4:30 What the hell are you talking about? In every single FromSoftware game, it automatically skips the bosses intro cutscene after you've seen it once, with very few exceptions. And for transitional cutscenes between the phases of a boss fight, you can just skip them.
The only dialogue that is ever repeated is the dialogue that bosses say during the fight, but that's true of literally EVERY game that has dialogue in its boss fights, so I don't think that's what you meant.
Also, about difficulty, the entire point of these games is that you are overcoming overwhelming odds. If they were all as easy as you want, there wouldn't be any satisfaction when you win. Also, difficulty is relative. The developers don't have any say in how long it takes for you to win the fight, it entirely depends on how well you can adapt to the moveset, not to mention what items you have and what level you are.
In most games, the hardest bosses are optional. Because it's a challenge. The reason you fight these bosses is to win, so they have to be difficult, otherwise there'd be no point. Minos Prime from Ultrakill, Jevil and Spamton NEO from Deltarune, Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts, hell, Sans from Undertale could be considered an optional boss from a certain point of view.

I actually disagree here. IMO the fact that malenia is optional is WHY she can be so difficult. If that level of difficulty was in the main story line not even fromsofts target audience would entirely complete the game.
Malenia is hard because she’s an optional story line in the hardest and farthest part of the map. She is your reward for all the effort and diligence you put into the game to get to her in the first place. An ultimate test of your skills as a player.
Optional bosses like this aren’t aimed at the “everyday gamer” (for lack of a better term) they are aimed at FromSofts target audience. The people who take these games and their difficulty curve as a challenge to improve themselves and their skills. Imagine if you did all the work and scoured the map to find all of the side quest pieces to get there and you found something as difficult as an ulcerated tree spirit. It would be a total let down.

She is also only hard if you fight her in the specific way people seem to require you to fight her. Malenia is hard, oh did you use magic, buffs, etc...., dare I say summons.
Any complaints about Malenia difficulty is elitist bs.

Miquella was ripped out of the Haligtree by Mohg, his half brother, for the purpose of forcing him to become his consort.

8:32 going to have to hard disagree with you here.
An optional boss HAS to be hard to fight. Not defeating them does not halt the story, so there leeway for a difficulty spike. Especially so for a boss with this much gravitas and weight in the world.

I feel like in order to engage with the story you have to want to engage with the story. If you go into it expecting to not like it thats what youre gonna take out of it. With Fromsoft games you get out what you put in.
If you start with the position that you dislike the way the story is told and hold that position all the way through then its probably not going to resonate well, but if you try to see things from the perspective of the people who are engaging with it in the way that the writers intend you might be able to get more out of it.
I personaly perfer the way Miyazaki tells his stories because in order to understand it I need to invest all of my attention into understanding the world while i played the game. I remember in my first run through I had hypothesized that Radagon and Marika wher the same person before I hit the reveal based on other pieces of information I'd found previously. And when I had it confirmed i felt like a genious. And that only happened because i had paid attention and gone out of my way to do all the sleuthing and research. I feel like thats just not possible with a traditionally told linear story.
Finally all of Fromsoft's games are incredibly community driven. That goes for both gameplay and story. They dont expect 1 person to be able to figure everything out, its designed in such a way that makes the community come together to solve the mysteries. Its collaboritive storytelling at its finest.

At 4:30 tf are you yapping about??
Yiu can skip every 2nd phase cutscene, also only radagon's intro cut scene plays multiple times and its still skippable.
Dont react just to hate on another form of storytelling
Also fantasy author? What book have you written, cus from a quick Google serch i couldn't find any by you

There’s videos specifically on Malenia and Miquella if you’re interested - Miquella will be a focus of the DLC. There’s also a video of the lore found within a 3 minute DLC trailer that also touches on Miquella also by Vaati if you’re interested

To the point about taking resources from one weapon and putting them into another: I guess he never got the smithing stone bell bearings? Because apart from the ancient dragon smithing stones, those cover everything you need to upgrade weapons apart from the rune cost.

I have to disagree with you on making Malenia easier than the final boss because she's an optional superboss and they are meant to be harder than the final bosses. It would actually be really weird for her to be in that standard you put out since it contradicts traditional game design.

@@dandreharris636 What's there to be confused about? He says Malenia should be easier because she's optional, but optional bosses are supposed to be harder as seen in nearly every RPG game ever.

The rule of three works for rival boss fights in games not how many times it takes to beat the boss fight
It works for how many times you encounter a specific boss not how many times that boss pile drives you into the dirt

Miquella was kidnapped by Mohg. You see Miquella's misshapen arm hanging out of his cocoon in Mohg's fight.

I feel like not experimenting with other weapons *at all* severely hampered your experience. Once you beat Rennalla, you have 18 nearly free respecs. Once you have the bell-bearings, you have infinite materials. Once you reach Mohg's palace, you have near infinite runes. The limits to your flexibility progressively get lifted once you reach mid-late game areas.

You mentioneded that you love themes and when the things in are lore consistent.
So your criticisms about the difficulty should automatically fade away as you learn more about the lore.
I mean Malenia has endured way more hardships and undergone even a better training arc than us tarnished, it make sense that developers respect her skills and not just debuff her for sake of players wanting an easy boss.

Man, this was hard to watch. "Fantasy Author", can't understand different forms of storytelling other than "Please tell story on silver plater in baby words". Can't understand the concept environmental storytelling either. Vaati and other content creators get their information from in game by... get this.. reading! These stories are not forced, if you don't care - that's fine, you care than there's alot for you to explore.
Finally, this guy explaining game mechanics and explaining how the game should be... was going to be the death of me.

Elden ring should have had a blacksmith upgrade bench system. Once you upgrade one weapon to plus 2,3,4 etc the bench stays at that level so now you can just bring your weapon and automatically have a plus 4 weapon but that’s to smart

People are really mad at you about your opinion lol I do personally disagree with you, but I get what you mean by making the final boss the biggest challenge. Coming from a person who’s both a lover of literary fiction and video games, radabeast should definitely be the hardest boss. In cannon, he actually is. It was underwhelming for me to beat him after Melania and see how easy he was comparatively. However, I wasn’t upset because I knew why they made her so difficult. She’s Fromsoft’s version of fanservice lol
