very helpful to get a really snug fit and keep you in place... and extendable seat base leave a nice slot on the passenger seat where to put stuff... like the problem with coffee... i cant put a full cup there but an empty cup you can stick to that slot nicely and have it out of your way until you stop and find a place to throw it away. Also there is a storage space you can open left from the steering wheel under the headlight controls... at least mine does... I have seen people who had owned the car for a long time and did not know that its there... Adaptive suspension is nice but costly to fix and they arent that durable either... fronts leak easily and are like 1600+ eur to replace. I changed mine out with KW V3 suspension... Other easy handling mod is installing e92 M3 front control arms.
Don't Give me wrong, I still like how the i-Drive looks, especially the restyling 09+. But when people upgrade the 3 series that initially didn't have a screen, it looks pretty miscasting! Cheers mate!
@@Makhnovets funny part.. even I drive it at south of Germany, (magic word „Autobahn“), I never driving it above 120 km/h. Mostly 100-110 km/h. Cruise control engage, music on and just enjoy. It’s simply to risky for me to have any stone chips in my holly black-matt finish. 😂🤣
@@Xdream360 cheers! I really appreciate people who care about their cars! The huge number problem in US that people don’t care about their ride. Recent car that I purchase which is BMW X5 E70 is total disaster, it’s neglected, i only purchased because i wanted to see it in good condition and make it nice!
