It's clear how much research went into this speech - love to see it! Donovan mentions the book 'The Sacred and The Profane' by Mircea Eliade & it's an excellent classic for mythic / initiatory understanding! Can also highly recommend 'The Archetypes of Initiation' by Robert Moore as a follow-up text for anyone who is reading this comment and feels like they're at that transformational threshold. (Robert Moore is the same Jungian analyst who co-authored King, Warrior, Magician, Lover, also mentioned in this talk)
Jack Donovan is speaking to our innate archetypal awareness, and it's beautiful to witness this type of mythopoetic wisdom gaining popularity. The resurgence of old myths will help us create new stories and outcomes in our lives. Nourishing and grounded speech. Men need more of this - especially in our dissociated and soul-ruptured modern culture. Thank you for your continued work and artistic storytelling,
All these gods are just types that point to the one, true God, Christ Jesus, who are all of these masculine characteristics, and more, because He is perfectly loving and just. This is NOT to denigrate this presentation in any way, it is just a reminder that all myth are types and shadows of the Truth.
Every sincere member of every religion would say exactly the same thing. “Christ Jesus” isn’t special, and this sentiment is really just a form of tribalism. Which is, of course, totally normal for men. “Tell me more about how your tribe is the best tribe with a monopoly on truth…and also why your city’s football team is special.” I don’t really have a need to talk anyone out of their tribe, and can appreciate the positive qualities found in many of them. (Many of which are essentially the same characteristics.)
@@JackDonovan Of course, they do. But are they all demonstrably true? They may all be false, but they cannot all be true. However, Jesus of Nazareth (the "Christ") demonstrated He had power over everybody's ultimate problem, death, by emerging alive from His grave, after being dead and buried. This is historical fact, witnessed and documented, and no other religion on earth has this evidentuary basis. Not one. Not everything is true, even though each tribe may feel like their version is. He conquered sin, death, and the Devil for all tribes, not just His own. And, thanks for helping men be more masculine-- you are making the world a better place! Peace through strength!
@@travist7777 The eyewitness testimony of cult members is generally not considered reliable, but I can’t argue with your professions of faith. Thank you for watching the speech, and I hope you can enjoy and apply the cross-cultural ideas found in it, as many Christians have.
I'm a Christian also, S Travis and appreciate your well worded thoughts. I was a high school teacher and when dealing with a broader audience I focused on the attributes of character that Jack is focusing on here. People are at different stages of readiness to understand anything no matter what the subject is. God bless you as you grow in faith as a man.

All you've done is state what you already believe with nothing original added. There are over 6 billion people alive who don't agree with you.
