    Whomever mixed and or mastered this recording deserves a Grammy. This has to be one of the best 2 live recordings I have ever heard.

      Thanks Coolaxe- DW ! I'm very flattered, because I mixed this record by myself, and it was mastered by Simon Derasse, an english engineer living in France ;-)

    Cool to see a bassist that isn’t being drowned out by other instruments. The guy is incredible. That was so sick it gave me stank face😆 Guitarist was amazing as well. He was killing it. Definitely inspiring. Love the way it all came together and how every musician added to the music. Everything was in sync.

    • @avalerionbass
      @avalerionbass 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It drives me CRAZY the degree of how often the bass is squashed in a mix. It does not matter WHAT style it is, it will never have this kind of punch, attack, and clarity. What's more, everyone always goes with that super squashed, super fundamentally overbearing "bass tone", but it never sounds like an actual instrument, more like a sine wave, if you hear it at all that is. It's always super quiet, no tone, no punch, sounds like its far away as if the whole band recorded live in the studio but the bass was in the bathroom down the hall.

    • @216Numbskull
      @216Numbskull 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easy fix to cure and stop the bass lost in the mix. A dab of super glue on the guitarist volume knob on their amp does the trick! : ) Their always the main culprit to the problem, and the only ones who can never hear themselves yet their amp is right next to them? Kidding don't do the super glue trick. But I'm right! As far as your tone never sounding like the bass should sound. That's the difference in your gear also. That Warwick Bass Phillippe is playing to start with isn't your off the wall bass guitars at Guitar Center for 5 or 6 hundred dollars. Much less the rest of his gear.

    • @kelwig8738
      @kelwig8738 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it's funk so the bass will be given priority in the mix. Otherwise the tune wouldn't have any groove. If it was rock, they'd probably bury the poor guy in guitar and organ pedals.

    • @gonnandphilippe7776
      @gonnandphilippe7776 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kelwig8738 Thanks ! I don’t totality agree with you... 😉 watch the video “Mistreated” on my YT channel , it’s pure rock and the bass is mixed in the front too... and it works !😎

Mais évidemment, là, c'est bien péchu, cuivres super en place, guitare rythmique métronomique, guitare lead tendue, Philippe Sellam... bon gros tempo qui claque. Assez classic funk qui tue, et ça joue fort. 👍🏻

    I love all genres of music from all over the world but Funk mixed with Jazz, Rock & a little dash of Pop helps to create a fusion of music that gets me every time, especially when played Live...
    OK my bad as I may have told a little white lie aka fib, as I wasnt that keen on Rave/Acid House Parties/Garage & all the other names it was changed to as that genre evolved...
    I respect those who did enjoy & still do listen to this & still have a love for this genre, but its the only form of making music that I can honestly say didn't move me inside...
    Do I recognise it as a legitimate form of music, of course I do, & while I respect this genre it has never really gotten under my skin except for one band that was a fusion of many parts of this ongoing style & that was " The Prodigy "
    The Prodigy had a way a combining various genres from that scene & along with their vocals, plus an amazing look made them stick out from the crowd & their songs did resonate with me along with the way they arranged their music & overall sound...
    Now with with regards what im adding below some will no doubt disagree with me & with what I'm about to say with regards to the amazing multi talented members of the group (from 70s to 80s) " Chic "
    Maybe it is just me but I never once ever thought of " Chic " as being a disco band...
    As they were already established as band within the inner circle of the music industry before disco came along but its true that Chic gathered more momentum once Disco came along & Chic just happened to slide into the same path/lane as disco & unfortunately in the end Chic as a viable band was all but over as they had been labelled as a Disco band...
    As we all know two music styles that never made it out of the 70s was Disco & Punk but inadvertently or not both genres went on to give birth to many other styles & sounds coming solo acts & musicians...
    Tony Thompson & Bernard Edwards were one of my many favourite rythmn section player's over many genres ranging from Jazz/Rock 'N' Roll/Rock/Funk/Heavy Metal/Reggae et al & when both played in what i like to essentially call the " Engine Room " of any band they both laid down grooves that you could not want to listen & dance to...
    Though the (still to this day) Hit Maker Nile Rodgers needs no defending by someone like me I still to this day maintain (in my opinion) that Chic were not a short lived disco band but such was the vitriol hatred churned out & aimed towards & against disco that it spilt over to Chic, as many of their songs were staple regulars in disco nightclubs...
    No doubt Nile & the others were happy to go along with that disco ride as it meant revenue, as any airplay, is better than none, but i still feel that they were way above all the other disco acts they were thrown in with & the members of Chic would either singulary or together go on to play on & produce hundreds of hit songs for so many solo acts & bands long after Disco died & that to me proves they could move with the times & weren't going to go the way of the rest of those disco acts Chic had been placed in...
    So far I'm loving this upload as it has all the ingredients that when put together create an amazing musical cocktail & you just can't stop yourself from feeling that rythmn...
    We need to see more acts like this whether its funk/rap or thrash metal because if no one plays it eventually it will die away unless the younger generation picks up whatever instrument(s) they like & then keep music alive by playing it...
    If you think I'm being overly dramatic I can assure you im not..
    If someone told me that back in the mid to late 90s that the music industry would in the not so long distant future would all but be over & nothing like the huge behemoth of an industry that it was I would have laughed that comment off, but just look at where music is now & unless we get more people involved with music, then who knows where or IF it will even exist in another 20 to 30 years time...
    For now i'll get back to enjoying the rest of this short upload...
    In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world...
    .....
