As a Christian on the left, far removed from the white nationalists on the extreme right, this is also among the very best sermons I’ve ever heard. I was raised in the fundamentalist Baptist Church, and I’ve seen, and long left that very dangerous and damaging toxic environment.

James Talarico is an elected representative in Texas, for the Democratic Party. He has so far been able to thwart those two Texan billionaire “pastors” from succeeding in their attempts to get rid of public schools by implementing a voucher system. The voucher system takes the public school boards’ budget and proposes to pay out a per-student amount to each student, rather than continuing to fund public schools. The wealthy people who are already sending their children to private ‘Christian’ schools [where the curriculum is Christian Nationalism, a political movement, not a religion] don’t need the money, but the public schools sure do. So it’s basically a steal-from-the-poor to give-to-the-rich scheme. These billionaire ‘pastors’ want to dumb down any kids who are not wealthy, by impoverishing their schools thus eroding the quality of the education they can get, and mold the wealthy children into hate-mongering Christian Nationalist Soldiers who will keep those rich men in power in their positions of power. The poorly educated students won’t be able to reach higher education, and won’t be able to afford to get something or somewhere better for themselves. They’ll be the cheap labor billionaires and greedy corporations need to get rich and richer. It’s insidious and evil. Texas needs James Talarico fighting that good fight for them, now more than ever.

Romans 1:26-27 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

One can disown Christian nationalism, but it’s hard to separate. A preacher loving the lgbtq and being pro choice and thinks the universe is older than 6,000 years and supports evolution…
Christians have a term for this, and it goes like this, “luke warm”.
The tribalism is too great. I’m glad someone is bridging the gap. However I’m an atheist and there will always be fundamentalist.

@@jamie1682 Matthew 10:34-39 contains some of Jesus' most challenging words. As usual, they can be easily misinterpreted when taken out of context. Christ's arrival in the world will bring division to Israel, as even family members turn on each other over the issue of whether He is the Messiah. Jesus says those who love family more than Him are not worthy of Him. He further heightens this idea of radical loyalty by comparing it to carrying one's own cross: a metaphor for death. Those who do follow Him, though, will find the life that is true. Those who go their own way will lose their lives, no matter what they find on earth. This passage follows Jesus' instructions to the Twelve as they prepare to spread the gospel (Matthew 10:5-7).

@@logicrealitytruth I think you need to actually open your Bible and read it instead of just using it as a prop to hold up as you spread your message of hate and exclusion. Because it seems you don't understand who it is you claim to worship. If you did know who Jesus was and what his message actually was you wouldn't say what you just said. In case you're not aware, which you obviously aren't, the most important thing to Jesus was that we love our fellow man/woman no matter what nationality, race or religion they are. Not do everything in our power to suppress the rights of everyone who doesn't look like us, worship like us, love who we think they should, vote like we do, come from the same place we do. People like you want to force your beliefs on everyone else and control everything we do, say or think. The type of Christianity that you seem to consider, "true" Christianity is nothing more than a bastardization of Jesus word and theft of his name to utilize in an effort to control the lives of others while claiming moral superiority when in actuality that form of religion has little to nothing to do with Christ. Christ would've called you out and rebuked you for your sense of false pride just as he rebuked the Pharisees for the same sense of moral superiority they exhibited in claiming to know the will of God while getting the message all wrong. Jesus died for the sins of all people. Including Heretics much like yourself who used the name of God to claim to have the right to tell others that they are sinful while ignoring the plank in their own eyes. I truly hope that before you meet him that you come to understand just how wrong you are and repent for your false use of his name to spread a message of hate and division and beg for forgiveness for bastardizing his message for your own hateful, ignorant desires. This most definitely was a true Christian sermon. Far more true to what true Christianity looks like than anything you're likely to hear from any White Christian Nationalist preacher. Shame on you. And just something to think about before I let you go. The book of revelations says that you shall know them by the mark of the beast which they shall wear upon their foreheads. I'm a silly little woman with a Bachelor of Science degree who's been a Christian for almost 50 years, and I find this sermon a serious breath of fresh air. I'm absolutely appalled by the spectacle of so many Christians wildly cheering "leaders" who push ideas that are *directly antithetical to the teachings of Christ.*
If you call yourself a Christian, but want to give Christ a "makeover" because the Good Shepherd just isn't "kick-@ss" enough to suit you, you have got a *problem.*
Love of country is fine, but *God ALONE* deserves our worship.

The entire country needs to hear your sermon. I too am so grateful you, a Christian, who is taking a public stand against Christian nationalists. Jesus says we are to love one another. Judgement is the Lord's and the Lords only. There is nothing in God's words about following Christian nationslism, unless, of course, you are a Pharisee.
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. “This is the first and great commandment. “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:37-39).

Thank you so so much. I personally needed to hear this message from a white pastor/preacher speaking to a white congregation.
This wicked, racist Christian nationalism is literally turning people away from true Christianity - especially many in the Black community. To us, it has felt like the Christian leaders that we respected, loved, followed, supported have unveiled their truth in supporting a man that is the pure antithesis to Jesus. It has rocked us and angered us. I believe this is Satan’s aim .. to sow confusion, rage, and dissension as he divides the flock and attempts to invalidate the Good News.
My sincere prayer is that God covers you and protects you as you share a hugely-unpopular, truly Christ-like message in these dark and evil days. I pray that your boldness and courage increases even more and inspires other Christians to stand up for Jesus and the Word with equal bravery.

Budhism cannot mix with Jesus Chrst. It’s emissible like water and oil. Buddhism is in direct contradiction to Islam and Christianity. Islam is in direct contradiction to Christ. Therefore, Islam and Buddiahm are works based religions -while Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life; there is no mixing of all the religions as a born again Christian. You are either a Christ-follower or not. That’s the end game to this all. One way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. Buddha can’t save. Muhammad or Allah can’t save. Only through the blood sacrafice on the cross of Jesus can someone be saved from eternal damnation. There is no either way even though there are some truths in Buddahism and Islam; nevertheless, they are works based religions with no savior. The tomb of Jesus Chrst was empty and He ascended to heaven. He conquered death. Muhammad’s grave was not empty. Buddha’s grave was not empty. Nichiren Daishonin described it this way. --- You must never think that any of the eighty thousand sacred teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha’s lifetime or any of the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions and three existences are outside yourself. Your practice of the Buddhist teachings will not relieve you of the sufferings of birth and death in the least unless you perceive the true nature of your life. If you seek enlightenment outside yourself, then your performing even ten thousand practices and ten thousand good deeds will be in vain. It is like the case of a poor man who spends night and day counting his neighbor’s wealth but gains not even half a coin. That is why the T’ien-t’ai school’s commentary states, “Unless p.4one perceives the nature of one’s life, one cannot eradicate one’s grave offenses.”2 This passage implies that, unless one perceives the nature of one’s life, one’s practice will become an endless, painful austerity. Therefore, such students of Buddhism are condemned as non-Buddhist.
