If you want to feel good and live longer only eat once a day. Way too much food there.
None of that food looked good🥴
That is what my brother said about the food. He cruised for the first time in June. It was on the Carnivale cruise line. When he was in the service he was in the Navy.
Looks like cheap, processed college food. Yuck
Every cruise I've ever taken ends up the same. I eat so much more rich food and desserts than normal. My excuse is that "I never make that at home! ". By day four, I feel exhausted and weak. I have to stop eating desserts and embrace a simple diet with mostly raw foods. It's so much fun at the time, eating like there's no tomorrow, but it becomes an assault on my body. Moderation is the answer. One rich meal should be followed by simple fare. Anybody else feel the same?
As a person raised in the north, Canada to be exact, the only thing I can compare Carnival biscuits to is a hockey puck.
I didn’t get the Guy’s burger until the last full day on my cruise. So mad at myself - would have had it for every lunch - delicious!😋
Totally agree about the biscuit! I was so excited to see that Carnival added Biscuit and Gravy to the menu but the biscuits were as hard as a rock.
Carnival is not the only guilty party. I have tried biscuits and gravy on Carnival, Royal Carribean, and Norwegian. All three lines produced biscuits that resemble bricks!!!!!
@@jaimecampos4700 wonder why none of them have found the secret??
I absolutely judge a breakfast restaurant on their biscuits and gravy!
I never order figuring most places have added rock salt to the gravy.
Same.
No, major diabetes causing food.
That “biscuit abomination” took me out🤣🤣🤣. I needed that laugh.
My best tip is if you're gonna order French fries or anything fried, specify no salt and it's likely to come out freshly made and hot.
That's not necessarily true, at least nowadays. Fast Food restaurants have learned this is something people do, so they keep unsalted fries in one area, and because it's still pretty uncommon, you're actually getting older fries than if you just got the salted that they keep having to remake.
@@colleenmcbride3656 Well I didn't guarantee you it would work every time. I personally have never gotten old fries when I asked for no salt. And if i did, I would return then
Done this for years every where I go ,works a treat
That's an antique strategy that doesn't necessarily work out for the best, - and you irritate the cooks, - which is always a terrible idea.
"This biscuit is terrible! Here, try it." 😂 I'm going to guess that Bojangles biscuits are on the forbidden item packing list.
I love the Ruben sandwiches on Carnival!
I agree it’s so good even the pastrami is good.
Me too
Totally agree about that biscuit! Don't risk it for the biscuit!
But if you don't risk it.. there will be no biscuit 😂
Don’t eat the powdered eggs either- those are disgusting 🤮
@@DavidSmith-un8bn 😂😂
It's not as if the biscuit was Hard Tack from medieval times that was infested with Weevils ....Let's get some perspective here
@@robbiekop7 just minus the weevils...lol
"Biscuit abomination" hilarious.
Hi Tony. Great food tour. It all looked really good. Agree about the biscuits. As always thank you for all you do ❤
Lurking biscuit abomination, I love it. 😂
Totally agree with you about the biscuits. Hard as a rock.
Agree. Cold and hard biscuits. But won’t keep us from cruising on Carnival. They have other foods.
TONY, I am from CALI. We were just on that cruise during spring break. Unfortunately, we did not get to be on the Firenze. I really wanted to try the food on this ship. I would have liked that ship better than what we were on. Thanks for getting out west for a cruise. Good news as usual. Keep it up.
Yall all got me over here 🤣about the biscuits
“Taste the biscuit. Taste the goodness of the biscuit” 😂😂 couldn’t help myself. I might try one on my cruise out of curiosity lol
Thanks for the cruise news and your views
I totally agree about the biscuit!!!!!! I tried it on the Carnival Jubilee and it was hard as a rock!!!
That grilled Italian sausage looks so delicious, I have to try 😋 but I’ll stay away from the biscuits you mentioned, lol, thanks for sharing all the dishes!!! 🛳️🛳️
Great food tour!! Such a concise and interesting video!! Thanks
Thank you for all the tasting you carried out onboard Firenze, appreciate having the benefit of your expertise.
Helpful to have your thoughts on what's good and what's not so good.
Hope I get to try some of the dishes myself.
Thank you for all your videos and podcasts, Tony.
Hahaha! I thought you were going to say "eggs"! That mile high cake looked amazing!
I was on the same Firenze cruise as you and saw you several times (didn’t want to interrupt you while you were filming). Your assessment of the biscuit is 💯. It was dense, dry and flavorless.
I absolutely agree with you about Carnival biscuits! I've never had a successful biscuit on Carnival.
The biscuits are probably a throwback to the “old days” when ships used to have “hard tack”😅 just check out Tasting History for that one.
Great job reporting on food! Thank you for sharing
This is very helpful information! Thank you!❤
Going on the Firenze in October. First west coast cruise since I moved on this coast 3 years ago. Thank you for the review- I’ve been watching/reading any reviews I can find on this ship.
I'll take your word for it, no biscuit for moi! Thanks for another great show Tony.
Tony you have me in tears talking about those biscuits. 🤣🤣🤣 Thankfully I'm not a biscuit and gravy guy
I ordered the biscuits and gravy last week on Carnival Spirit. When they brought it out, I wondered what it was. I agree with you about real biscuits. I won’t make that mistake again
I totally agree about the biscuits. Hard as a rock!!
Thanks for sharing your food reviews on your cruise, Tony (and letting us know what to avoid)! I always enjoy hearing about and seeing people's meals out, so I liked this very much. 😀 I've only been on one Carnival cruise, and while I found the food average at best, it was one of the better value cruises I've been on, so I figure you get what you pay for and can't complain in that sense.
Looks like a nice ship Tony and the sausage made my mouth water~~~YUMMY!!
Thanks...much appreciated your food review.
Hah! That's the only thing I hated about Shaqs Big Chicken was the breakfast chicken BISCUIT! Totally agree Tony.
That Italian Sausage looked awesome. Thanks for the warning about the biscuit.
You got the biscuit thing spot on! Having grown up only a few miles from the Loveless and the Beacon Light, most anything else pales in comparison, especially those Carnival hockey pucks.
Tony I've had the biscuits on the Mardi Gras and Celebration. I have definitely given up. I totally agree "That Ain't It" LOL Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend.
Agreed. Usually something with the physical characteristics of the Carnival Biscuit belongs on an ice rink being shot on goal by Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid. Those things can be lethal.
The scrambled eggs at the Lido Buffet are no bargain, either.
I completely agree and have made that exact comment as someone from the south about the biscuits and shaqs chicken!
I knew I liked you, Tony! My favorite dessert is also Creme Brulee - It's amazing when set on fire with some sweet vanilla based liquor. Looks like you had a great time! Thanks for another great show :)
So funny that your must eats are the same as mine. Agree with the biscuits. My husband tends to try the biscuit and gravy every cruise and is always disappointed. Food and ship look good. Can’t wait for our trip on the Firenze in October.
Me too. Oct 5-12.
I was delighted to see the pizza feature on here - I absolutely LOVED it on my recent Carnival cruises!
Oh, I thought they were retired hockey pucks. Anyway, they either need a southern granny in the kitchen to make biscuits and gravy or they need to use frozen biscuits (very good and dependable....you have the word of a southern granny on that!).
I'm a Michigander who went to grad school at the Univ. of Kentucky. I love biscuits and gravy! The world owes the South a big solid thank you for their cuisine!
I feel like anyone who has the job of making them needs to at least have eaten an actual biscuit. I think that's a lot of the problem. As far as I know, they're pretty much unique to the united states.
They buy them. Those are commercial hockey pucks
Two items: Mayonaise on a sausage?!!! Heresy.
"Biscuit abomination". Hilarious
😂
We were recently on the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas and same thing. The biscuits for the biscuit and gravy were made with concrete! They were laughingly inedible.
Oh my gosh, when you got to the biscuit, I laughed out loud. I don't know how they can consistently make a hard biscuit, but they do!
I do the same thing with the misery Pizza. 🙂 If I lose my budget early at the casino. It's off to the pizza place. Love that Carnival Pizza! Anna
Ughh I want my food hot. The meatballs looked delicious I might have asked them to warm them up. Biscuits….never as good as grandma. Fun video Tony thank you for taking us on the foodie tour~Cara 😊
Thank you, Tony.
We went on the Firenze on May 16th and the steak sandwich at il Mercato was absolutely delicious and so was the Cuban. Both were really good.
I just came back from my first Princess cruise and said the same things about the biscuits and gravy! I don't know how they messed that up. The rest of their pastries were amazing and fresh each day.
My biscuit sentiment was the same. As someone who lived in Atlanta area for several years in my youth, I not only ate restaurant biscuits regularly, but learned how to make them, (Had my own flour can and biscuit bowl!), and can tell a good one from a bad one. The breakfast biscuit is inedible to say the least! You may be able to use them for hockey pucks...even the gravy doesn't make them edible!!! I think we need to explain to John Heald the difference between a biscuit and hard tack!
Thanks for the cruise updates! We never tried the biscuits and gravy on Firenze. Now I'm happy we didn't.
We ate in the MDR once and we're dissatisfied with the stingy portion size. The Cornish game hens were cut in half leaving less meat than a couple of small chicken wings. The size of the Cesar salad was a joke as well. We left there as hungry as we entered.
Good favor though!
I was wondering where you were going, about what not to eat and when you said the biscuits, I lost it 😅😅😅, because you are absolutely right, they're horrible OMG!!!
Agree about those biscuits, totally inedible. They'd make great hockey pucks, though!
Luv the crème brûlée also!!
Same!
My husband and I thought the same thing about the biscuits and gravy on the Majestic Princess.
You had me at those green olives on the grab'n'go salads. You can keep your granite biscuits (maybe as doorstops?). I judge a salad place by whether they have green olives or not. Firenze passes the test. (So does the "Fresh Creations" salad bar on the Vista and Excel classes.)
CARNIVAL... The Trailer-Park of cruise lines. Worst pizza I had in my life! Took one bite and spit it out... Not kidding.
Scheduled for the Venezia in October from Manhattan. Fun Italian style.
We just had our first ocean cruise. It was on Holland America to Alaska. I am looking at the pics you took of what you ate on Carnival and most of that food looks pretty sad. The food on Holland America was much more visually appealing than what I just watched, as well as being surprisingly delicious.
You showed the Loveless Restaurant. Home of the best biscuits anywhere!
Agree about the food, typically very good but have never had a good biscuit on Carnival.
I loved this episode !
Omg from Brentwood and love loveless cafe…went to school when bussing just started so parents made me go to Brentwood academy. Many great foods in Williamson county but my all time favorite meat and three was macs country cookin
Thanks for the tip. Your channel makes me want to go crusin now
I concur at the Loveless Cafe 🍽️ north end of the Natchez parkway ❤ finest biscuits 😋😍
Funny you said that, ordered the biscuits and gravy in the main dining room, on the Pride cruise in April. I did not even let the waiter leave it on the table. The color of the gravy was not right, and the biscuit I could tell was a rock.....
I love the Loveless Motel food too!
Yay!! Good morning!!
Amen brother. Biscuits on every cruise line I have ever been on are awful. Though make excellent hockey pucks . The kids in the neighborhood get a month or more playing with them. 🥴
Food looks pretty good to me.
Thanks for the video
Biscuit Belly in Raleigh, NC has bangin’ biscuits!!!
Of course it's North Carolina
Wow that Il Vaggio meal looked delicious!
Yep! Staying away from the flower pucks! Shoutout “LUDA”
I agree with your evaluation of the biscuits on Carnival. I tried one on the Panorama and it too was awful. Hard as a rock.
Those biscuits look like the same ones they have on the buffet on all Carnival’s ships. They remind me of the biscuits that are already baked that are sold at supermarkets. On the plus side, you can take a few of them up to the Sports Deck, and have a rousing hockey match 🏒🥅
I had the biscuits and gravy at the buffet and it was good. We rode carnivals independence of the seas
Hey Tony, The last several cruise we went on with Carnival the food has been cold. The toast was black. The rolls hard as a rock.
How I remember biscuits and gravy being the post-bar crawl food of choicd back in my younger days, long, long ago....!
Quikrete biscuit! You Crack me up!😂
7:03 is this guy from Nashville? He referenced the Loveless Cafe I live right by that place
I never tried the biscuit but the worst Carnival food in my opinion is the eggs Benedict. Instead of being a soft poached egg with rich hollandaise sauce… it’s a hockey puck. And a rubbery hockey puck at that. Love your videos Tony.
Love the food videos
"biscuit abomination" LMAO! Love you man!
I agree 100 percent about the biscuits on carnival. I can’t imagine that their chefs can’t figure out how to make a decent biscuit. They are so hard they could be used as hockey pucks
It must be a thing, on celebrity the biscuits could not be cut. They were rocks.
The sad thing is about the biscuits is that it does not require a chef to make them. I've been making good biscuits since I was about ten years old. But, I will admit that even today, some 65 years later, my gravy sometimes ain't what I intended. It isn't consistent -- sometimes really good and sometimes it's better to put fig preserves on the biscuits than the gravy.
Great video ❤❤❤❤
A while back, I put on my survey that it would be nice if they had biscuits and gravy at breakfast. Surprisingly, on our next cruise, there it was. Biscuits were as you describe. Needed a sharp blow to chip off bite size pieces. Gravy was also a bit thin on the sausage. Overall, Carnival's baked goods are pretty good, not sure why they cannot make a biscuit.
I get lazy and use Pilsbury frozen Grands at home. They are fantastic compared to what Carnival puts out.
the Biscuits on princess are the same Yes my grandmother lived in Tennessee and no one can make Biscuits like she could with awesome gravy and country ham
Absolutely agree! Don’t do it! Don’t eat the biscuit!!!! 😂
Since Princess is owned by Carnaval Corp. I think they share the biscuit recipe. The ones on Princess I'm afraid to bite into one and break a tooth.
😂😂😂😂
I couldn't agree more about those abominable biscuits. I had some on the Carnival Radiance two years ago. I tried them several times over three days, thinking I just got an old batch, but they would have been better served in the NHL. I really love a good biscuit and gravy breakfast, but I have yet to find anything close on a cruise ship. Carl's Jr. and Whataburger are the only ones close to my homemade biscuits and gravy.
Hi Tony, love your channel. I have been I fan forever it feels like. I would like to comment on the biscuits and gray. I just returned from sailing on the carnival dream. I seen this on the menu at breakfast in the main dinning. I said that's cool let me try it , it should be wonderful. Boy was I wrong! I describe it as being more like an plan flour flavored biscotti. It was horrible. Luckily I was able to shared my husband's food. So thanks for letting me know that it was not just a one time thing based on the ship. I will stick to my favorites, voyage burger, steak and eggs.
My hubby’s mom was born and raised in GA. He saw your review of the biscuits & gravy and said “hay no!! I’m not going try that biscuit abomination!!” Yes, my hubby did over 20 years in the USCG, I did clean it up. 😂😊
Sure would like to see each ship having its own unique food/restaurants. Thumbs up to Frenzi having something different to eat.
How to make a good biscuit: don’t touch the dough. Use your power of suggestion to will the dough to combine itself 😉🤣
