It has been raining since last night. The gorillas went into the shelter for the rain, and Genki and Gentaro stayed under a roof to keep the rain off. A short story. I heard a story about Gentaro's childhood and I'll share it with you.

MOMOTARO & GENKI Family ( Momotaro Fam)
Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

GL and fellow GL subscribers, I saw the cutest video yesterday of baby gorilla Ajabu from Prague Zoo. I’ve never laughed so much. His antics are hilarious. I can only imagine if he and Kintaro were friends what mischief they would get up to.
You have to check it out. The title is ‘Ajabu the miracle gorilla that that stole our hearts.’ I think he is around Kintaro’s age and the video is a compilation of his antics. GL and those of you that love gorillas will just love it 🥰

Gentaro tried everything to snug his huge body into some kind of comfortable position under that little spot where it doesn’t drip! To wait it out. I was getting stiff and achey just watching him!
1:21 Kintaro has a unique style of chest beating. Most gorillas just do a straight back and forth with their hands but Kintaro does his in a lovely, almost circular motion. At the end it was almost an up and down motion.

I understand you don't have knowledge of all the zoos plans, but I'm curious about gorilla foster moms in Japan. Here in the U.S. we had an orphaned baby female, Jameela. Currently, she has been taken in by a new gorilla troupe. But I can't help but think it might have been a good opportunity to have her fostered in Japan. As a completely new blood line, she could be a good edition to the Japanese gorilla population. I'd love to hear about cooperative trades between countries where possible.
Hi GL has a vet checked Kintaro after his fall?
Not sure. Either way, a gorilla, even a child never easily gets hurt. Unlike the same age of human child, his bones and muscles are amazingly strong and surdy. A baby human is really soft , right. A baby gorilla is so hard on any body parts.
Even if Kintaro falls from some height, he will not break any bones.
I saw a video when Kintaro was younger he use to chase the pigeons. One time he was on the roof of the keepers cage, he literally spread his arms I UT and jumped off the roof. I don't know how he didn't break anything , he looked like he was hurting a bit then was fine. I swear he thought he could fly like the pigeons, there was no other explanation on what he was trying to do. I c I uldnt believe it
