    Just purchased this car today. Knew the mileage was average, Knew the trunk was limited with the top down , fine up,. Mine has 3 cup holders ( USA version must be standard), and with that technical of a top, only a fool would try to open and close it at higher speeds. Good video, And you’re cute to look at and listen to, So all in all. Still gonna love my car! Thx for the video

    You can also close and open your roof from the outside with your remote. Looks great and makes it easy to access your trunk...if you have comfort access.

    Ben, nice video again.
    The cup holder for the passenger side gearbox tunnel is only for left-hand drive, so of no use to us in the UK. As for the centre console, you'd need to replace the inert to your current console and replace it with the cup holder version, not really worth it while driving though as cups will get in the way of your arm when changing gear.
    I second the Carly adaptor, some nice little features are available. You can code it up to 34mph for the roof folding, which is nice if you get stuck at the lights, it starts raining and then they change to green!!
    As for the boot access, it only take 20 seconds to fold the roof, yes it's a niggle I appreciate that.
    Nice Z, keep up the good work I love watching them.

    My Z4 35is has three cup holders, USA version. Yeah! you are right it’s got blue tooth but not for the music, I had plug in a device to the USB. I never take the roof down while driving because if you hit a pothole you could do some serious damage to the roof mechanisms.

  • @captglenn100
    @captglenn100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2016 Z4 35i in the USA and it does have a cup holder in the center console. There is also an additional cup holder stored in the glove compartment that can be taken out and placed into the console on the passenger's side. I did not hear what year yours is, perhaps they were added for later versions or just those for North America.
    The fuel mileage is a bit of a nuisance filling up far too often when you drive the car rather aggressive, but who buys these cars for fuel mileage anyhow!

  • @unixnerd23
    @unixnerd23 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    For comparison my E85 Z4 2.5: I did a very relaxed main road run and got 40.2 mpg (imperial). Worst I've ever had was 30.8 on very twisty 200 mile drive much of it in third gear. Normal average 36 (3mpg more than my 325i touring). E89 looks great though.

    You can put the roof down up to 35mph with E89 Z4’s after 2013. Cars before can easily be coded to do that using something like Carly. The roof construction with the 2009 to 2012 range has a slightly less stable roof mechanism and BMW advises not to open / close the roof at speeds exceeding 25mph. Also advised to open/close only on a straight and even road.

    • @be1441
      @be1441  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ended up coding it with carly. Only used up to 20mph, so I didnt break it 😆

    • @cornel-lazar
      @cornel-lazar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Nigel Phelps no, it shouldn’t. BMW actually introduced roof operation while driving up to 35mph for all Z4 (e89) from 2013 onwards.
      I’m using all the time for 4 years, never an issue just avoid doing it when going into bends (it will temporarily pause operation) or uneven roads.

    I don't have to drive for work, so the whole idea of having a daily and then a weekend car is a redundant idea. I have been thinking about getting one of these though. I don't think I'll ever drive it with the roof down (rarely if ever do I open the sunroof of my c63), so maybe the small boot wouldn't be a big issue. But then I do like to be a Good Samaritan with friends and neighbours from time to time so only having two seats is a drawback....! Struggling to decide 🤔

    That's it?!? LOL, there is not that much to hate about this car isn't there.. :) I have a 2010 E89 Z4 30i (ZF6 box) myself and I love it.. Fuel consumption, who cares when you hear that lovely 3.0L I6 howl? I do have 2 cup holders in the middle armrest, came with an interior pack I think.. My Bluetooth works perfectly, no crackles and I can keep my phone in my pocket (I don't have audio passthru though for which I use a Marmitek BoomBoom 75 adapter, I think it was added to iDrive as standard later in 2010).. And yes you can code the roof to open and close at higher speeds, I did that (do not use it often and on bumpy roads though as the pre-LCI roof construction is not designed for it like the LCI one).. Also coded the rear lights to be on with the daytime running lights (which I changed to LED's btw) and some ohter stuff like digital speed and 5x indicator flash etc.. One thing that does nag me though sometimes is rattles, don't you have any of those? I have an annoying one in the middle airvents plastic piece that comes and goes with certain colder temps and I have one that comes and goes as well in the rear where the roof meets the deck, which I can temporarily fix by lubricating the rubbers of the roof.. But that's it, car still drives great after 103.000 km and 8+ years old..
