I don't know what my favorite job is, i just love being outside and pottering. Although its warm here, the ground is so water logged, after a very wet winter, that I am getting a bit of a log jam on the seedling front. Fingers crossed for a week without rain 😂.

Thank you, Kerry 🤗 😘 The think bamboo canes have a great versatility in these situations I have been using them for a few years to sturdy up the arches and create a tunnel effect between the arches themselves 😊 The beetroot varieties? 💚
😅 I couldn't get over the wind outside 😆 If I had headphones to block the wind noise out, I would have been grand, it was the rain and wind combo that kept me anxious 🫣💚🌿

Aaw, thank you, that's very kind of you 😊💚 I do really enjoy gardening, its a mental health lifeline 💚 I have not got into a habit of splitting the potatoes, especially not the first earlies or second earlier. Might be an idea for the main crop though 🤔😀, to test out the difference in the harvest.... I just would need to remember to cut them up during the week, so I can plant them during the weekend, as that's the only time I have for gardening 😀🌿

I actually think the seed was not viable as I don't usua;ly get a problem with kale. The seed company already replaced the seed once but the 2nd packet is no better! Feeling disappointed. The kale is called midnight sun. I think it should have been called Into the darness, as it will be going on the compost very soon!

Hello there, my Waterford gardening bestie 🤗😀 Would you imagine calling potatoes into the greenhouse 🤣🤣🤣 You must have thought I was nuts, haha 😄 I was holding off calling him in as it was over 20C inside the greenhouse already, and all he'd be doing is panting 😃, but it was just so windy and wet..... The beetroots are germinating already, I'm keeping them indoors at the moment, under cling film cover (that's directly on top of the cell tray, and the shoots are pushing the cling up themselves)... I'm hoping for better weather here, too 🙏 Thanks a million, and have a great weekend 😀 🤗💚🌿

Hi Maiju, no more frosts, very lucky. Even though I have had very good germination from saved tomato seed I still sow more than enough. The purple cauliflower I will watch with interest and may be give it a go next year, supposed to be healthier.

The Purple Cauli germination was very good, but as I've said, I've yet to grown an actual proper cauliflower 😂, only a couple of spindly heads here and there....😊💚🌿
sry, was meant to mention, there might be frosts due yet, not out of the woods with that yet 😀, but not forecast for the next few days.....and when the cold weather comes, I'll either move the buckets into greenhouse or cover with fleece💚

Hi, I have high shelves in the greenhouse, and those help a bit, slugs still find the plants, but not as easily as the plants in the beds. Don't get me wrong, they still manage to get across all the gravel and stone chipping and slide themselves under the greenhouse walls and through the soil and get into the greenhouse, which is an amazing achievement. And their damage done to seedlings is frustrating, but I do try to pick as many as I find every morning and feed them to the hens. I have seen quite a few gardeners using a floating shelf in the greenhouse, which should help if you're having a potential mice issues also, but it def would help with slugs and snails. I don't use a floating shelf yet. I'm quite tall and the way the greenhouse is lay out currently, I would probably just keep banging my head against it 😂💚🌿

Morning. How do you protect everything you sow in the greenhouse. The slugs and snails are destroying everything I plant. It is so frustrating.
